That build wasn't really impressive. They just found gpus that were equivalent to PS4 GPU. You also have to assume that PS4 isn't going to have an OS and background applications that would hog a lot of resources.

For Gaming ? I honestly wouldn't recommend a Gaming Laptop, Some people might try to convince you but every single person I know who has got one it ended up having problems.

The major problem with using that article as your reference, is that 500 British pounds is not equivelent to 500 US dollars.  According to Google's currency conversion, 500 pounds would be around $775. 

And I have a $1000+ PC

Couple of minor issues with this troll job. For starters that's a £500 (about $750) PC, not a $500 PC. Nice machine though, that £17 PSU should be good for at least 6 months, the whopping 128 GB of storage is a nice addition, 1 whole GB of VRAM is monstrous and the complete lack of any form of input device or operating system can only be a plus. Still. turning that PC into an actual operable device would only push it's price up to around £600, a measly £250 more than the PS4. A bargain for a PC that will run some next gen games at well over 10 fps. Good to know that professional PC writers are just as prone to fuzzy maths and fuzzier logic as the System Wars breed. Full of fail, your $750 PC doesn't even include the operating system. Not to mention gaming performance on that machine will be slower than on next gen consoles because games won't be coded to the wire on PCs.

A $400 PS4 is just strictly superior to your $750 rig when it comes to gaming.

Tips for next thread.

Before you do a price comparison make sure that you know the difference between UK pounds a US dollars,because your thread say $500 dollars but your link say 500 pounds.

500 pounds at the current rate are $775 dollars almost twice of what the PS4 cost in US..

Didn't read the article, but I'll just assume they don't include a full copy of windows, have poor PSU, no KB/M, and omit the optical drive. Also, used or refurbished parts are at play, as well.

Spec'd out a complete build for $514 including 3 new games and the best I could squeeze in for the budget is 3GHz quad CPU, 7790, and 4GB DDR3-1600. This system will beat the X1, but not a PS4.

Then consider the following facts: a GTX titan overclocked is able to just barely produce 60 fps on Crysis 3 completely maxxed out. That is a $1050.00 card. A PS4 is expected by the end of next gen be able to produce the same graphics or better (based on KZ:SF today) but at most likely 30 fps.  

So how will a $500 PC with a 7870 GPU, that can't even produce 10 fps with Crysis 3 maxxed, beat a PS4 a few years from now ?

Did a single graphics card exist in Xbox 360's launch year which could play COD BLOPS 2 today? No. The minimum spec card did not exist at the time. 

Quite amazing that they can pull this off, and I can only suspect it might happen again. Does this mean that in 2020 I suspect the min spec graphics card to exceed a GTX Titan? No. I'm just not sure it's even possible to make accurate guesses about such things.

Nope, I was actually interested in Knack until I saw how stale and reptitive the gameplay was currently, I'll change my opinion when I see more that can convince me

Crysis 2 with Blackfire and Maldo looks better than anything I've seen from the PS4 so far, and 1080p VHQ settings can be achieved on a 7850/7870. 

These articles are so dumb. If you built that PC you'd be stuck with pretty much junk parts that you would just have to replace in much less time than you would if you just spent anoter $300-400. You would actually end up paying more if you stay on the low end since you're forced to upgrade whereas with higher end parts you upgrade less and get better performance. If you really want to get into PC gaming, you're not going to spend any less than $800 for your computer.
