neither would be good because you're still accusing them of damage control without adding anything to it and therefore trolling. reducing somebody's comment to damage control without explaining why is what we're trying to avoid. it shouldn't be in caps either.

considering the fact that countless, and i mean COUNTLESS people come onto these forums crying a river about how a 8.0 game is still good blah blah, who gives a hell? if you post on these forums even once, you should read the stickies and if you cant do that, you deserve to have dozens of "floppage control posts" thrown at you.

in conclusion, i agree, Floppage control should be allowed. If you cry about a game score, your controlling floppage.

Casey isn't saying you can't type "Damage Control" he is saying that you have to make a somewhat meaningful post, not just 2 words.  Posting 2 words (or slightly more) in an overt attempt to hurt someone elses feelings is trolling/spam and thereby against the rules.  

With that being said, am still confused on what a meaningful post would be that would allow oneself to post the phrase "damage control"

Actually T_HBO has been banned for years.

If anything, I would say that System Wars isn't moderated enough. A majority of threads descent into name calling and hair pulling, and phrases like 'damage contol' don't help matters at all, they simply throw oil on the fire.

Damage control, flop/floppage, THBO, /thread,  ownage and the like are very rarely used in a constructive manner, and I presume is the reason they are frowned upon, if not outright banned. Would I be right?

I have to agree with the top poster...so what if someone just types "damage control" and doesn't explain why. If you want him or her to explain then demand an explanation and ask for it, how about learning how to have a conversation and a debate and  ask as to what is considered damage control within the thread.

There's way too many moderation going on and it's really going to get worse and worse to the point that posting will be less and less fun cause you cant do this, can't do that, can't do that.

I mean honestly what is so bad about it? If someone just wants to say Damage control well good for you, people freaking went into wars and battle so people can have free speech and say what they wanna see no matter how dumb or smart it is.

Banning damage control has nothing to do anything except to help those people who are tired of hearing it cause people are saying it about them. I think just about most of the mods come from people complaining.

And it's funny cause 90% of the time these modded rules aren't obeyed and many many people are posting them, I'm sure without even reading the rules fully like I did once about not quoting more then 5 in a chain and they get modded.

Why don't we just stick with the basics of what can't be said or done and enough with the censoring...I mean please mods this is really getting out of hand. I was reading a whole bunch of posts from people who were modded and half of them atleast I didn't see a the point in the rule or moderation. I mean honestly if you wanna look at what's being modded in terms of the overall reason like flaming or annoying someone or not explaining this and that then just about every one in this forum should be modded. lol

Please can we just be able to post and not worry about these new mods and weird mods. No swearing, no obvious offenses and that should be it.

Is GS doing parenting now too? If people wanna just make fun of each other and have nothing better to do then close the thread if that's all the thread has become. Why censor people and ban or mod people? If they wanna be dumb about it go ahead it's a free world just don't expect people to take them seriously.

And if all the do is make threads and fight and ruin peoples threads by blatantly offending people then they should be modded then banned if they don't learn. But if they say "Halo sucks" I think that person is childish but no way do I think hey go mod that person, if that's the best they can come up with then I feel sorry for them but that's his naive comment.

I don't know much about football in that I dont watch much except for playoffs really but T.O. really seems egotistical to me, like Allen Iverson is in the NBA thinking he doesn't need to show for practice and can throw off team chemistry cause he's so good even though he never won a championship and doesn't seem to make people around him grow in to better players like Steve Nash for example did tremendoulsy when he came to the Suns

I think there's way too moderation on this forum honestly, I mean the more and more we do the more it just makes the forum less free speech. I know that may sound dumb but unless someone is being racist, sexist, blatantly mean like telling someone to kill themselves or whatever, or obvious injustice you would see banned on the net then I don't see a need to moderate it. If someone wants to say I suck or my idea sucks or my favorite game they can do it, they have the right to do it, I also have to right to ask why in which then they should tell me or why or look like a kid for just saying " you suck." But that person shouldn't be modded just for saying it. We have to have thicker skin then that, just to mod more and more and more things.

I'm sure what I'm saying the mods think is wrong and I know nothing and nothing will change but I hate to see more and more moderation, it just makes it less enjoyable overall for me. And eventually the moderation will go to far because it's all up to the mods judgement IMO.

I only said that cause people are being modded after trying to debate with a person who's just there to make people angry and they loose it themselves and are modded for it. Well if that's the case then the person obviously making threads to annoy people should be modded too, just makes sense like in hockey if you are just out there to start a fight you get the instigator penalty. But it goes back to should the people posting to the flamebait be modded just cause they lost it in the heat of arguing with flamebaiter and said something like "you're so stupid I can't believe this thread" for example. I mean to me that's wrong. People loose it sometimes and i'm sure you'll say then don't post but like half of this forum is crazy threads and flamebait. Why not just let people post and let it be, if people go to far and say "you should be killed" lol or something like saying like questoning their sexual orientaton then that's too far

saying "damage control" is reducing somebody's argument to nothing when it's most of the time not nothing. if you think it's damage control, explain why.
