Anyone can make changes. But you can make bad or good ones. The point is to make good changes, not obviously bad ones like these.I'm not a DMC fan, but I'm actually pleasantly surprised that Capcom is even making changes to one of their franchises. They've been the most stuck in last gen all through this gen imo.
Pug-Nasty
Ill give you the complaint on using unreal engine since I have yet to see a uber fast game use it. Besides that this is just another I hate dantes design thread which is basicly what all DMC threads are now.

True, but Capcom's lack of change this gen has made all their games suck imo. Even if these changes are bad, it's at least a sign that direction is changing over at Capcom.

So turning the game dark and realistic in terms of gameplay just went over your head :P I understand you are not a DMC fan but please try and look at it from our perspective. Unreal engine just mean the game will play slower than what the fans are used and of course full of glitches like you average Ninja Theory game usually is. The fact that the gameplay will be realistic just proves that Capcom is using Devil May Cry's name to sell essentially a new IP. That's not fair to the gamers, if Capcom wants to make a new IP then make it but don't use an established franchise to kick start a new type of game.
Regarding turning the gameplay unlike DMC, fact below:
Well everyone who has played Bayonneta makes comparisons to DMC, saying that it's essentially the DMC formula but to the next level.
Here is what the head of NT had to say about Bayonetta:
"I love the game. I think it's awesome. It's taken everything — it's just gone to a total extreme. But in terms of, 'Do I think it's cool?' No, not at all. I think it's caricatured and over-the-top and very 'Japanesey,' and for that absurd sty1e it does that really well, but that's not what I want."
----------
He basically admitted that he doesn't want DMC to be over the top or Japanese like the franchise has been known for, instead he is obviously going towards a realistic route unfit for the franchise imo. They should just admit they are approaching DMC like they would a new IP.
If that isn't reason enough for you mate, then you are putting gamers down and acting like devs have the final say despite we the fans paying for their games.
@swiftBoss
You're making a big deal out of this. I love Capcom, especially now. And the whole MvC3 DLC rant is just hilarious. Capcom rules 8)
I'm gonna buy it. If it sucks, then so be it.
Oh, and the devs at Ninja Theory e'fing suck for saying that Dante is 'un-cool'. What do they think is cool, Twilight and CoD? Damn is this world going down the gutter.
Lucianu
I would advise you to try out the demo before dropping your hard earned cash towards what looks like a disappointing DMC experience, at the very least get it pre-owned or rent when it releases.

Swift_Boss_A
Oh, ofcourse i will try the demo first, if there will be one. But i honestly don't think it'll fail that bad. It's a origin story (Capcom said so), it's not a reboot, so we get to see how exactly Dante became the Dante we know. By this we can obviously see that he'll have white hair eventually at the end(?) maybe, based on all the rumours i've heard, and based on the pic in which he has a string of white hair, plus he probably does not know who he's father is (maybe?). I don't know, i'm basing this on the standard grid for a origin story.
DMC 3 was not a origin story for Dante, but for the actual Devil May Cry shop. Yep, it was a younger Dante, and i loved he's cheesy lines, over-the-top character design and behaviour.
My only issue is the possible frame rate for the Unreal engine. 30FPS is horrible for a hack 'n slash, so i hope it'll not be 30 FPS.
I mean sure, Ninja Theory is incompetent wen thinking what's 'cool', but i'll keep my head up for now regarding this.
Stop buying "Crapcom" games. That is what I have been doing. Haven't bought a single Capcom game this generation.ShadowDeathX
Me neither and I used to love their games. I just don't want to get nickel and dimed by them.
Most recent bullet dodged: MvC3. If they bring the character count up to the +50 MvC2 had by selling them as DLC, that game is going to cost another $100 by the time they're done. Not to mention that a couple of the dlc characters are actually on the disc and that really grinds my gears.
The problem is that there are enough Capcom fanboys (and plain old suckers) that will actually pay $160 for the complete MvC3 that it will probably pay off for them financially. It's Capcom's integrity that they're really burying.
[QUOTE="MFDOOM1983"]

Lmao @ that bull.
You need to reasses your definition of 'generic', or atleast say that you hate the series, and end of.
Dante is anything but generic.
Hate the character =/= hate the series I've already mentioned DMC features some fantastic combat only second to NG. But fails at everything else imo.[QUOTE="ShadowDeathX"]Stop buying "Crapcom" games. That is what I have been doing. Haven't bought a single Capcom game this generation.LeifLongbottom

You do realize that they couldn't bring 60+ characters due to character balance, time and budget issues, right? Can't argue with that. I can't argue with personal preferance. I respect your opinion, then.
I love almost everything in the series. The entertaining, weak as hell, storylines, with good endings; the cheesy, but fresh characters; the over the top themes; the voices, the cheesy dialogues; everything that would get hated. They are just so entertaining to watch, it feels as if it's ben forever since i played such a game.

And who was asking for 60+ characters? I was pointing out that the last game in the series had 20 more characters than the latest one and that each additional character is going to cost the consumer $5. If they add 20 more characters (still not 60+) it's going to cost the player an additional $100.
If you think that's reasonable, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you...
Actually, I have a couple of lanes of a bridge for sale. I'll sell you the other lanes and the lower level as soon as you buy these two lanes.
Face the facts, we're getting less content for more money in this gen and it's very noticeable.

bulletstorm and DNF should be up your alleyPeople do know this is a reimangiation right? By some of the post it doesint seem like most do. This has nothing to do with dmc now universe. Think of this like the ultimate universe in marvel. Thats the best way I can put it.
Never seen someone get so angry because they changed a characters hair color.
I cant wait for the game, trailer was freaking amazing.
they are trying something different, i know gamers HATE that, gimmie a break, wait till it comes out to judge.VideoGameGuy
Wait till it comes out huh? Typical.
Tell me, hypothetically speaking if someone pulled a trigger from quite a distance towards you, would you jump out the way or wait for the bullet in the off chance that it wont kill/hurt you? I hope you get what I am saying ;)

I wish this was the case I truly do, I would have been much more open if it were a re-imagining but unfortunately its not. Capcom and NT already confirmed that it ties into the existing franchise. So it is a bastardization of DMC meant for a whole new audience.

All manor of crap has been flying around regarding this game but it seems Capcom has finally settled with DmC being an origin story. Killing everything off about the character including his gameplay style just for the sake of it. Makes no sense, I mean alienating the existing audience is wrong, they are taking a MASSIVE gamble that most likely will not pay off. The casual gamers don't go for such games so who will buy this? I don't know but it certainly wont be 5 million people like Capcom wants.
Regarding the link you asked for:
Alex Jones: "We're not going to be definitive about a lot tonight, but one thing that we can be definitive about is that this is the same Dante - just younger. We're looking at a retelling of his origin story."

The werid thing is this can be taken in 2 ways. One as in its the same dante ala personalty traits just a younger version or same dante ala being the dante from the previous games. Cause they are again using words liek reboot and retelling which have been used in other games like silent hill shattered memories. So as of now im just freaking confused. People need to be more clearer with things like this.

I know it's best to remain optimistic but please give me something to be optimistic about, Capcom. It's not right to just blindly accept change and that is exactly what Capcom is expecting from the original fanbase. There are clear tell-tale signs which say that DmC is the worst thing to happen to the franchise and as a fan I will not simply put them aside.

And this is part of the problem right here, so many gamers are willing to be overcharged (and will go back asking for more) that they're just going to come up with bigger and better schemes to get even more money out of us for less content.
