That was a good listen. Thank God for the mute option.Jandurin
This just means that he was talking about you.
If you pay a fee for online then there should be mods....If it were free like Sony's online then I would understand more. But I feel if I am paying for live then there should be mods to keep those kind of words out. This is not something you want your kids to hear. HarlockJC
^^ This equals truth we should demand a better online system if we are paying for this stuff its rediculous great post HarlochJC. You hit the nail on the head.
Nice it was a good rant, I hate people who do that on Xbox Live.xXHackettXx
I wouldnt say that its only on xbox live, but i'll say that it happen more on it. a lot of the times, i just played without the headset.

Jandurin meant the mute button on XBOX live not for the video.
Yeah. I feel like that should have been relatively obvious. I don't mind Sessler or even X-play, though I don't get that channel anymore.[QUOTE="Vectah_Sigma"][QUOTE="Jandurin"]That was a good listen. Thank God for the mute option.Jacboy71

My bad Homie
Props to sessler.
I have had many a heated argument with some ignorant arse who decides it's "cool" to throw n-bombs around every second. "But I know black people and it's cool." Yeah, right. Try saying the n-bomb to a black person you meet off the street. And then try to stay alive.
Seriously, I hope many in these forums watch the clip and look at this thread. There are quite a few gamers that need to leanr a thing or two about wrong and right. About the difference in using the f word that rhymes with duck and the one poking fun at sexual preference.

Nice it was a good rant, I hate people who do that on Xbox Live.xXHackettXxYa because it is only XBl where it happens. When I see people act like it is only on XBL it makes me think they are the same age group as the people making those comments. Try playing a MMo such as WoW or other PC games such as TF2.

Try playing a MMo such as WoW or other PC games such as TF2.Going from my experience it doesn't happen nearly as much in PC gaming. Probably because you'll more than likely get banned from a server on TF2 for saying such things...same for WoW and Guild Wars.

People can call this guy names and yes he may be an a$$ sometimes but I totally agree with him and this is not only on xbox live but also on PSN. It doesnt happen as much as xbox live because not many people on PSN have mics but I did run into a few dudes in there that were making fun of this black guy in there just because he was talking slang which alot of people do in my area so some of these guys decided to call him the N word and I flipped out on these guys because I hate mother fu**ers who have to ruin the online experience by doing that. They never thought once how that person can feel for calling him the N word and all it does it just makes those people who u are calling names not want to join the online community which is sad just because of some dumb a$$e$ who think it is cool to go online and call people names just because they are getting owned by them. I think all online games should have something where if these idiots want to be rude and come on just to call others names and racial words, should get banned period from even playing online. If u cant even come on just to have a decent match and just enjoy playing the game for how it was created and made to be played with communication, then u need to get the fu** off because sooner or later they are going to get even stricter with online for gamers and that is going to suck just because of some idiots who cant come in and just play the damn game but let there frustration out online since they have nothing better to do with there life. Good job Adam.

Ok, I have said it and nothing has happened. I'm obviously still alive (or am I imagining this in the afterlife?)
Do I get a cookie or something? Oh, and I said it in a deragatory way. Nobody is gonna do anything, I don't understand why people say "say that to a black person and see what happens"
Yeah because black people are just so tough, ZOMG!
Get real. Black people are not intimidating, they pose no more of a threat than any other race.
But really, how is microsoft supposed to deal with this? I mean, they can't automate the process by user interactions such as submitting an offense claim, because everyone would just use that against people they don't like even if they aren't beign that way. Also, they don't have any proper voice recognition software that would work on that large of a scale. Also, they don't have th eman power to regulate 3 million users voice interactions.
Literally the only wa yto stop something liek this is by removing the voice feature all together from XBL. I blam ethe parents of these 12 year old kids, as they are too young to be playing those games and the parents are ignorant in not realizing what they are allowing their kids to do.
Perhaps they need a vote system, where a user goes to the offensive users id and submits the offence (like hitting a mute button) and then everyone in that match has to vote, if it passes, they get fully muted for 24 hours on all of XBL, so any game. Something temporary like that may fly with users, but I can still see that getting abused by people and having innocent people muted for the wrong reasons.
Apparently, to fit in to the cool kids in middle school or in elementry school you have to make fun of the other. That is what I hear through xbox live playing Halo 3. What on earth are kids trying to do to fit in?
I have always enjoyed Sessler's soapbox and this is the best one yet.
100% agree with sessler, it just gets stupid and annoying with all the 13 year old stupid kids, Adam is the only person on G4 that i respectlegend26What about Morgan Webb
Stating the obvious there, but at least he's stating it...
Any who, as long as people are safe behind the anonymity of their screens/monitors they know they're immune to any type of backlash from levelheaded people.
The best remedy for these people is to just ignore them. Give them the attention they so desperately seek and they'll keep on doing it.
I actually like Adam. I think he should break off from G4 and start his own media company.justforlotr2004Or go work with Giant Bomb? :?

I guess that would work, but I think a company like Gametrailers may fit him more since they got the same type of setup with their own TV show and all. They could make a deal with Spike to add another show for him.

But the nature of VoIP means they can't actively monitor every conversation that goes on over Live (nor should they try, for a whole host of privacy reasons.)
Put simply, the feedback system is there. Use it. That's how you get the attention of the mods.If someone is using racist/homophobic or otherwise unsavory language, file a complaint about them.
I cannot trust anyone to be civil, and I'll never know if someone is cheating. It is impossible to gauge whether a match is TRULY fair from the beginning. It sounds like Xbox Live is full of cheaters and racists. And before someone comes in and says "the problem is minimal", then wtf did Adam Sessler feel he had to make a video on this very problem? Obviously it is getting out of hand. I don't feel the least bit bad for never playing Halo 3 online. I KNOW that I'd end up dealing with a bunch of racists and cheaters and the annoyance factor would outweigh the fun factor.

Its not just XBL its the entire online community. I was getting insulted and cursed out on the PC way before I was on the Xbox.

but your kids are the ones saying it!
The problem with voice chat is that it's much harder to moderate than text.Tylendal
just pay what like 10 people next to nothing to game 8 hours a day and mod at the same time....Once people start getting in trouble word will get around. Watch your month are you may get baned.

Way to generalize the black race an angry violent one...
If I'm playing COD4, which is rated M (for mature) then I should feel free to swear all I want (which I do), not like I am swearing at people but I will let the f bomb fly if I lose a shootout and I probably will call you something derogatory if you are acting stupid (making obnoxious sounds, voices, continuously blowing into the mic, or being racist), then I will mute you, end of discussion.
Yeah, but i question the fact he was using so much swearwords while telling people not to. I agreee with him though.angelkimneHe said nothing about cursing. He said he had a problem with homophobic and racial slurs.

It would take more than 10 people to mod the XBL community.
It would never work either, can't go off the prefer/avoid system because everyone gives negative feedback for nothing. I have 15% prefer and 85% avoid. I think its like 50-60% because of trash talking, which I find hilarious due to the fact that I don't even talk. The only thing I say is "can I get snipe/torque bow" and that's it.
Then again, my bio used to piss people off. It said "My Beastmode and had the five full stars and Your Beastmode with the five empty stars" and I just realized now thats why everyone that I played with hated me.
I think I made a thread on this before. How gamers want games to be considered art, how they want it to be publically acknowledgable entertainment ect.
Well that's never going to happen until the audience that plays the games happen. Sessler is exactly right and when I look at SW I see a lot of the same crap (check blogs)
Gamers complain about negitive stereotypes and Jack Thompson but they really can't say anything. Because well there is a majroity of gamers that have ruined it for us. Hell some gamers can't even accept other platforms. They act like its Krptonite.
Gaming has a long was to go in the eyes of the public but that's never gonna happen. It will always be known as a degenerate counter culture.
To be fair, i dont think this is an issue with xbox live, PSN or even "gaming" at all. It's much broader than that. Look no further than the absolute cesspit of racism and abuse that is YouTube.com - it's simply a fact that when people are allowed to interact with whoever they like, however they like, without fear of any consequence at all, they turn into douches. That natural instinct you have when talking to other people to be polite and to not be abbrasive disappears because you're no longer in the company of other people; rather it's just you, and you need not worry about what you say at all because at the end of the day - what are they gunna do?
It's sick. And it's the case with a lot of people.

10 people to moderate a community of over 10 million members?
