It is shipped, so stop trolling. :) Shipped means nothing. The game has to sell-through those copies, something it failed to do in America.
It did not do particularly impressive in the UK, either.

Wait what? Please tell me how do you collect sell through data at 100% accuracy at anywhere around the world, I'm sure big corportations would love to know how you do it!:)
Did I say I knew how to collect those sales? No, I only said GT5 shipped 5.5 mln in 12 days, it did not sell 5.5 in 12 days. Problem?

I never said it wasn't shipped, all I was saying was that all companies use shipped numbers when giving out sales figuires. So you might want to read my previous post again and retract your accusation of me trolling. ;)[QUOTE="sanim02"]

Companies go by shipped data because shipped = sold to them. For the umpteeth time, retailers won't ask for more shipment if there is no demand for said product.:)

It still sold very well, problem? It certainly sold well. Obviously, as long as cows don't exaggerate it's all fine.
The only non-flops for the 360 last year were Halo Reach and ME2 (which is on PS3 now anyway). SC Conviction, Crackdown 2, Fable III, and Alan Wake all flopped, and in 2011, 360 owners don't even HAVE a game to flop, so they have absolutely no place to call flop on anything. It's like a bratty kid who can't even dribble a basketball sitting in the bleachers and screaming "your jumpshot sucks!" to the NBA players.MrmccormoSports fans do that ALL THE TIME.

I wonder where this Alan Wake hype was... I saw way more hype from KZ3. themyth01
S*** was hyped up too. People was going nuts over the visuals and the "open" world. KZ3 hyped just carried over from the insane KZ2 hype. Alan Wake was a good game. A bit disappointing though.

They don't always go for shipped numbers.
Halo Wars sold--not shipped--1 million in 3 weeks.
"In less than three weeks, Halo Wars has gone platinum. This morning, Microsoft announced that the real-time strategy spin-off of its sci-fi shooter phenomenon had sold--not shipped--more than 1 million copies worldwide."
Black Ops sold--not shipped--5.6 million in 24 hours.
Unless PD mentions that GT5 has sold through x amount of copies in their reports, it means shipped. EOD. :)

Now you're just trolling. Show me how it didn't sell 5.5 million in 3 months (someone else, not me, said 12 days). Don't all companies give shipped numbers and not actually how much the product has sold, if that's the case would that mean that no game on the 360 has actually sold that much?[QUOTE="SHR3DD3D"]

However, sometimes, they will announce sold-through numbers, to customers. When they do that, it will be reported in the sales report.
Some to do that, are Blizzard with the WoW titles, Activision with initial CoD sales and Bungie or MS with initial Halo sales.

Nice little research there Sherlock.;) But that's not what I wanted to know, you see NPD tracks about 40% of the sales data in the US alone which isn't 100% sell-through data. What you specifically said my friend was "shipped means nothing"which is wrong my friend.:( (or if you don't wanna be my friend, no biggie.:))
Anyways if you are talking about popularity of something, you should go with the sell-through data which normally aren't announced to begin with, but when it comes to how many units have been sold in order for the CORPORATION to make money, they take shipment data for their financial statements.:) At the end of the day, corportations submit data of what will make them look good the most, in the case of your links, their "sold-through" data.:)

Sold-through data however is not an accurate number, it's an approximation just like in the links you provided buddy, "the blockbuster title sold through approximately 5.6 million copies" so it's just as iffy and say "shipment data" however, shipment actually means something to the publisher and developers since the shipment they provide to retailers are basically "sold" to the retailers.:) Sell-through data is IMPOSSIBLE to collect at 100% in the US alone, (I believe NPD is at 40%, which is an industry standard for the "sell-through" data in the US) but shipment is trackable, that's how Sony and Microsoft announce their standings when it comes to how many units they have sold thus far.:)
Either way, corporations go with whatever will make them look good with their sales, whether it's sell-through or shipped.:P

Can you just cut the bullcrap? It is very annoying.
My initial point was that GT5 had shipped 5.5 mln in its first 12 days on the market, while Black Ops sold 5.6 mln, problem?
Now obviously, corporations mostly announce shipped numbers, I just make sure that people on SW don't confuse it with sold units. It is a difference. :)

I wasn't all that hyped for KZ3, until I played the beta and demo. Now I'm highly anticipating it. Alan Wake seemed like a cool idea, and if I still had a 360 I'd play it. That being said, the gameplay videos I've seen make me feel like they missed an opportunity with the game, turning into more of a shooter than the psychological thriller it could have been.
I haven't played it though, so I don't really know. No doubt both games were/will be welcome additions to their respective audiences.
alan wake is a masterpiece in terms of video game atmosphere and storytelling; truly, it's a classic, just like max payne before it.
1.) Alan Wake far from sucked, and saying Wake sucks is saying Killzone 3 sucks, considering they have the same score.
2.) Before the review cows hyped KZ3 as the Halo killer KZ2 was supposed to be.
3.) They both appear to be terrific games.
4.) You haven't played Killzone 3 yet and I doubt you played Alan Wake.

hype and flops are based on score alone. they're just tied.
All the hype for alan wake, a 5 year wait, and it turned out to completely suck
killzone 3 had very little hype, only graphical, which it surpassed and became the console graphics king
right4dead
yea...Alan Wake flopped 10 times harder than Killzone 3...it just didn't flop as hard as GT :( there are just so many big ps3 flops, it makes it so hard to escape "teh ownagez".
Trust me it's not a shooter over a thriller. It's more "CRAP I'm out of batteries, my gun needs to reload faster and I'm surrounded!! RUN!!!!! Flop 100x harder than kz2 . At least kz2 met it's hype aaae n shut the fanboys up who doubted the graphics. Now that kz3 scored unfairly the fanboys r bashing a game that got an 8.5 here. Gameinformer gave it a 9 so it flops here oh well . iwasgood2u
