Was i supposed to be impressed? It does look cool, but where in the video do they even hint that the game is open world. All i saw were some extremely linear sequences.[QUOTE="MC3887"][QUOTE="navyguy21"]

This is one of the worst sticky ever.... It just shows an FAQ with some pretty outaded answers...
Just in Alan Wake to be 8-10 hours....

wow... im hoping the 'Alan Wake is only 8+ hours long' source is not credible, or something... That would be a bummer.MethodManFTWIt's an interview with a german site. It's credible. And it's just five moths old. I don't know if you expect Remedy to add another ten hours when no one is looking. But Max Payne 2 was not longer and it's one of the best games ever made. So don't be so bummed.
Low-res textures, little to no normal mapping, and low-poly objects/environments... :(
I am disappoint.

I know you're being sarcastic. I'm a cow but I have to admit that this screenshot looks amazing, it's like a photo!
Dear God, look at the grass, the dirt, the trees, the lignting, shadow ... Now we can make threads compare the graphics ofAW with Crysis.

Stop being so hyperbolic. Just look at the tree branches, the far away building the car they all look crappy. I don't know why every exclusive ever made has to be graphics king, i just don't.there is a big difference between the best looking game ever made and being crappy. you are the one being hyperbolic.MethodManFTWHe just compared it to crysis. I never said the game looked crapy, i pointed out some things that look crappy. I'm not hyperbolic, the strength of this game is not in graphics its in artistic design and atmosphere.
Yeah the branches are not great but I dont think they're crappy either. Overall this screens looks great.
Zensword
The thing is is that you probably would not notice it unless you are right in front of the tree.. Also, thousands of tree's means no extra stlye/detail.
Most trees in videogames don't look that good either.
Would be too much work for developers to make them look realistic and all.

I noticed them just from the screnshoot. The three branches look like cardboard.[QUOTE="MC3887"]

Ok, man but that's not really an excuse. Not every exclusive is the next graphics king, when are people gonna realize that. The thing is is that you are in the minority when it comes to this games graphics. Alot of people think it looks really good, me included. Also, it is smart that they did that, it saves resources. Like I think KZ2 straight up looks better than UC2 and I think GOW3 has low rez ground texture(it does seriously), but they devs where smart, you usually focus ont he environment and character models.
He just goes after any 360 games. I do not care but just saying he can not be taken serious when he talks about anything 360.The game looks fine.

It probably means little blood and little to no cursing. Not every game needs to be GEOW/GOW.

Isn't your highest rated game (Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper) rated Teen? Its seems like you have an irrational hatred towards the 360, and saying that I played a PC game isn't going to help change that view.

I said that a game doesn't need gore to be mature, but using quick cuts makes the game look like one of those PG-13 horror movies.[QUOTE="opex07"][QUOTE="Revan_911"] I played Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 on the PC , it has nothing to do with the 360. its probably going to be like fable where you follow linear paths in a open world. still going to be great
Revan_911
Sounds more like GTA. Read again: "no loadings" :)
The No loading thing is an ancient FAQ answer regarding the PC version. Here's what Sam Lake says: The game was originally announced as having a large open world to explore. Is that still the case? We did try a more free-roaming approach at one point but decided that's not really the way we wanted to go. We want to deliver a good story and a good thriller and create the best possible rollercoaster ride through the game for the player. So the story is the means that guides the player through the game and through the game world. That being said, this path that the player is on is quite wide at times and all through the game there is a lot for the player to explore, but it's not a free-roaming sandbox. http://www.edge-online.com/features/interview-writing-alan-wake So it's not the best looking game, and it's not open world.... Which begs the question why does it matter that it isn't open world or the best looking game? Why make something that you honestly don't think is good or fits the kind of experience you are going for? The game looks good visually, and from alot of the hands on it apparently plays really well on top of that. Remedy also has a good track record of giving you a narrative worth following. I fail to see how this game has if anyway gone backwards. If anything this game looks like they sacrificed gimmicks and flash for a quality experience.[QUOTE="Revan_911"][QUOTE="PAL360"]The No loading thing is an ancient FAQ answer regarding the PC version. this faq was made after the pc version was canceled No it wasnt.... It may have been updated to answer some new questions, but i recognize those questions from way before. That doesn't take away from the fact that the 360 has a multi core processor, and can work in the same way as the PC version would have. I realize fanboys fear this game - it's only obvious because they're working overtime trying to find the smallest things wrong with it - but this is getting ridiculous. Their inability to admit that the 360 is equal to the PS3 is starting to get embarrassing.[QUOTE="toast_burner"][QUOTE="Revan_911"] The PC version was in production, that means that the FAQ is unchanged since the PC version was in production (which was boasted to use all quad cores) Revan_911
You're incredibly nitpicky and negative about absolutely everything. Oh no, the branches! The cuts! Who gives a ****? Do you want the game to be bad or something?
All the previews I've eyed through have been glowing. That's good enough for me as proof that Remedy knows what they're doing. That and their two previous games.
We knew also we wanted to make a thriller rather than a horror game. All too often in video games, horror just means blood and gore and monsters. Even if there are many elements in Alan Wake that you would call horror if you saw them pop up in a movie, we feel that 'thriller' is a much better definition for what we're doing.EurogamerSam Lake
