And apparelty PS5's code name is Project Epsilon

sauce

disregarding his personal speculation regarding the release date of PS4 which is 100% going to be 2020 and his guestimation about the PS5 price point (won't be any more than $499), his report findings are from an internal developer with Sony which he could not reveal is interesting.

Looks like Sony is All hands on Deck for PS5 game development already.

The specs he's referring to looks to be dev kit which will be cut down

  • AMD Zen 8 core on single processor
  • 14.20 Tflops
  • Navi graphics engine
  • 32gb GDDr6
  • 1TB SSD storage

This most likely a dev kit and would be cut down to something like...

  • AMD Zen 8 core on single processor
  • 12.00 Tflops
  • Navi Graphics engine
  • 16gb GDDr6
  • 1TB SSD storage

other points of note:

It's aiming for ultra high frame-rates and going to have out of the box BC codeing the PS5 for PS4 games with better performance.

The 32 gb of GDDr6 ram is a dead give away that's a dev kit.

Only an idiot would think Sony would be able to release their retail version of their console with that amount of ram.

I'm just being logical on this here.

damn you seem butthurt already, PS4 already has access to usb 3.0 external hard drives, I have a 3TB one hooked up to my PS4 now, no problem here.

also

Don't be upset because these specs rekt your current PC build and you'll need to spend 3x the amount in computer hardware to out do those specs

Looking at what Sony devs can do with 1.84 Tflops...PS5 will likely max all existing games PC has for the next couple of years and the exclusives will viciously mop the floor with top PC titles.

So I’m guessing that it’s ok to talk about the next gen consoles because several weeks ago it didn’t seem like it.

This is a leak...the other Xbox news is more official than this since it's has media outlets publishing articles on it and all.

@tgob89: Yeah I know it’s ok, I was just being a bit sarcastic because some people around here were laughing at the thought of a new Xbox console as it was “too soon” and that Microsoft was “killing” off the Xbox One. Regardless it doesn’t really matter whether someone from the company mentions new systems in the works or it’s a leak, it should be common knowledge that companies are always working on what their future systems might be like.

Nice same specs as a midrange+ 2018 pc! Sure us hermits will be so jealous of that two years from now! And no way they will add a 1gb ssd harddrive, but keep dreaming cows:)

i can't see PS5 having BC considering Sony would wanna make money from remasters and PS Now. They would be shooting themselves in the foot, almost like MS putting all their "exclusives" on PC.

I feel you on that but insecure fannies want a PS5 badly because of the One X. Not like the difference in visual "next gen" would be any greater than insignificant.

I don’t see $499 or 1TB SSD. Chances are Sony will stick with $399 and a 1TB SSD doesn’t sound realistic. Everything else sounds good but unfortunately I don’t believe this rumor.

Nice I hope this is true. It would suck for PS5 to play the worst version of most video games again.

P.S. You seem like a big fan of graphics, performance, and hardware, surely you play most yearly releases (aka multiplats) from 2013-2018 on PC right? Just wanna be sure. Cause you can't possibly be this enamored with hardware and have been stuck on shit version of most games for 6 years. That sounds like torture.

Actually, a 1 TB HHD could be possible, if Sony found a way to make the technology that much cheaper. Doubt I'll buy one though, I'm about done with buying new equipment other than a new Pc every four to six years. 10 consoles is enough for me.

Rumor or not, the latter specs doesn't seem that powerful. I mean like a significant boost in power. It seems there may be (likely) a PS5 Pro in 5 years from now. I guess pricing has a lot to do with it, which I could accept.

(Despite having a Pro, love it dearly, but I'm honestly not a fan of these mid-ben upgrades).

Seeing as they have actually increased their sales projections for the year, and sold more consoles last quarter than the Flopbone and Switch combined I doubt it.

This news isn't coming from Sony, it's more rumors and bullshit. Sony is keeping quiet about the PS5 as they should be considering they are cleaning house with the PS4 currently.

I don't agree with this, PS5 sounds like a significant boost over the base PS4 and PS4 Pro. Here's why:

  • 12 Tflops is a huge boost over the PS4 and even the PS4 Pro which are both rated at 1.84Tflops and 4.2 Tflops respectively. Couple that with the fact it's a newer architecture and the boost is even more significant. 12 Tflops puts it at GTX 1080Ti territory (even though AMD and Nvidia GPUs don't match in pound for pound when it comes to Tflop rating).

  • With 16GB of GDDR6 RAM that's a good boost from the 8 GB GDDR5 found in PS4 and PS4 Pro. Faster RAM and more of it is always a significant boost.

  • The AMD Ryzen CPU of the PS5 will utterly demolish the weakass Jaguars CPUs found in the PS4 and PS4 Pro.

Even though I think these rumored specs are fake because the 1TB SSD mentioned doesn't sound realistic, I still think they are a significant boost over the current consoles we have now.
