I'm not certain who said that. But does it matter though? Every format has piracy, its a inevitable. Its not just PC games or consoles, its music, movies, applications, electronic books and so forth.

GTA4 on PC would propably be pirated by millions, just like the previous GTAs, but it also would propably sell well over million copies on PC, just like the previous GTAs did With minimal costs of porting it from 360 it is like free money for T2. GtaIV isn't on PC atm and there is no V of course.

I dont care im going to buy it for my ps3 and play it on my 30in tv not my cheap pc 17in monitor.

Gta4 might not be on the pc but any hemit can afford a console if they really want it

Is this site even reliable at all? I mean this site just seems like it rips from kotaku along with it's own spin on things. GTA's of ALL things has sold very well on the PC platform, might not be up to the extent of the PS2 but I can say that the PC community will be severely disappointed by this move.

Call me when PC gamers start to care.

The mod community that San Andreas had was really HUGE in comparison to other PC games and the refined controls and better use of draw-distance (along with other graphical enchantment mind you) made the PC version a vastly superior version than it's console counterpart.

ALL the Grand Theft Auto games had a definitive version and I always felt that it was on the PC. If true (which I doubt as of now, what the hell kind of a site is "whatifgaming?") than I feel that itll be a huge blow on the huge potential it had among the PC community.

How so? It's the most basic rule in business: less competition means bigger sales. It's exactly like that also in videogame industry, why do you think publishers often delay their games beyond the holiday season? And GTA is huge, one of biggest IPs, the moment it appears the sales of other games would drop dramatically, it's always like that, after a while everything gets back to norm, but the drop is visible. GTA3, VC and SA each sold well over 1mln copies each on PC, GTA4 would do the same. no matter how you wish to deny it some part of this money will go to other PCgames.

And honestly who in their right minds can do anything about it? Yeah, PC pirates exist and too a much larger extent than the console counterpart but honestly PC sales are around or sometimes even above that of the console counterpart. There are few exceptions here and there like how COD4 appearantly sold gangbusters for the consoles (although the PC still showed very strong sales).

Assassins Creed even caught high up in those NPD sales and thats not including digital distribution.

Piracy has always existed with games, its never damaged it. Good games always sell regardless of piracy.

Plus piracy has always expaned the hardware base for platforms. Amiga anyone?

Console fanbois always bring up the piracy issue with PC. If it was the problem you pretend it to be why are there more PC games being made than console games? Why would companies continue to create AAAE and AAE games for PC if piracy was as bad as you try to make out?

Console rentals and trade-ins are a lot more damaging to the the console industry than piracy is to the PC industry.

Definately, they are desperate to get this done for consoles so putting it on the table for PC development seems far off for them but I do not doubt there will be a PC version.

As for a PC version, has there been any news about EA's planned buyout of Take-Two, Rockstar's parent company? Since EA started in the PC sphere and still gets a lot of business from it, I would think they'd be interested in a PC version as well, whether Rockstar itself is interested or not.

Both the 360 and Wii are doing great despite of piracy, the Nintendo DS even has an easier piracy method than most pc games and look how it's doing. The point I was trying to make is that the effect of piracy isn't half as bad as people make it out to be.

Even for the PC, piracy isn't hurting the industry as much as people claim it is. The reason for the lack in sales is the closing gab between the quality of indie/freegames and big budget titles, while DD is ensuring that both are reaching the same amount of people.
