Anyone else find the Gears 2 Vid a bit "underwhelming"

Oh what a sweet 2008 for the 360 indeed!

By no means am I saying it looks bad, on the contrarey I found the Visuals were great. ITs jsut, I expected to see something that looked much better than Gears 1, adn I really didnt see that. Yes, it was improved by quit a bit, but it wasnt like Gears 1 graphics times 5 or anything liek that. THe animations were very good though and all those Locusts looked great. Im just saying it isnt the best ive seen this gen. Of course, Nov. is still a ways off.

Agree 100%. Underwhelming???? You saw tens of locust, chain saw battle looked pimp and this is what May? They wont start pressing this disk for another 5 months. There will be much more to come I bet in the following months. Probably see a good build at E3. At least we dont have to hear about any delays......yet

I think this is what most of us expected, no? Most same-generation sequels turn out this way.

Visually it doesn't look that more impressive than the first one. I have only played the first one on the PC, never the X360, but I know the PC version looks better than the X360.

I think the biggest difference is probably the lighting/color palette. It's not as 'bland'.

Wow because I guarantee thats something that really wont be used a lot in the actual game. i could be wrong but that just seems like something they added for fluff. Something cool to do but 99% of the time any given situation its more practical to take actual cover than to do that. And still why is this impressive in the first place? MGS did this last gen, I'm a firm believe in if something was already done before in the exact same manner it therefor should there for not be made a huge deal about now. My exact reaction to that video was "wow why didn't they just do this in the first one?". Its not like the technology didn't exist. And out side of the human shield move and the revamped chainsaw it was the same combat, pixel for pixel you could say. Its just another Gears of War, not a bad thing the first was awesome. But I just fail to see why people are wetting their pants over that video.

This game look depressing, what kind of brown or gray you prefer?

Also it looks like they rip off the idea of the other to make their monsters? Lotr (big fat troll anyone?), Crysis (the flying thing look a lot like 1 of the Crysis monster). Anyway, I will not deny this will be another success. Mix a big bad-a** with lot of blood and you got an instant sucess, especially racist kid on xbl.

How do you know those characters on the ground would not react to a grenade exploding?

Epic did not promise a massive leap in visuals. This direction with the game is much wiser. Dont' forget the enviorments are actually open this time around, and aren't linear corridors.

Yeah I did. It was basically just Gears of War 1 with a couple new enemies, the same poor animations and a new weapon while being entirely on rails.

A lot of Xbox fanboys that I've seen on various message boards were hyping it up to look better than what was shown and some even went to the lengths of saying it'd look better than KZ2. :lol: What a joke.
