What if I actually have uses for a tablet?
what advantages does it provide that modern phones don't? (genuine question)
For me a few I can say what it will provide for me1. It's NOT a phone. See phones are important, if I need to communicate with someone, I don't want to worry about my phone dying by playing games, surfing the web, etc. I need my phone to stay in touch. An iPad won't kill my phone. It also still allows communication as a secondary device if I have a Wi-Fi signal (though I likely will rarely need to do so.)
2. Portable. A laptop can be portable sure, but if I'm traveling (which I have some travel plans coming up this year), I can watch movies, play games, etc. again without killing my phone. I have a laptop, but it only gets about 4-6 hours of battery life at most. I love my laptop, but it's also a media/entertainment laptop I use for gaming, movies, etc., but the iPad for me is more conevnient.
3. It can be a laptop for users. Not sure if you know, but you can do word documents, email, facebook/twitter/youtube/*enter social media here* on your iPad. In some ways, it can be just right enough for people who need to do their basic functions as mentioned above that a laptop provides.
Personally, it's another item I would use just when my laptop isn't convenient ( like taking to work for break), and it would be a "fun" thing to have. There will be uses for it for some people and not uses for others.
