First thing is first, who actually owns a 980 ti? Do you hermits even run games at 4k ultra settings? 4k for console gaming is not needed currently since most of the players are still using 1080p sets so as long as a game is 1080p native it's cake. Secondly 1080p with better shaders, assets, lighting and what not is easily more impressive than a 4k image with less details, that's why UC4 beats out on every PC games so far.

I don't, because I rather play them on 60fps on 1440p, 980ti could run games on 4k with 30fps, but I prefer the smoother experience, too bad consoles dont
Uncharted 4 looks great for the hardware it is running on.
But the reason it looks great is mainly due to art direction.
Most people don't concentrate too much on the background so most of the detail is up close.
If you look at the open areas in the game you will notice the severe lack of detail in objects further away.
I am talking cardboard tree levels of quality.
The draw distance and LOD has always suffered on console hardware.
This is why when people post the best looking screenshots they usually post close ups of the face and in a small area.
While UC4 is a good looking game it is obvious where they had to make cuts visually.
One thing you can easily notice in gameplay that photomode doesn't have is the dithering certain objects like hair or shadows.
But to sum this up I am rather pleased with current visuals in games for the most part although I want to see more of a push for draw distance and LOD which is far more distracting.
Games like Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Unity have awesome close ups but their draw distance and LOD is pretty jarring.
Although increasing draw distance and LOD can be extremely demanding as when forcing settings beyond max in The Witcher results in frame rates around the 40s at 2560x1440 with 2 970s.

SO much wrong in this post. First of all photomode keeps the same quality as gameplay's, they both dither at some places and don't at others. Nothing is enhanced in PM. There are plenty of outdoor areas with long draw distance and more than presentable LOD. Granted they're not as detailed for obvious reason, even PC games suffer from LOD issues too. But You'd be surprised people are more impress with Uc4's sweeping vistas than up close models.
Star Citizen is in it's own league, but other than that, i believe most PC gamers play their games with specs equivalent to current gen consoles (mid/high specs, 1080p, 30/60fps).
Have yet to play Uncharted 4, but going by the vids, it's one of the best looking games on any platform.
@gpuking: why do you keep posting shots that prove UC4 isn't better than many pc maxed out games?
I already posted a foliage comparison with forest maps in the tread.
If you want we can make Tatoine vs Madagascar comparison, but it's not going to go well for you.
Just what games are we comparing here, you hermits can't just pick every multiplatform games and pit them together against one UC4, that's like the most unfair thing ever in a comparison lol. Stick to one PC candidate for overall representation. So is it SC, BattleFront, TW3 or Tomb Raider?

Uncharted 4's graphical design makes the game look absolutely stunning while Star Citizen utilizes high-end effects to achieve that amazing look. One is not better than the other. Enjoy them both for what it is in my opinion. Star Citizen isn't built to be a flashy 5 to 10 hours game with shallow gameplay.
Also looking forward to UC4 tonight at midnight when I play it thanks to the pre-downloading.

Neither is UC4 mate. It's more like a 14-17 hours game rated 10/10 here and 94 meta, hardly shallow;). Oh did I mention it's actually a completed game, when is SC coming out?

PS4 is known to suffer heavily from draw distance and LOD.
And resolution can help a lot with showing more detail.
Keep in mind I didn't say UC4 looked bad just that if it was on PC it would get rid of some of the draw backs suck as lower draw distance, LOD and pop in.

This post sums it up pretty good. UC4 looks great, especially considering the hardware it's running on. When you run games on a tablet cpu with some extra cores and a gimped 7870 there will be obvious compromises.
Shallow gameplay isn't the same as the amount of content a game has. What does uncharted offers in terms of gameplay compared to star citizen?

Also being an exclusive helps to optimize the engine even further so the LOD wouldn't be nearly as severe as a multiplat.
That doesn't matter, even some parts of oblivion looks better than uncharted 4 in 4k , you don't seem to understand that games like uncharted 4 look so good because of increased texture resolution.. But if you increase the resolution of an older game to a crazy amount like 4k, that lower texture resolution game will all of sudden have higher resolution textures just because the overall resolution is so insanely high.
Of course that is if you can look past the lower polygons of animated objects, but with late last gen titles like crysis 3 those polygons arent that much less. Crysis 3 may be a last gen game, but the x360 and ps3 were watered down versions. You would be surprised what last gen machines can still handle when you crank down the texture resolution, overall resolution, antialiasing, shadowing, lighting and the amount of world objects.
Put a current gen title at 4k, like ac unity and uncharted 4 really doesn't look that impressive. In ac unity you come into a church where there are hundreds of npc's, with complex ai and extremely detailed. Put that through a monster pc at 4k and your eyes will fall out of your sockets.
Of course you need a 4k monitor or tv for that, and a 2000$ setup to boot. Something you don't have and haven't even seen yet, otherwise you wouldn't spout this nonsense. A game running on a gpu that hardly surpasses 7 year old pc tech with a gimped cpu will not match a pc game using todays tech. The release of the new cards in june will even make the comparison more ridiculous than it already is.
So...............you're a PC gamer again?
lol you claimed you were only playing consoles. When you decide which brand of fakeboying you want to follow get back to me.
I've been gaming for over 30 years, I build /buy a pc when I feel like it, but the last 8 years I have been primarly playing on a console but that doesn't mean I didn' play on the pc. I build like 5 game pc's since 2010. I sold my last one last year, because I didn't feel the need that have one at that time. I don't feel the need to have one right now either, not a beast pc anyway, my pc now is comparable to the consoles in power and very power friendly.
I might build one again because of the new cards nvidia will release, and because of the release of the virtuix omni.
but what does that have to do with it anyway, the question was.
Are PS 4 graphics matching upto the standard or even surpassing many PC games?
no they don't, the difference in hardware power is just too much.

No, I only responded to your comment, beside I already know that uncharted 4 has nothing in terms of visuals in comparison to other titles.

Of course it looks better than anything on PC. Best looking games on PC are literally Xbox 360 ports like that new Tomb Raider game.
I mean look at League of Legends. That's the most popular game on PC and it looks like shit. Hermits act like they care about graphics but they obviously don't.

@gpuking: why can't we compare multiple games? You compare every ps4 exclusive to SC.
But i've only compared BF so far.
Switching to SQ42 only makes it worse
Er, I didn't include KZSF, Infamous, DriveClub or Until Dawn when I was comparing The Order to SC now did I? It's always been a one on one fight. It's like you're using BattleFront's forest in a statement that would somehow give SC an advantage in foliage rendering which is absurd lol. But speaking of foliage here's some for you. I don't think Endor level even has grass lol.
@gpuking: you keep claiming each new ps4 exclusive is gfx king, all the time. get off it.
And those pics literally prove my point. Battlefront looks better in terms of foliage.
BF has some high res textures but there's hardly any grass thus saving tons resources on alpha maps. They are also not as dynamic as UC4's, the lack of volumetric lighting doesn't help either. You can easily see more depth in UC4's foliage.
Cows gonna cow. They can dish it out but not take it. Typical.
When someone calls out the PS4 for not performing as well as the PC, all the excuses come out and eveyones a lem. They act like it's unfair, taboo and pointless.
'News at 10, $2000 PC more powerful than 2013 console'.
'bu bu it's about teh games'
'I don't care about 60fps'
Why challenge the PC and act like bitches when challenged back?
@gpuking: you keep claiming each new ps4 exclusive is gfx king, all the time. get off it.

Don't bother with him. He has no idea what most graphical features like volumetric lighting or dynamic shadows do. Hell he probably doesn't even know what a texture is. I exposed him a few months ago in a Star Citizen thread. Didn't know what something basic like volumetric lighting was. I mean he claims "lack of volumetric lighting" when it is right in the picture you posted lol.
@gpuking: hardly any grass.....................................riiiiight
Also funny because according to DF, Uncharted 4 uses a pseudo-volumetric lighting solution and not actually a full volumetric one. The game also suffers from low resolution shadows(its weak point), 4X Anisotropic filtering, has worse hair effects than Tomb Raider, worst textures and features pre-calculated Global Illumination(a game like Crysis 3 released over 3 years ago had 3rd generation real-time global illumination).
The game still looks gorgeous but there were several compromises.
@casharmy: Firstly, you've never played a high end PC game, so you have absolutely nothing to base your comparison on. That's cool, you're just showing that your opinion is based on what other people say. Carry on following the heard. Have you even played Uncharted 4 yet?
Secondly, the UK release date is May 10th so the UK can't play it yet., hence "we will know in a couple of days". The world is not America.
@lastcoin You do realise that any PC component that out performs a PS4 will always out perform a PS4, regardless of the time it exists for or how powerful the new hardware that comes after it is. You also don't need anything more than an i3 CPU and a 750Ti GPU to get better performance in a lot of games and you never will, even in 100 years time.
lol you don't know me bud.
Stop acting like you know anything about me or what I've done or played. This is that next level fanboy projection garbage that comes from the most extreme fanatics that borders on lunacy. Stick to what you know. Furthermore, I'm NOT making a comparison Mr delusional hermit fakeboy, I haven't played UC4 and neither have you.
Also, yes I favor playstation but I am realistic and make reasonable arguments as I said when true current gen games like Star Citizen come out to PC things may change...but you on the other hand are extremely biased for xbox and hide being PC at every opportunity that presents itself. You only wear your hermit clothes when it's an opportunity to downplay something on PS4. Save you breath trying to suggest that someone else is biased other than yourself.
I really have hit a nerve there, bud.
So you've never played Uncharted 4 either, we're on equal footing there. However the PC game screenshots I posted are all my very own, which gives me, at least, a base to argue from. I'm not entirely basing my view on screenshots and compressed YouTube videos. As I've explained before I much prefer to post my own screenshots instead of pulling them off Google, that way I give a true representation of how I play games, instead of going with the "this what PC can do but I can't" thing.
Lol, you're worse than Tormental with the fakeboy and lemming accusations. please quote me being biased towards Xbox One, at anytime, ever. It's true that I rarely agree with the faithful but I'm certainly not an Xbot. In fact, I must be the strangest Lemming on this site seeing as I do not own an Xbox One (I never will either and way MS are going with the App Store I'll never buy another game from that shit hole either) yet I do own a PS4. Yes I am just as biased as you are but my bias is towards PC. Now would you kindly stop with the insults, they're counterintuitive to a healthy discussion.
I will indeed play UC4, it appears to be the best in the series, it all depends when I can fit it in around Stellaris and Total War: Warhammer but I guess it's only a ten hour play through so I may get it for the weekend, or I might wait until later in the year, haven't decided yet. I don't feel like I'm missing much anyway with games coming out that are much more to my taste.

Other games have that same issue with light sources.
I'd say the draw distance in The Witcher 3 is rather good. I notice very little of pop in with the latest patch and some config tweaks.
