i never play any fallout games before just like oblivion was my first elder scroll . i dont understand why these games are so bash its make no sense to me oblivion won game of the year.legol1
think of it this way...you get an apple, you love that apple, then you get another apple, and this apple is biggest and more juicy and you love it more, then that tree dies, and another tree takes that apple, puts worms in that apple, takes all the juice out of it, but makes the outside pretty, but the inside of the apple is filled with worms..and they give you that apple, now someone who hasn't had the previous apples will be indifferent, but the person that had those previous apples will be like wtf?

i understand your point of view but oblivion and fallout3 E3 demo do not taste full of worm maybe less sweety but you have no proof bethesda would have made the game very different if it was pc exclusives and bethesda must have a good reason to go mutiplat dont you think?i never play any fallout games before just like oblivion was my first elder scroll . i dont understand why these games are so bash its make no sense to me oblivion won game of the year.legol1
I know what you mean. I was certainly confused about that too. But that's why God invented the word "over-hyped", to describe games just like Oblivion.
I suppose it has to do with whether you've ever experienced something better than what Oblivion had to offer. Have you ever experienced an RPG that presented challenging, intimidating foes that you actually felt a sense of accomplishment and even some giddiness for having beaten? Have you ever experienced an RPG that made you actually upset over the fates of NPCs - actually care about them? Have you ever experienced an RPG that made you stop the game in order to think about a moral decision you had to make and weigh the consequences that would ensue? Have you ever experienced an RPG that made you careful and purposeful about the things you said and did, out of fear that NPCs might form unfavourable impressions of you or out of a desire to make yourself a celebrity whose name is instantly recognisable to everyone in the realm? How about one that you just want to replay to see all the different options and their effects and all the other guilds and spells and side-quests you didn't have access to because of your class and specialisation or school and in-game choices?
Well, if you haven't, that's a shame, because you're certainly not going to get any of that out of Oblivion.

Your only a tool if you say this could be the Best RPG ever created...
with that said your not a tool if you buy anygame..i will buy Fallout 3, i have played 1 and 2, its just unlike others i will treat this game as somthing new and not apart of the series...if its a letdown, oh well.
and yes i do hate bethesda for taking the fallout name..and if its another obvlion then the game will be a letdown for me..but it might not..ill just wait and see..
I was one of those rare people (atleast in these forums) that adored Oblivion, so I'm definitely getting Fallout 3, which looks even cooler.
I couldn't care less if some snobbish gamer thinks I'm a tool.

While they're sitting at their computer popping a vein and screaming at people over an internet forum,we'll be having fun with the game.
Good deal to me. :P
I've gotta say man. I've run into some serious fanboys in my day. But these fallout fanboys take home first place by a mile!full_disclosure
Yea its ridiculous. They should be happy that they will get to play another Fallout after 10 years, and made by one of the greatest, if not the greatest, RPG devs in the business
so wat is the reason why alot of ppl hate on this game? i just saw a trailer for it and it looks fun as hell bloody too and the graphics looks bad ass and the style of gameplay is cool too FPS RPG **** im sold im buying it cause im bored to death and need a new game to play.bushidotu
The Fallout nerds hate it because apparently Bethesda "doesnt know what they are doing and they are messing up the Fallout universe, making it Oblivion with guns"... Thats fine by me! :)

I'm not a Fallout fan, I havent even played them besides for like 10mins at a friends house. But I don't think they WANT a Fallout game if its not a true Fallout game. I may be wrong though. Also, Bethseda is not really the greatest RPG dev in the business. That may of been true around the Daggerfall/Morrowind era (never got to play Arena), but with Oblivion, I'd say they are around average.

Umm, rather you like it or not, Oblivion is one of the greatest RPG's ever made.

They have no competition though. There are tons of JRPG's these days but in this generation of console they are pretty much the only WRPG devs. And they're damn good at it too.

I wouldn't say all that, since Oblivion doesn't seem all that much like a traditional RPG. If there was an "open-world adventure" genre, it would fit very comfortably in that genre.
That being said, I think Oblivion is an excellent open-world adventure game (one of my top 5 game this gen) set in a very beautiful---if slightly conventional---world. It encourages hours and hours of exploration, unlike that linear trash called Final Fantasy X, which has you walking from point A to point B on a narrow pathway.
What will all the fanboys say when this game scores high AAA everywhere and possibly GOTY's?krp008
Probably something snobby.
Never played any fallout games so i dont care, if it ends up being good i'll buy it despite what the fanboys saymephisto_11Same here

No, no its not. "Oblivion" and "Great RPG" should not even be used in the same sentence.

I'm pretty sure BioWare/Obsidian/CD Projekt (These are the only ones that come to mind instantly this late) can be considered better RPG devs than Bethseda. Obisidan could be questioned, with their trackrecord of somewhat rushed/unfinished games. KotOR2 comes to mind...
If Diablo 3 turned first person, I'd wait outside of EB Games on the day of release with 5 of my D2 fanboy friends and we'd all have baseball bats.
death919
Right, so you'd go and beat up those that want to play the game, rather than go and bash up Blizzard when it's their fault.
Not only that, but you'd look like a ****in' geek doing that.
Of course not.
If you think you'll enjoy Fallout 3, buy it and to hell with what others say. Are you playing the game for them?

It's because the old Fallout fans are so wrapped up their nostalgia that they refuse to accept this game since it's getting 'dumbed down' from the boring turn based gameplay it had in the 90's.
Basically they're losers.
And you would be the sort of guy that thinks Oblivion is a decent RPG.
Everyones a tool for buying games at their original prices. Theres a word for this topic and i believe its called ....spin off....LOXO7
Yeah, I mean who would think spending £30 for a product that has taken years to develop would be reasonable? Software should be free, viva la revolution!
lol, of course not.
The better question is, is Fallout 3 really worth buying? Journalists seem to have reached a consensus with Fallout 3, it seems that it truly is "Oblivion with guns". Oblivion was a great game, just not in the way I wanted it to be. It still had great quests, good dungeons compared to others in the series, but there was rarely any roleplaying. The lack of roleplaying will be more pronounced and obvious this time around, as it has far more to live up to role playing wise. Fallout 3 will still be a great game, I'll probably enjoy it if I were to buy it. The only problem is, there are plenty of other high profile titles impending this year, like Left 4 Dead, Little Big Planet, Spore, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, Far Cry 2 and many others. A tough decision, I'll probably get it when it's relatively cheap, when good mods are already released, and I wont feel like a tool in the slightest.
