@Planeforger: safe space or not, the fact is these developers are making a product. They want to sell that product. If that product isnt interesting to their market and if the market they aimed at isnt giving them the money, then the product will fail. Simple as that.

The only thing that looks the same in that Intergalactic picture to me are those bushy ass eyebrows, which in the real photo looks alright on her because her hair balances it out.

I can go from playing the witch hoe Bayo, to mute in a gimp suit Hayabusa, to someones grandma in Returnal, to a whole slew of anthropomorphic game characters. Just never mattered to me, as long as the game is fun to play.
If this game has dope gameplay and actually lets me play it, I'll give it a go. If not, pass.

I agree that the Naughty Dog route doesnt interest me. With the emphasis on Cinematics. I prefer a more fun Astro Bot like game. But who is to say that if they made Jak 4 they wouldnt go the same route?
As for the protagonist. I will gladly play any kind of protagonist if the game is fun. From Bayonetta to Selene to Alear to Amy Rose. Just make the gameplay fun adn I am on board.

If a Japanese studio made the game the chick in the anime would have been the hero. Imagine how cool that would be, to have a design like her as the main character. Instead we got something that looks like somebody used the default option in a create a character mode
