I don't think that was a joke. Only partially, the "FPS add on" thing was a joke, that is the main game. But TF2 most definitely has a fully fledged economy centered around hats.[QUOTE="vtoshkatur"]
[QUOTE="Harisemo"]
Love the vanilla TF2 on xbox 360 so yeah you can take the not-so-awesome PC version as exclusive.
Harisemo
And what makes the PC version not-so-awesome?
All the updates and new weapons really ruin the awesome fun that was original TF2, TF2 is still a great game on PC though
I think that's subjective. Some people LOVE the new hats and Mann Co. stuff because it keeps the game a bit fresh.
Other people think its kind of an extra money waster or doesn't add much to the core gameplay aside from hats and an occasional little buff or perk (including Zero Punctuation's Yahtzee who thinks Valve is overdoing it and will never "perfect" it)
Personally I'm in between. I feel like the hats are just kind of pointless and they could use all the time making those hats into more Left 4 Dead 2 content (I haven't seen new content for it in ages other then the remade L4D1 maps a few months ago). Though I do think some of the additions like maps and weapons are cool, the hats are, well... dumb, and not what I look for in character customization.
lol. Its a game, that is released on multiple platforms, it is not an exclusive regardless of if it was an after thought or not. If they gave it to console owners as a free download outside the Orange box, it would still not be an exclusive.[QUOTE="BibiMaghoo"][QUOTE="vtoshkatur"]
But as a previous poster admitted "TF2 was an afterthought" on consoles. It's a full fledged game on PC. It's borderline a "Demo" of TF2 on consoles.
vtoshkatur
Team fortress 2 on consoles have about 1% of the content that's avalible for PC. Looking at it like that the console version is actually way less then most game demos.
That really doesnt matter though, the core game is multiplat. Its not arguable, no matter how you look at it. its a fact that the game is on multiple platforms, missing content or not.[QUOTE="vtoshkatur"][QUOTE="BibiMaghoo"] lol. ^This, If TF2 is a multiplat can we consider MW2,BO and MW3 the same game?

yes, even so. No one denies the game is vastly better on the PC. But you cannot possibly claim its an exclusive when its on multiple platforms.[QUOTE="vtoshkatur"][QUOTE="BibiMaghoo"] That really doesnt matter though, the core game is multiplat. yes, even so. No one denies the game is vastly better on the PC. But you cannot possibly claim its an exclusive when its on multiple platforms.Because the PC version has some more DLC and post release content, doesn't make the fact that TF2 is a multiplat any less true.
The argument that the extra DLC makes it not count, is like saying GTA IV was totally 360 exclusive because it had the two Episodes DLC exclusive for a while.
Its still the same damn game, plays the same, same name, graphics, engine, content, etc. Just the stuff after Valve didn't put on consoles, which honestly does not affect the gameplay, graphics or base game one bit. Its just "more" TF2, but still TF2.
I think this could be said about Valve games that are late in their "lives".
Left 4 Dead 2 on the PC has a new campaign, along with L4D1 campaigns. Dunno how long post-release support for Portal 2 PS3 will last.
flashn00b
Since Sony is buddy buddy with them, has an open online, and full allows Steamworks, I think it will probably last as long as the PC's post release support lasts.

lol, no I didnt, its still not an exclusive lol, no matter how different the game is. One version may be superior, its still not an exclusive, unless the definition is changed to suit PC owners.vanilla servers on pc exist, i even have one. i blocked every weapon and hat. since the 360 has no balance updates or bug fixes , vanilla servers on pc are better by default.Love the vanilla TF2 on xbox 360 so yeah you can take the not-so-awesome PC version as exclusive.

I consider the Mac and PC version's of TF2 equal, the same platform (Steam) and the same game.
lol, how are they exclusives when they are on other platforms? Do people understand what the word means?TF2 is a PC exclusive. So is Half Life 1 & 2. and CS/CSS

Anyways, saying TF2 should be considered "exclusive" is just retarded. Then you would still have Team Fortress 2 on consoles, the same game, the same name.
Its like saying The Godfather doesn't exist anywhere but Blu Ray because it has a few more "making of" segments and looks prettier.

But thats the thing, TF2 on consoles IS NOT the same game anymore. Not even close.
But it is the same game :P I give up lol. If people want to belive that a game released on multiple platforms is an exclusive, then I guess you can believe that, it doesnt really effect me. It doesnt make it true though lol. BibiMaghooIt isn't the same game at all. The PC version is dozens of updates worth of content ahead of the console versions. You won't get the same experience on a console.
this. There are rules to our non sense after all. MLB 09 the show wasn't a ps3 exclusive because it is on other platforms. This is not exclusive because it's on other platforms.Common sense says that the PC version is the "definitive" version not an exclusive to the platform though.

The console version of TF2 is superior anyways; better teamwork, more balanced, no stupid hats. The only downside is the lack of variety in maps.

And they didn't just add new content they evolved the gameplay as well. Now I'm not going to go as far as to say that it is a PC exclusive, that would be ridiculous. But they aren't the same game.
http://www.valvesoftware.com/games/tf2.html See the bit where it says available platforms, and the bit that lists more than the PC......Thats because its a MULTIPLATFORM GAME lol You are arguing against the people that made it, that tells me you are very wrong :P BibiMaghoo

So, we can remove MLB 10 and 11 as PS3 exclusives?
Exclusive is usually a term used when you are bragging about how one system is better than the other. TF2 on PC is a totally different game, honestly (okay a bit of an exaggeration) But it's not just small updates, these are massive, game changing ones. New maps, new guns, items, features ,etc. Theres enough in the updates to warrant a sequel.

I actually wonder how long it would take to update the vanilla version of TF2 to what it is now. The download time would be unreal.

If they are on other platforms, yes, of course. They are not exclusives. Having additional content does not make a game exclusive. If this logic is to be applied, then Bioshock is a PS3 exclusive, as it has extra content. You see how silly that is lol.

Lets see
the PC has
Motion Controller support (Razer Hydra)
ITS FREEE TO PLAY!
The many mods that give the game extra content
dem hats
the fact we actually get updates
and that pretty much no one plays it on consoles

Responding to an argument with an appeal to popularity. It's a logical fallacy, but most importantly, it's the one most often used by Call of Duty fans to defend their game of choice. And yes, any game is allowed to be popular. I just like attacking bad arguments, and with all the hatred Call of Duty gets around here, it amuses me to point out the similarity.
