I have a gut feeling that this game is going to be on the top of the top 100 list on torrent sites. This game is very single player focused which doesn't provide incentives for people to purchase the game at all just like many other RPGs on PC which have mediocre sales.
110million
The amount of wrong in this statement is so amazing I want to laugh.
1) Skyrim is 100% single player, and sold crazy well on PC
2) Half the Dark Souls experiance is online features, ones fairly unique compared to any other game
3) You obviously haven't played the game
4) Even niche titles sell well on Steam, but DARK SOULS won't?
One more just for you.
I have played the game and have never touched MP. I dont feel the need to when the single player experience is where it is at. Yes, skyrim is probably an exception and the reasons why niche titles sell well on steam is because they sell for less than $10 whereas DkS is most likely going to sell at $60.
Witcher 2 sold very well and it;s all SP. So because you haven't touched it, it's tacked on? You've only played half the game. How would you even know single player is where it's at without having played the multiplayer? The invasions, co-op, covenants: sunbros, darkmoon bros, darkwraiths, gravelords, all those groups add more and more to the multiplayer and make the pvp and co-op awesome. There is a large community that works on all sorts of pve and pvp builds, and there are plenty of people to try them on and with.
Demon's or Dark Souls having 'tacked on' MP is the biggest lie I've heard in all my time in System Wars, and 99% of my posts are here.
Not to be a killjoy..... But, I prefer to hear the confirmation from Namco Bandai themselves. That's just me.

dark souls shipped 1.5 million world wide, don't know how much each console did but i know the ps3 version sold way more then the 360 version. Its good to see this game going to other platforms so more people can enjoy it.[QUOTE="NaturalDisplay"]

Yep, even the CD Projekt producer pointed out how much he loved Demon's Souls and how he wished more games were like it these days. Witcher 2 and Dark Souls are two of my favorite games this gen, so it's obvious they had the right mindset.

Dark Souls sold over 1.5 million. I wouldn't call that mediocre, especially for such a niche title.

Considering Sony thought the first game was too niche to even localize, it's good numbers.
Once again, some Hermits are acting like complete buffoons. You guys get a great game, and now go on to insult the console versions that made it great in the first place. Pity. Blabadon
lol
Ive been anticipating so long for the damn facebook wall to finally break down and confirm it, but this magazine had to go announce it and spoil it all.
Great to finally hear it though.:P
I'd imagine how much it sells matter significantly more towards whether we get a sequel or not demons souls is at over a million sold on ps3 alone and dark souls is at 1.6 million so far from ps3 and 360 sales combined. If PC can sell 500,000 copies within a year it will be a great success for fromsoft and namco bandai and hopefully convince them to support the pc further in the future. Don't know what the break down between ps3 and 360 sales are but good chance that would be enough to surpass one of the individual console sales and for a hardcore rpg with as much internet hype surrounding it as dark souls is easily doable imo a million in sales on pc over a few years would not surprise me.I'm happy to see this because I can't wait to see what the modding community can come up with, even though I don't own a powerful gaming PC. But I can't help but feel Dark Souls will be pirated to hell and back.. I hope not, because I see this as a test for whether future Souls games will be released on the PC.
Twin-Blade
Inb4 blatant PC elitism. With that said I'm really looking forward to this, between Guild Wars 2 and Dark Souls I'm gonna have my RPG fill for the year easily.
I think some of you guys are going overboard the game isn't anything special.Chrome-I'm actually excited for the game, but some are just here to annoy the people who said it was never gonna come to pc

Yes. Making the odd post expressing a bit of excitement's just waaaay over the top
i do like the dark atmospheric setting but i'll probably get it if
I can play it by myself(i dont really like playing with others too much)
and if I get a retail version(my internect connection is very slow and if i do upgrade it ill probably going to have a download limit)
if it can meet these 2, i'll might buy it.
TheShadowLord07
You can play it by yourself ofcourse but there are things you should know. The online in this game works differently... if you're playing while connected to the internet other players can go into your gameworld and kill you. And they will do that.... a lot...... So if you wanna play freely just play w/o connecting.

The Witcher 2 has been pirated over 5 million times...
But only 1 million people actually bought the game, through a physical or a digital outlet.

I'm not saying you shouldn't release it for PC because of that statistic, but 5 million is quite a staggering number.

Don't bother, he's just a troll. He proved that by saying how he hasn't touched the multiplayer which is absurd since one cannot choose when they can be invaded by Dark Wraiths.

What did I just say?
I said they sold 1 million including digital sales.
According to Wikipedia:
"On August 30, 2011, the Warsaw Business Journal reported that The Witcher 2 had sold more than 940,000 copies.[24] According to Piotr Nielubowicz, a board member of CD Projekt RED, those the company had been expecting those sales figures.[24] Of those 940,000 copies sold, 200,000 were online sales (digital sales).[24]
In a separate news article dated November 11, 2011, PC Gamer reported similar statistics for online sales of The Witcher 2.[25] According to PC Gamer, Direct2Drive, Impulse and Gamersgate's combined sales were a total of 10,000.[25] GOG sold 40,000 copies.[25] Within the same time period, 200,000 copies of The Witcher 2 were sold on Steam.[25]"
Five million copies were pirated.
One million were bought legitimately.
That's staggering.

peterw007
Their calculation of piracy is based purely on speculation, not including any important factors like erratic speeds in P2P downloads,or slower Internet speeds in many countries that pirate the most. Now Im not saying the game wasn't pirated heavily,it probably was,but I don't trust that CDPR's statement that isn't backed by any true facts...
On the other hand,Witcher 1&2 were both financial successes, both provided good profit to the developer, and enabled them to expand.Piracy rate, whatever it was, didn't stop Witcher games from bringing great ammounts of profit, and that's what matters the most...
Haters gonna hate, Console fanboys will rage, the war will go on and on for centuries until the end of this forums, all I can say on this day: Praise The Sun, This is a glorious day and a true well deserved Victory for us PC Gamers.
Five million copies were pirated.5mln is staggeting number, but in reality it is meangingless and doesn't have any effect on the market. The only thing that matters in real world is the 1,1 mln sold numberOne million were bought legitimately.
That's staggering.

Aren't you jumping the gun a bit? Remember Halo? Bungie announced it for the Mac. Mac owners pointed fingers and laughed at PC gamers. Then Bungie announced Halo will also be out for the PC. PC gamers pointed fingers and laughed back at Mac owners.
Of course, we all know what happened after that. I can still imagine the shock from both Mac and PC camps.
Me? I'll wait until the preorders for Dark Souls PC start. I don't want to look like one of the above. He He.
