Batman: Arkham City has restored my faith in the video game medium

Mother of god this game is f*cking incredible. I bought the GOTY Edition and this is easily one of the best gaming value packs out there.

I spent all that time last year praising games like Crysis 2, BF3, Dark Souls, Skyrim, etc (all great games) while this one wasn't even a blip on my radar. Somebody hit me over the head. Batman AC is what allopen world games should strive to be like.

I'm buying that along with Asylum soon.

Well Derek Baker, it does look like a great game. Shame I'm not too huge on the combat.

Best and most well rounded game this gen.

Yeah, Batman Arkham City is one of the very few OMG games released this gen. I pretty much view it as the closest this gen has to an Ocarina of Time. It's an ambitious game that attempts so many varied things, but pulls everything off with near perfection seemlessly. If there is one game I would consider a masterpiece this gen it would definitely have to be Arkham City.

I never played Asylum either. I will probably check it out sometime, though I fear it wont be as great after having already played the masterpiece AC.

Arkham City is excellent. I played Arkham Asylum and Arkham City back to back in 2 days, both for the first time. They were both very amazing games, but I ended up liking Arkham Asylum just a tad bit more. I thought it had better level design, pacing, and it was a bit more structured. Arkham City is definitely a more polished game, and you can notice this through things like voice acting, cutscenes, lip syncing, the little details all come together in AC, but AA just left more of a lasting impression on me.

Definitely play both games, though. They are 2 of the best games this generation.

Well there are also interesting Side Quests in AC, but more importantly, the Riddler trophies and puzzles are probably the very best part in the whole game. It's just all so ingeniously designed. Then of course there are those awesome challenge rooms that test your skills. This game just has pretty much everything. Just talking about it and playing through it again makes me think that this game deserves no other score than a 10/10. It really is a masterwork in game design.

I probably would have been better off playing a game in between AA and AC, because I was a little Batman'd out by the end of AC after playing the 2 games back to back with hardly any breaks in between.

Arkham City is an almost perfect game. I don't understand how it topped Asylum but it certainly did IMO. I still pop it in every now and then to bash some thug faces in. Pity that recent DLC sucked.

I always hype great games, even the popular ones that actually deserve their popularity! Batman AC is one of those rare games that actually lives up to all the hype.

AC is one of the best games of the gen. The best I dunno. But it's pretty damn good.

Mr. Freeze is one of the most clever boss fights I've ever seen in a video game.
