Yeah, I've been putting it off ever since I learned that GFWL was going to be once again apart of it but after playing around in the steam demo I think I'll snag it maybe in July or so.

Just hope GFWL isn't a very big detractor from the expierence like Asylum was.

Well Derek Baker, it does look like a great game. Shame I'm not too huge on the combat.

What about dat Mr. Freeze!?

.
Boss fights in the whole game were handled pretty well... But the Ra's Al Ghul's fight for me stands out.

Yeah, those were pretty cool. Sorta similar to the Scarecrow segments from Arkham Asylum which were some of my favorite parts of AA.

.
I actually haven't played AA yet. Need to get it soon.

God of War 3, for one, and that's not deep at all. AC is a button masher even on Hard, it's the fluidity that sets it apart.

It is easily the best game this gen for me (though No More Heroes is right up there). Everything was just so perfect, the setting, mood, pacing, sound/music, combat, side missions, acting, presentation. Some of the best boss fights in any game period (besides the very last one).

how ? God of war is extremely simplistic. AC has a lot of depth and variety especially when trying to pull of perfect combos. There a many games with terrific fighting systems, but I would never put god of war among them.

Both Arkham games are two of the best games I've played this gen. I still remember first playing Arkham Asylum, and didn't stop until I beat the game. I think I beat that about four times in one week because it was so excellent. The only problem I have with Arkham City is that there is so much to do in the game that it becomes a little annoying to constantly comeplete all 440 of Ridler's Challenges. In the third game, I hope the make it where we can just keep playing New Game+. I loved New Game+, but you can only complete once, so that was very slightly disappointing.

I forsee myself replaying both games again and watching all the Batman movies before TDKR.

Because you often had to go out of your way to get these perfect combos when button mashing was quicker. Depth was there, but I only used the Gel in battle along with the Batarang near the end of the game. The only time you didn't have to button mash dodge and then attack was people with shields and batons. And knives, but they were easy to knock out first. God of War's enemies could be button mashed on a lower difficulty, but on higher ones required you to constantly roll, block, and actually use magic.

Restored your faith in the video game medium?

It did the exact opposite for me. :/

I don't need shiny graphics to have a good time playing a game.

The combat system also feels clunky and unsatisfying.

I like the part where it does everything for you and gives you way too much time to react to EVERYTHING.

It's time for me to be vocal about this. I loved Batman AA, I saw the great reviews and had to try it out, I was not dissapointed. The scarecrow parts, the combat, the level design, the pacing it was great! I was excited about Batman: AC, but when I got it, I actually found it hard to get into. I really wanted to like it, but it took me weeks to finish. The pacing and level design were off, it was forgettable in a lot of areas, and some of the boss fights simply annoyed me, it didn't have the awesome crocodile ( I forgot his name ) or scarecrow parts it was just A to B. I did enjoy it and loved the ending though, new game plus had me hooked from beginning to end, and it's weird Dead Space 2 was like this as well, it took me weeks to finish but after I do beat it I love it, just not as much as the predecessors before them. But yeah AA>>>AC. I can't believe I'm in the minority on that.

I agree with you. I don't know why, but I prefered AA. I couldn't get inot AC, I never even finished. It's not a bad game, maybe it was just fresher in AA. A few other share our opinion.

There wasn't any button mashing in Arkham City(or Asylum for that matter). If you tried to button mash, you'd break your combo which decimates your combat effectiveness.

I'm glad we agree, AA is so much more memorable than AC, and much more fun. AC just lost that spark that AA seemed to have. You have good taste sir. I'm glad you see where I'm coming from.

I think its very good but just not quite as exciting as the first game. I really hate how they explain all of the early puzzles to you. Give people a chance to think for themselves. That said, it has fantastic replay value.

First of all, show me a combat challenge where you've got a higher rank on the leaderboard than I do and I'll believe your first statement. Second, I dig on Samurai Warriors, but to say it has a deeper combat system than Arkham City is just foolishness. The entire moveset consists of up to 6 combos which consist of between 1-5 light attacks finished with a heavy attack and one 10-15 hit light attack combo. +1 super attack, provided you've got the power saved up for it. Batman's moveset consists of: Strike, counter, stun, beatdown, ground takedown, blade dodge takedown, takedown, Multi-ground takedown, Disarm & Destroy, area stun, combo Batarang, grapnel slam, combat gel, remote electrical charge. Not to mention the 12x combo modifier on gadget attacks. So by what reckoning could you possibly imagine the Warriors games are "deeper AND have more variety"?

What game has better combat than Arkham City?

Alot of games. Demons's Souls, Dark Souls, DMC3, GoW, Ninja Gaiden, etc. The combat in Batman AC is pretty good, but it's not really one of the things that makes it incredible. There's so many other great elements that shape this beastly mofo into a god tier video game.

I don't know what you're talking about. Arkham City has the best melee combat system in all of gaming. And I don't say that lightly.

Smoke another bowl. Batman is one of the few big console games left that can actually be considered a GAME. Open world, character progression, cutscenes placed where they belong (ie, NOT during gameplay), minimal scripted events and QTEs, challenging puzzles, and the list goes on. Batman AC is a game you play, not watch. The combat is fairly simplistic, but not to the point where you can close your eyes and win every time. Besides, there's a lot more to it's gameplay than the melee fights. The stealth aspects are amazing, some of the best out there.

I wouldn't say it was the best of 2011 but maybe the second best.

Batman AC is a brilliant game but there were equaly good games last year, like Skyrim, Gears 3 or The Witcher 2.

As much as I love the franchise the PC version is kind of a mess.

MasterShake, you can't like this game, it was actually good.

I'm buying that along with Asylum soon.

Maybe tomorrow..No.Monday.

Yes. Monday.

I never played Asylum either. I will probably check it out sometime, though I fear it wont be as great after having already played the masterpiece AC.

Arkham Asylum is awesome also, but much less open world. But i mean, its a precursor to the awesomeness that AC is.
