I'll get more use and playtime out of Skyrim. I haven't played a Zelda I enjoyed since OOT.

Obviously. It'll actually be a great game on console too, unlike the past couple of Bethesda RPGs, which for me are PC exclusives for all intents and purposes.

I dunno' if you noticed my title, but I'm kinda' Emperor of System Wars, so yeah, my opinion actually does matter quite a lot. FYI, I played Fallout 3 on my 360. Never again! :o Skyward Sword will be much better from a console gamer's perspective, and overall too.

Skyrim and Skyward Sword are on the same spectrum, but on each side of the end. It all comes down to personal preference as they will probably get comparable metascores.

And also both games have something the other can't pull off. For instance huge world vs compact world, but with WM+ that allows for 1:1 sword combat and a ton of new gameplay mechanics integrated within the Zelda universe.

For me personally, everything points towards Skyward Sword.

• I dislike "realistic" graphics. I'd go as far as to play Uncharted and GoW, but I can't enjoy a game such as Heavy Rain because it looks so boring as it's ultra realistic. Oblivion 4 had very stale and robotic animations, it looks so off in a game to have realistic character animations and so non fluid. Realism is a big turnoff, be it graphics, sim-like physics or whatever.
• I love compact, linear game design such as the one in the SMG games (my favorite genre is the platformer after all); they focus purely on gameplay and the obstacles ahead, I don't enjoy sandbox type of games. I want the developer to show me their work through amazing level designs and learning curves. No need for text or manuals, just very intuitive control schemes and so on. Accessible and streamlined experience.
• Skyrim is more of an "RPG" while to me Zelda games are glorified puzzle games and the temples are "levels", I love problem solving and Zelda delivers in that area.
• Skyward Sword is more innovative in terms of gamplay which just there peaks my interest.

All in all, I'm on the Skyward Sword side of the spectrum!

NeonNinja is laying down the gauntlet of truth right here folks. Skyward Sword will give you gaming memories. Skyrim will simply suck up 200 hours of your life and then you won't even remember why it was good, only that you played it for 200 hours.

In this case, Yes. For starters, what were SS gameplay trailers? The were poorly put together sequences that showed off mainly motion controls and nothing really impressive. Skyrim had a very (emphasis on very) well put together trailer that had outstanding music, was somewhat cinematic but with a healthy dose of gameplay,showed off the gorgeous scenery, gave hints to the story, showed an awesome dragon fight, some of the improvements, and more.

I'm still not convinced that skyward sword will be out this year

I couldn't choose... I'm gonna have to get both and play both at the same time. I just hope I don't confuse the two storylines. lol.

Probably Skyward sword since I don't really see the appeal in elder scrolls. Batman, BF3, UMVC and Diablo >both of those though.

Skyrim but neither really interest me.

Haven't seen anything interesting in Skyrim.

Zelda, we've seen almost nothing and Miyamoto is heavily involved
