All I know is if Zipper put out a Socom per year based off the Socom 2 formula, I would buy it and play it to death. If they just kept improving the graphics and making new maps...fine with me. That game was the most addictive shooter I have played. Thats the game in the Socom series that most fans point to as the best. Instead, Zipper kept drastically messing with the formula and gameplay. Socom 2 gameplay is a distant memory and so is Zipper's top sales. If COD changes up their formula, they risk everything they have built up.

[QUOTE="-ArchAngeL-777-"] I'm not sure I agree with that. BF2 and 2142 fans are not happy at all right now for the most part. The alpha did not impress them in the slightest. It played out more like Bad Company 3 than a BF2 sequel. DICE is definitely trying to please more people, but their leaning to the console side to do so. This move is for sales and trying to rope more COD people in. COD keeps rolling on because they have found the sweet spot in their formula, so why would they change it? If its not broken, which its far from that, dont fix it. DICE and everyone else are way behind in sales, so there is no need to panic and switch up for the sake of it.Wasdie

Well the latest trailer and updates from DICE (3d spotting fix, comm rose on the PC, dedicated server browsers on the consoles) have really changed a lot of people's minds literally overnight.

CoD keeps growing because they know how to work demographics, not necessarily improve the quality of their game.

What did they fix on the 3d spotting?

Do you really think as a developer, that just releasing the same game over and over again would be fun?

Lol....took them months to fix some simple as hell balance issues in Shotguns on MW2 and guess what those were still pretty bad after patching.

Cod isnt polished at all the multiplayer seems quickly thrown together heres some really simple garing issues in Black ops for example

Hitboxes are way off

The netcode seems to be put together by an amatuer team of coders

Map's have some of the stupidest glitches (more an MW2 thing and directly looking at the map Fuel)

Engine can be a bit of a chugger when smoke's deployed on PS3

Then i wont even bother going into the PC versions laundry list of problems i'll leave that for a PC player

Yeah that is a lot of polish in the game right there.

I will play BF3 on my PC 90% of the time but I will also get MW3 to play here and there with my brother and nephew on my Xbox. I'm a BF fan before anything else though and this impressed me big time.

I'm sure they have more artistic integrity than that. Whenever a band releases an album that sounds similar to there previous album they get blamed for selling out or conforming. Why should it be any different here? If I was a game developer I wouldn't want to create the same game just with new maps over and over again.

Not polished because of a few bugs. The gameplay is smooth, there is a reason it sales so much.

gameplay isnt smooth, it often has large FPS drops, major lag issues, hit detection issues and more.

Yeah, you can change up the formula if you want, but risk pissing off the fans that have made your series what it is. Thats what happened to Socom. They pissed off the original fans, and most left the series. It hasnt sold crap since. Is it fun to do the same thing over and over? Maybe, maybe not. Socom 2 had single mode maps that were specifically designed for that mode (extraction or escort or breach), etc. I'm sure it would be fun and creative to keep that theme and come up with some challenging breach maps or escort maps, etc. Socom always had single player, so you could do some cool stuff there too. Its not like they have to literally do the same thing over and over. Instead they chose to go to COD style generic multi-mode maps that work well on only a couple of game modes and add scopes to everything which made it a long-range camp fest. People criticize COD for having the same game every year. The core gameplay is the same, but the single player is totally different each year, and they are creating different environments for online each year as well. Its not like creativity is lost just because you keep the core gameplay. When devs want to do something different, they typically make a whole new game like Zipper did with MAG, or like West wanted to do at Infinity Ward before Activision screwed him.

the comments are overrating the game, the trailer was great but the comments are just hyping it more than it deserves.

Just seeing that jeep roll over the hill, allowing you to see all the other jeeps and tanks rolling together was enough for a nerd sensory overload.

Not polished because of a few bugs. The gameplay is smooth, there is a reason it sales so much.

Yeah, and that reason is because it has 50 million dollars(or some such arbitrary number) put behind the marketing campaign. That's why it sells so much. Many people who play CoD actually haven't even played a Battlefield game, I know a few of them myself. They are just casuals, they see the commercials and go, "oooh ahhh" and they rush out and buy it.

I know at least 3 people who have never played video games outside of COD and Angry Birds. There's actually a pretty large amount of people who buy only 1 full price retail game a year and that game is COD. It's kind of sad really that so many seem to outright refuse to try something new.

Couldn't agree more dude. Alot of my friends are like that. Bought a Ps3 just for COD and their entire collection consists of COD. Try and show them something else and it's apparently trash. You know why? Because it's not COD. Close minded indeed. It is great to go over to there house and totally kick there butt in a game I don't play though lol.

I have faith in the PS3 version. The footage from Jimmy Fallon exceeded my expectations. It looks good. Nevertheless, I might revisit this game on PC in five years. It looks like BF3 could be the peak of production value for quite a while.

viper kids back again? LOL didn't we already discuss this viper-kid.

You even admitted: BF3 is superior interms of graphics, engine, sound quality, etc. (technically better than> MW3).

and we went over the fact that after technical comparisons (graphics, etc, destruction), its your opinion in the end

Don't tell me you forgot.
