What makes you 'legitimately' care about gaming? how did you become legit? they pay the same amount as you so why do you get some special legitimacy? To developers Casuals are equal, if not more important, to hardcore gamers. That's why devs are 'casualising' and 'consolisaing' your games because casual support the developers more. FACTYou don't become 'legit' it's not a 'status' you just do. Somone who is geneuinely interested in film, will give a toss about it and probably enjoy discussing it - it's a strong interest or a passion.To casual gamers this really isn't, it's entertainment more often than not.
Developers are catering to a general market because there is money to be made; the market itself is extremely diverse so do keep this in mind. That's not to say there isn't a huge percentage of the market that's still slanted towards gamers, as much as accommodating those not used to the level of intricacies.
It's business triple A big budget usually demmands it.
