the 2 arguments that PCgamers are always shouting about are 2 things I dont want...Jets=more easy worthless kills, less time playing.....and 64 players over 24 is just more people running around and less time staying alive, too much going on all the time.

I like 12 vs 12 better and could care less about jets, choppers, tanks,or trucks..

VanDammFan

Then get it on PC and join servers that have jets disabled/player banned if they get in one, or just host your own server and do the same.

Then get it on PC and join servers thatare 24 player max, or 20, or 18, or 16, or 14, or 12, or 10, etc... or just host your own server and do the same.

Do you notice a pattern forming here with the PC version of the game?

I vote PS3 because the visual will be close but the controller wins every time as far as ease of use and ALREADY configured for perfection. Would rather use XBOX controller but hey, no biggie. Keyboard is just outdated, cumbersome, and too many buttons to mess with.

in before..."OMG yea thats a down side, too many buttons"

VanDammFan

Then get it on PC and use the Dualshock 3 or Joypad or any possible gamepad you can think of, or use the Novint Falcon, or use a joystic, or just use the mouse/keyboard setup. Oh look at that, you get more options and personal customization when you play the game on the PC.

Oh, and I am just laughing at how you consider too many buttons as a negative. You don't have to use every single key and mouse button to play the game, you do know that right? When it comes to gaming on the PC, you get to choose you own layout.

Last thing, to the person who made the comment that they would much rather sit on their couch and play on their HDTV using a gamepad, you can do all that with a PC. Ignorance...

PS3, all of my friends (especially the ones who are Battlefield fans) play on PS3, and no matter how great people claim the PC version is; Battlefield is infinitely more fun with friends (from my personal experience).

I am at work and there is nothing to do. It is sad that there are still people on these forums that don't know how PCs work when it comes to gaming yet they argue for consoles over PCs. Example, playing on HDTVs, using gamepads and other input devices. In any aspect of my life, if I choose a sode on something (politics, car purchases, etc..) I make sure to learn as much about all sides before choosing and continue to stay up to date as changes/additions/whatever occur on both sides and I update my side based on those changes.

What? Yea, the console version only works because you hooked your gamepad into it and hooked it up to a TV... same with the PC, it also works already...

That was a lot of replies! Anyway, I think I'll get it for PC first, after upgrade to GTX 580 but I will preorder, then go halvsies with my brother. Looking for friends on steam and origin to play BF3 with later when it gets out. Add me Steam and Origin: ahelplesslamb

If I had a High end PC and a good internet connection, I would choose PC in a heartbeat. But since I don't, I must improvise (PS3)

Yea, like any thread on SW, we all kinda go off on crazy debates that barely tie into the original post.

I will be getting the game on Origin. I'll add you, but if you wanna go on ahead and add me, you can.

Should be 'scoob1287' for Steam and then 'craig1287' for Origin.

Yeah, Origin seems the best for preordering, or just getting the game, for BF3 since it has to be used under that aswell, even if you have a disk.

[QUOTE="ZombieKiller7"][QUOTE="Arach666"] Only if you buy alienware or you don´t know what you´re doing.

A high end rig that someone competent puts together easily costs at least half of that.

jedikevin2

Price me out a high end rig from Newegg. Go.

What is High end to you? Playing on a 720p hdtv at full out graphics? Playing on 3 screens at some resolution.. The word "High end" changes ever 2 months. I can tell you this though my so called "bare minimum pc" can play anything I want at very high graphical content. If you want someone to price you out some rig, head to the pc hardware forum and please explain everything you want (members set you up with builds base on price and country). A basic I5 2500K with something like a gtx 560ti or amd 6950 is around 800 dollars on newegg and if you really want to give more specifics head to the correct forum. There is already a few threads there on this subject.

Well for example I know the high end video cards are $400+, I know the better mobo's are $200 easy, power supply, case, dvd, RAM, fans, wiring, etc. I know each of those are $100-$200 a pop, an HDD (maybe SSD), not to mention Windows 7 is something like $299. I'm a regular on Tom's Hardware, I know what PC hardware costs. You /can/ squeak by with a $700-$800 rig. But why would I do that instead of "squeaking by" on a PS3 which costs $249 and gives me access to a number of exclusives. And what about all the restrictions they put on PC games nowadays? DRM is a big issue for me and I refuse to accept it. These days I only play stuff you can get on GOG, have 10 year old Starcraft, Defcon, etc. If it doesn't come on disk, clean without having to register, etc, then I'm not interested. Could be the best game in the world. Could be BF3. Don't really care. Microsoft, EA and Activision are crooks, I aint giving them any money or registering on their "service."

So now I get it... You only assume High end if it has some 400 dollar + video card, a 200 dollar motherboard, 100-200 dollar harddrives and 300 dollar windows 7... All i can say is LOL... Some really high exaggerations there but thats your feeling.. Guess I will be "squeaking by Lol"...

FYI... Toms Hardware does nothing for your case when it comes down to Pc parts etc. Atleast now you have moved over to now stated "high end" which again doesn't mean much. a i2500K build will run you around 800 dollars and that to me would be high end. What I use, I would consider is mid level and again will be get all the performance I want (again, only cost me 300 dollars). Its all about perspective. I just wanted to see where you were getting this "couple grand" argument and now I see.

What do you think "high end" means? A $99 video card? Maybe someday I'll get back into PC gaming. For now I'm enjoying myself on these crappy consoles.

Base on cards out right now... (Just a general view on cards)

Anything up to a 5670/6670 would be low end with the 6670 being the upmost low end.

6690- to say a GTX 460/6850 or older gen cards say the AMD 5850, AMD 4890, GTX 275's etc would mid level.

5870/6870-gtx 590 would be high end for me.

Price wise:

Sub 100 cards.. low level

Sub 200 cards mid level

anything over 200... High end.

So in essence, someone building a i2500K with 4gb of ram, 1 tb harddrive, windows 7, and say a GTX 560 or 560ti/AMD 6950 would be looking at around 800 dollars. If you drop down, someone with a phenom iix4 with say a gtx 460 4gb ram, windows 7 etc would be looking at 400-600 dollars in the mid level. Just the beauty of pc prices. Its why I was wondering where this couple grand was coming from. Yes, you could spend that much on a Pc but you certainly do not have too to enjoy games in very high quality.

-WHAT? $100-$200 or each of those? Yea, if they are made of gold I guess...

PSU $49.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152035

Case $69.99 after MIR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021&cm_sp=Cat_Computer_Cases-_-Spotlight-_-11-129-021

DVD Drive $16.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827118031

8GB RAM (twice what you really need) $48.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231417

-Not sure why you mention fans (CPU, GPU, PSU all come with their own fans and case comes with 3 120mm and 1 200mm fan) and wiring (since everything comes with the wires they need)? So you mentioned six things that 'cost' $100-$200 each (total = $600-$1,200) and I just found those things in under 2 minutes on 1 site costing $185.96. Wow, you really do know so much about PC hardware. Also, these are all amazing GPUs that will handle any modern game for the next few years;

$229.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125351

$219.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130610

$194.99 after MIR and comes w/ Deus Ex free http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150563

$249.99 after MIR and comes w/ Deus Ex free http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102945

-Again, I found this in a matter of minutes from just one site, all under $300. So much for $400+.

-p.s. Sorry for all the URLs, GS not letting me link things the past few days.

Are people really arguing that less content and less options is better? I understand preference, being destitute and such, but leave it at that.

Thing is pcgamers get butthurt over everything..simple..its sad when your platform of choice is showing signs of fading..

VanDammFan

I'm sorry but we certainly aren't the butthurt ones when it comes to BF3, as you guys are the ones who will be left with the considerably reduced version.

And that goes for almost all other multiplats, most of which are factually superior on PC in nearly every way.

OK I cant reply to everyone that has something negative to say about my reply..SO I will just make it plain and simple..CONSOLES make gaming easy, fun, with veyr little knowledge at all. You hook up cords, put in game, play..The controller will work 100% of the time. You never have to configure things..THIS is why console will always win with people that JUST WANT TO PLAY.

Call me a console fanboy, ignorant ,dumb whatever you want. I dont care...At least what I say is fact. Put the game in the console...WORKS....Put the game in the PC...might work might not, might have to use the keyboard might get to use a controller..and at that you have to configure the keys for both..MOST people dont want to do this..Its a pain. GO ahead and say how easy it is..FOR some people climbing mountains are easy, but guess what...Its not..

I have said before that I would probably get BF3 for PC, but every day I change my mind. I sure dont want BF3 for pc because I think it will be better..Just wanted it for pc cause I know it will be played 10 years from now..Thats it..The larger teams dont matter, the jets dont matter the 5% graphic increase dont matter and m/k dont matter.

Thing is pcgamers get butthurt over everything..simple..its sad when your platform of choice is showing signs of fading..It was the same way when tapes took over music, then cd,then mp3..people that like whats dying tend to stand by the side until death..

Everything my PC can do...my consoles can do just as well OR better..now...get off my back and everyone elses that feels this way..

VanDammFan

PC makes gaming easy, fun, and you don't even need any kind of knowledge to set it up, just like a console. You just hook it all up and viola! Start installing some games. The keyboard and mouse will work 100% of the time, and you don't need to configure anything. What's that? You don't like the way it's layed out for controls? Don't worry bro. You have total customization over that. Don't like a keyboard and mouse? You can use a 360 controller, or even PS3 controller, and it'll automatically be mapped in a lot of games these days. Don't even like controllers? We have neuro-sensing devices so you can just sit back and play. No hand movement required!

Larger teams don't matter? Then why not still get the superior version and just play on a 24 player map? 5% graphics increase? I thought you built a gaming rig didn't you? Even you should know it's far beyond a 5% graphical increase. PC version absolutely smashes the PS3 version, and the alpha was running at the lowest settings. It's Metro 2033 all over again where the 360 version couldn't even touch PC's lowest settings.

Console gamers get jelly because their wimpy, locked-down consoles simply never could keep up with PC. I mean just look at all the BF3 talk. Consolites are clearly quite butthurt that devs aren't developing first for them, and dumbing down the game across all platforms so they get the same version. It is quite sad when devs start moving away from where all the big bucks supposedly are, back to PC simply because developing for consoles takes far too much money. Since consolites aren't buying their games and supporting them, they're forced to move to the platform that will.

If your console can do everything your PC can do and/or better, then you must have one old PC.

The PC version of BF3 is going to be Obviously the best version EVERYONE KNOWS THIS, it has the better graphics, it has some exclusive content I believe, and it has 64 players as apposed to 24......I'm still getting it for the 360 (should have been a 360 option!lol) Reasons: I have WAY more friends on consoles, and I like to game with friends not random people, to get the game looking at its best your going to need more than a 600.00 rig thats just a fact, I just want to put the disc in and go screw all the crap you to go through to get a game running on a PC, and honestly PC players act like Elitist pigs, I don't have time for people like that, I really dont. Gaming is suppose to be fun, if Graphics were a games main selling point I wouldn't be still playing classic PS,PS2, Original Xbox, and Nintendo and SNES games lol.

Seriously we all get the PC version is going to be better.....but thanks to consoles the game will sell triple what it would if it was PC only, thats a point you can't argue. If gaming was PC only, gaming would be now where near as popular or the art form it is now days. PC may have been first but seriously its not always best. Consoles are just so much easier to use for alot of people and cheaper. I use to game on PC, got sick of upgrading every other year, and online gaming IS NOT FUN IF YOU HAVE A WEAK PC! Consoles are a level playing field all around with intergrated friendlist etc. PC, every game is different.

So really get off of your high horse. Your really not that special. You have graphics and 40 more player online big deal. Ill take the inferior version and all of XBOX LIVES options, and the fact I can just put the disc in and play over the PC version anyday. You PC guys are so insecure that your UBER PC is being threatened by consoles. Go back to your basement, have your mom get some pop tarts while you beat it to a starwars action figure, play WoW and shut up. None of us care about you.

I have a few friends getting the PS3 version but I don't really know anyone getting the PC version but I will most likely still settle for the PC version. I played BC2 a bit with friends and it's not like it boosted the fun I had significantly. I'm sure the superior graphics and much higher player count and stability will more than make up for it :)

I'm a regular on Tom's Hardware, I know what PC hardware costs.arto1223

-WHAT? $100-$200 or each of those? Yea, if they are made of gold I guess...

PSU $49.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152035

Case $69.99 after MIR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021&cm_sp=Cat_Computer_Cases-_-Spotlight-_-11-129-021

DVD Drive $16.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827118031

8GB RAM (twice what you really need) $48.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231417

-Not sure why you mention fans (CPU, GPU, PSU all come with their own fans and case comes with 3 120mm and 1 200mm fan) and wiring (since everything comes with the wires they need)? So you mentioned six things that 'cost' $100-$200 each (total = $600-$1,200) and I just found those things in under 2 minutes on 1 site costing $185.96. Wow, you really do know so much about PC hardware. Also, these are all amazing GPUs that will handle any modern game for the next few years;

I count $400 so far. You forgot CPU, Mobo, HDD, the OS, and things like an extra long cat 5, keyboard/mouse, wired 360 controller, sound system (and that's assuming you already own a good monitor) pushing it up past $1000, for what I consider "mid-level" spec. And after all that you can't play Uncharted, Halo, RDR, etc. Meanwhile on my crappy $299 PS3 I can play BF3. And Uncharted. And RDR. And most importantly you know the hardware will have 10 years of support, games, etc. They still manufacture PS2's, did you know that? During this 10 years time, you will be forced to upgrade 2-3 times, reinstall drivers, etc etc. Believe me my friends, I've been through all this. Been thru it for 2 decades. I was upgrading video cards when you were born. And now we are forced into DD, disks are hit or miss, got to watch out for DRM, some games will not play unless you are using the correct OS. Driver SF has always-on DRM. Diablo 3, always-on DRM. I would rather have this malicious code running on a $299 box that I'll throw out in the end, than have these people running their spyware on my PC. You guys are lucky, Valve pretty much saved PC gaming. But now with Origin, might see it go back in the toilet and hit the flusher. Now you will have every 2 bit publisher requiring an account, it's like you have to login to XBL to play BF3, then you have to login to PSN to play CoD, then you have to login to Battlenet to play Diablo, and so forth. You think Microsoft will let you keep playing online for free? They want a piece of that pie too. It's not just Xbox Live.

Why on earth should you include the cost of a lan cable and a 360 controller and a sound system?

I vote PS3 because the visual will be close but the controller wins every time as far as ease of use and ALREADY configured for perfection. Would rather use XBOX controller but hey, no biggie. Keyboard is just outdated, cumbersome, and too many buttons to mess with.

in before..."OMG yea thats a down side, too many buttons"

VanDammFan
I guarantee you the visuals will not be close, please stop deluding yourself.

not fair dude, i am a consolite but i recognise that the PC is clearly the superior sytem for gameing and has just as much a place as consoles in the games industry.

These are again all from one site and I did no real searching for good deals.

I don't include a price for OS since Ubuntu is free. Extra long cat. 5 cable??? Really? Sound system??? Why do I have to buy a sound system if I game on PC? Whay can't I just use built in speakers? Stop making assumptions that all PC gamers buy the most high end components because we don't. Just look at Steams hardware/software surveys to get a good view of what people have.

Meanwhile, on my awesome PC, I can play BF3. And S.T.A.L.K.E.R., and Crysis/Warhead, and Shattered Horrizon, Age of Empires, Starcraft II, Firefall, Killing Floor, E.Y.E., Minecraft, Terraria, Amnesia, Company if Heroes, Cryostasis, The Ball, The Witcher, and other great PC games. (and don't say, "well those games don't interest me" because not everyone is intersted in the games you mentioned). Oh, and yes you are so right that now, because of Origin, every company will start there own DD site/software that require people to only be able to play their games through them. It's not like the fact that EA is the 2nd largest video game publisher has anything to do with that...

I vote PS3 because the visual will be close but the controller wins every time as far as ease of use and ALREADY configured for perfection. Would rather use XBOX controller but hey, no biggie. Keyboard is just outdated, cumbersome, and too many buttons to mess with.

I guarantee you the visuals will not be close, please stop deluding yourself.

Wait, he said that? That's crazy, it looks way better on PC and we still haven't seen it maxed out yet. I'll try to max it out if it supports SLI at 1920x1080-1920x1200 though.

Use a Joystick or gamepad for flying jets/heli and m/kb for infantry controls and enjoy bf3 in all its graphical glory at 1920x1080 with 60+fps and 64 players battles :DDJ_Headshot
I really hope controller support is better than BC2.

Why on earth should you include the cost of a lan cable and a 360 controller and a sound system? You do know that you can use a monitor with speakers or use a TV right? Just like you do with the consoles. Wow.DragonfireXZ95
Because consoles come with WiFi transcievers and controllers. Using PC with a TV defeats the purpose of using a PC. Then you are stuck at 1080p same as consoles. Unless you can push a PC to 1800x1200 resolution, then you haven't accomplished anything, you're just playing on the same rez as consoles, except their games are optimized for those resolutions and yours aren't.

Well the 360 version will upscale to 1080p which is the same as 1920x1080 The versions are closer than you think, people just feel the need to justify the extra money.
