Understand- each gen provides different experiences. If you look back, truth is you'd probably prefer this list over some old games.

And besides, the 360 has a pure hybrid of JRPGs and WRPGs. Maybe a little more JRPGs, but it is still balanced.

You seem to be forgetting Blizzard/Bioware/Obsidian and D@D.

really PSOP? thought it only had 2 or 3 rpgs. Also the PS3 has a better selection of RPGs then the wii.

First the PSP has FF7:CC, Monster Rancher, Star Ocean 1 and 2 are coming, Xenogears is coming to the download, FF1 remake, FF2 remake, and Kingdom Hearts coming.

Wii has FF: fables, TOS2, Paper Mario, King's Story, FF:CC and Fushigi no Dungeon 2

With FF13 on either system the only RPG I am looking forward to on the PS3 is Valkyria Chronicles which comes out in November.

Where I plan on buying FF: Fables next week.

Other than that? how is NOT an RPG? You roleplay your own character, doing whatever you choose, you stat up, you fight bosses.

I pretty much like any quality rpg. I don't like WOW. Not because it's not quality, it is, but because it plays nothing like rpgs. It's basically a grindfest. It doesn't really have a proper story build up either.

People group jrpgs and wrpgs apart. MMOs need to be grouped even further apart.

Well for a few reasons Bond

1 Its going to be the first Final fantasy game to be in such a setting and most probably be rated M.

Secondly, I really enjoyed the kingdom hearts battle system

Also, although it is a TPS, its going to be mainly sword fights not just guns ( Im basing this off the trailer). The game just seems interesting to me, thinking of the possibilitys such as equiping different weapons like in KH. Basically it seems like a more adult version of KH in HD, which I really want :)

Nope, being made for the pc ground up, no multiplat in mind, no timed exclusive, no simultaneous or started development on other formats, afterwords, they said they are thinking about consoles, they said, franchise, fall we know, it might be a "Dark Allaince" action oriented game. Even at that, it's pc, no dumbing down, no control pad in mind.

Most of the games listed for the 360 are diet coke RPG's, if you think diet coke is better than regular coke, knock yourself out.

No, WoW doesn't have a proper story. Do people not see that an rpg needs some sort of personal conflict? You're playing a role and that role must be fleshed out. They may not just change the world. They just have to show the impact of something greatly to a character. Role choosing doesn't matter for it to be role playing. You just have to play a role of a very fleshed out role

And for the record- Final Fantasy 13 has battle screens with regular ATB (but sped up) battling.

Pure opinion, we play out the roles of the Heroes, just because the camera doesnt obsess about us. doesnt make it any less so, we live out the Conflicts of the factions.

Your Roles in an RPG are not led by scripted characters, which why alot of people here argue that most JRPG's are not true RPGs like alot of Western games that thrive on open world and self-created characters.

Our story and role changes on what myself and my friends/guild mates do, my story is told in quest chains leading up to the final battle.

Sorry, JRPG's are not prime examples, if you think so ... then ... well.... I have to agree to disagree.

WoW has incredible ammounts of lore, lore is story, you play out the stories.

The Burning Crusade was amazing for this, everything important ( Aka non leveling quests ) fitted in perfectly.

This isn't neccessarily bad, but it's just not an rpg.

Basically WoW is classified as a rpg on the fact that you level up and get better gear. Although these are things you find in rpgs, it doesn't make them a rpg.

Nothing wrong with not being a rpg though.
