What concept of aim assist do you think I don't understand?um... dude. there's no point in arguing over Aim Assist if you dont know what it actually does
ogvampire
Really? How come when I aim towards the side of the screens the reticule moves faster/slower(Depending on exactly where)? I'm pretty sure that falls under aim assist. Why would I care about on rail shooters? I have no idea why any one would actually buy one for a console.II-FBIsniper-II
Wait!... You are calling that aim assist?
[QUOTE="ogvampire"]What concept of aim assist do you think I don't understand?um... dude. there's no point in arguing over Aim Assist if you dont know what it actually does
II-FBIsniper-II
Lol. THAT isn't to asist you aim (aim assist), thats to move your camera. How come on-rail shooters doesn't need to slowdown/speedup anywhere to assist your aim? Because you don't need to move the camera there...

the fact that you think camera movement has anything to do with Aim Assist kinda proves you dont know what youre talking about

Because you don't need to move the camera there... :roll:loco145If that wasn't there, don't you think aiming would be much more difficult in a Wii FPS game? On rail shooters don't need aim assist because they don't use the "accuracy box" that standard shooters on the Wii need.

The only difference with FPS and on-rail fps is that you don't need to move the camera while on rails. But yes, if that "speeding up near the edge" wasn't present it would be a lot harder... to move the camera. And you have yet to mention dual analog games lack of recoil

Accuracy box? What the hell is that?
The box you speak of is for camera moving only, the closer you get or pass through the edges of the box the faster you turn. It has NOTHING to do with any kind of aim assist.

I have not played MoH:H2 (I have played MP3). It looks about the same as MP3. Different, not better.
You are clearly in the minority, look at the poll. And no, its not just 360 fanboys voting. I can guarantee you that the majority of posters here have at one time or another at least tried the Wiimote on an FPS, like me for example. I just dont think its better.
Dual analogue FPS controls have been perfected, it feels just right. On Wii, theres a lot of room for improvement, on that video of MoH:H2 the gameplay looked pretty clunky. Sometimes you are aiming somewhere where the gun isnt.

while some people may be more comfortable using the traditional controller, its hard to deny the fact that the Wiimote is so much more accurate.

It's actually easy for fanboys to deny...
Is the Wii mote flawed? Yes Is it the step in the right direction? Yes
As for games on the 360, yes you can turn off auto-aim. Yet, for some wierd reason, I felt that the shooting is slowed down. Is it developers dumbing it down to compesate for the inaccuracies of the Dual Analogs? Just compare Unreal Tournament 3 to the previous UTs, and you'll notice how the action got slowed down to the point of ruining the experience.

The aimbots are definitly there for a reason. You simply cant do swift accurate movements with the 360 controller, try turning around 360 degrees and it will take nearly 2 seconds, while it takes 0,1 second with a mouse. The controllers are useless for FPS games, but devs get around this too some extent by getting aimbot, its a good game, not a good controller.
The Wii-mote by far. Is not even a contest.loco145
This. IMO, FPS' are borderline unplayable using dual analog sticks.

That's how I feel about them. It could be that I've been playing PC FPS' since Quake 1 and am extremely used to the KB/M at this point, but I can't play a console FPS for more than 20 minutes without wanting to throw the controller against the wall in frustration.

i suppose that depends on the person. i, for one, disagree with that.
i grew up playing pc games, now i mostly play console games. i still think that the kb/m is far superior than traditional controllers for FPS games.

Dual Analog Aiming is counter-intuitive, imprecise, needs aim assistence and it always has been complete trash and a poor attempt at emulating K&M.

Wow. That was the most grossly exaggerated post I've ever read. K+M might be more precise than dual analog, but it does a pretty damn good job. And the Wiimote I won't even argue because FPSs barely work on the Wii...so... yeah

Easy, add aim assist and remove the recoil. That's how consoles FPS become playable. (And they would still get obliterated like in a Rambo movie by someone using KB+M.)Please Log In to post.
