Best Single Player RPG Of All Time Award Goes To...

Id like someone to name one flaw in chrono trigger. Amazing game which has my vote.

Characters have no depth and it has a very cutesy/idiotic feel at times making for a lackluster experience.

BG2, Planescape Torment, Fallout 1&2, these are the best imo.

I would like to like Planescape but I hate bird's eye view point and click games. I tried getting into that game for 4 hours and can't due to that.

not even close, specially when ALL TIME is involved, there were ps1 and ps2 rpgs that stomps on it.

top of my head, xenogears chrono trigger, some older final fantasies.

TC has to be kidding. Mass Effect is a good game, but there are dozens of better RPGs.

It's either Xenogears or Planescape Torment. Both represent the absolute height in their respective fields (JRPG & WRPG), and no story has ever surpassed them since.

RPG is one of the oldes genres of videogames, so if you started gaming this millenium, dont expect you will know the best of the best. All of the answers that I read hear (Xeno Gears, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VII, Planescape: Torment, Baldours Gate, Fallout) are up there on the very top (I would personally add some more like Dungeon Master, Wizardry VII, Stonekeep, Ultima VIII: Pagan and System Shock II). Btw. Im really trying to add some current gen RPG on the list, but I just cant think of any that would be up there. Maybe The Witcher (I havent play Dragon Age: Origins yet tbh).

Mass Effect was great experience and I hugely enjoyed both ME1 and ME2, but I dont think they are on the very top.

Bu overall if you are asking for the one single best SP RPG of all time, IN MY OPINION it is Blue Bytes Albion.

my pick would be one of suikoden 2/breath of fire 3/final fantasy vii/final fantasy tactics/legend of dragoon/phantasy star iv all ps1 games except psiv.

FF9/ Chrono Trigger are the only correct answers. Although I'd take PM:TTYD as well.

I had super high hopes and Mass Effect 1 is probably in mah top 3 but nada, Kotor remains King. 8)

FF 7-10 are special but I played them as a teen and I'm not sure nostalgia makes up for 10 years of cynicism.

BG series, Torment and the Fallouts come to mind but they're old and somewhat hard for me to play these days.

Deus Ex: HR is probably this best current RPG imho.

Alright everyone... fallout 1/2= garbage. Spend 20 mins killing things on the same frame. Planescape torment=garbage. Same as above, DULL These 3 games are dull, boring and not played more then 5 mins unless bored out of your mind. !I_Know_Best1234

I know everyone has different opinions but why not just pick your games you think are best instead of tryign to trash others picks? Especially when you only played a little of them.
