Twilight princess, because it was hyped AAAA and was said to be better than OOT.MGS9150
Lair. Without a doubt.LegendofNerdMGS3 went from a AAA franchise, last game was a 9.6, to a AA. Blue Dragon was made from the creator of Final Fantasy and thought as a 'Square killer.' Metroid 3 went from a AAA franchise to AA like MGS3. Zelda was a AAA-AAAA franchise and bombed at a AA. I actually think Lair is the least flop of all of those considering Factor 5 never made a sure fire hit in the past.
You forgot Shenmue and the biggest of them all... KILLZONETargetDogDoh! Another good choice. But Killzone falls into the same category as Lair as a game that was hyped well for no reason since the developers have never made a blockbuster before.
Twilight princess, hyped AAAA.
2nd place metroid prime 3... Hyped Halo killer by sheep and will score higher than Bioshock.
3rd I think its killzone, maybe because of the media hype.

TP was hyped AAA, and please show me where all the sheep were saying MP3 would kill Halo, wait, they didn't.
Lair is the biggest flop. It was hyped AA, and missed its mark by 3.5! Coming down to 4.5 as a score! No game did as bad as this! TP hyped AAA, got AA, .2 off. Metroid hyped AAA, got AA .5. That is no where near Lairlettuceman44Errr... No. TP's flop is the biggest flop in SW and even in the Internets. The number 8.8 is like a legend right now. We all know these other games flop but we tend to forget what did they score.
But when we mention the number 8.8, its like mentioning 9/11. I think the number 8.8 is bigger than 9/11. Its really amazing.

Rogue Squadron II says otherwise. Besides, MGS, Metroid, and Zelda still scored AA which are, correct me if I'm wrong here, GREAT games. Even Blue Dragon, as bad as it flopped, was nowhere near the epic floppage level of Lair.
4.5 :? That's all I gotta say.
Blue Dragon, MP 3? You kidding me?
With flops like Mario Sunshine, Doom 3, Fable, Killzone, GTA Liberty City Stories really defining what's an SW flop, those games are bad choices for your list.
It's tough though, all those flops I listed were really big, but Twilight Princess was so unexpected and crippling. Lair is a big flop, but it wasn't supposed to be a killer app.
Out of your list, I'd vote Twilight Princess. Though I think Mario Sunshine is the biggest flop in recent memory.
How is it not Lair? Lair got a 4.5. You don't really compete with that. It's a 4.5. The types of games that get scores like that are ones that are never hyped and everybody knows they'll be horrible, and they're released and nobody buys them and that's it. Lair on the other hand received MASSIVE hype and was pegged as AAA GOTY by plenty. It also received a lot of hype from other publications. A game with that kinda hype getting a 4.5 from Gamespot? 4.9 from IGN? That's what makes this such a big deal.
Lair is the biggest video game flop probably ever based on its hype, not just in SW. I can't think of a single other game from any generation that received the hype Lair did and came crashing down as hard when all was said and done. Daikatana's close, but even then a lot of people had reservations about it since John Romero is a douchebag.

There was a time they did. I remember that. As soon as that onepreview said the controls were the most revolutionary in FPS history since Halo, fanboysran withit. Luckily, they forgot all about that soon after.
It's obvious none of you were around when Daikatana came out. It's by far the biggest flop in history. It was hyped as a divine revolution in gaming godness for its like 5 year development.
...and it was a mammoth piece of crap. Scored a 4.6 I think.

Lair was hyped AA. And TP is still the biggest flop in gaming history, Zelda is the biggest franchise. Arguably(sp?) bigger than Halo... its floppage is legendary. 8.8 is like the new 9/11. After 2 to 3 months we'll forget about lair but will still remember Zelda's floppage. How is it not Lair? Lair got a 4.5. You don't really compete with that. It's a 4.5.
