So let me get this straight. Bioshock=PDZ!!!????!???!??!?!? Gamespot r on crack!!!!!!grimhope
That's not how the GS rating system works. Please, take the time to read how the ratings work considering that standards of time are taken into consideration as well as that the rating system has changed since PDZ's score (among other apsects). It's not as simple as you've portrayed it. Many intelligent people work on the staff of GS and don't so simply review games based on such a narrowly gated view.
Great score. The game was released today wasn't it? Everyone enjoying it?the-very-bestNot yest in the UK :(
Back to the topic, if this whole freezing problem is really just the fault of a console then that should mean the review has a mistake that should be fixed.
Metriod Prime and Bioshock are coming later in the UK, sucks to be me. Demo is amazing however, can it beat HL2 and RE4? I think it could.
What has the better start Half-Life 2 or Bioshock?
I think Half-Life 2's start was better (by a hair), I felt Bioshocks could of been dragged out longer.
I prefer BioShock.
When you're in the bathysphere and he goes "I chose...Rapture" and you see the city, it's just a phenomenal moment.
I'm not entirely sure why I put that in the spoiler tag...What has the better start Half-Life 2 or Bioshock?

Overall, both are two amazing ways to kick off a game.
(glitchspot wont let me quote your spoiler)

So the game is out now. Any word on that "hitch" that Jeff claimed? I havent experienced anything of that...yet.deathtrap90
I'm playing it on the PC version and I've had the game completely freeze up a couple times :?
other than that I must say this game is AMAZING so far, and if it stays as great throughout the rest of the game it will be my pick for best game of the current-gen so far
Been playing all day on the 360 pretty much and had 0 problems.
ive played about 5 hours of it on my 360. NO problems as of yet. And Jeff's review was AIMED at the 360.Im beginning to think that JEff absolutely sucks at professionally judging a game. ESPECIALLY Bioshock.

Yep, really gets you excited for the rest of the game. Same in Fallout, that opening was fantastic. If only every developer made the same effort to make an epic and dramatic opening.(GlitchSpot doesn't let me do a lot of things).

i had a moment when i thought it froze but it was just a delay.
i went to pick up a diary and it took a moment to listen to it, but that's about it...
idk what jeff's talking about tho... altho i haven't played the entire game yet...
Great score. The game was released today wasn't it? Everyone enjoying it?the-very-bestSo far it is ok.
why haven't i seen this damn commercial yet?Juggernaut140
Sure you haven't seen it? The trailer on Steam's Bioshock page is the same as the commercial.
So I talked to Jeff Gerstmann over the Xbox 360 last night about Bioshock.
For all those concerned about the 9.0 review. Jeff said, people should realize that this is one of his highest rated games all year and that it's a great score. (Many rational people here have already been saying this).
I also joked with him about the fan boys being PO'd about the score, and he implied that he's caught wind of the controversy, but doesn't write reviews for the sake of pleasing fan boys. He reiterated, it's a great game.
So, I figured that may placate some people on here.
After watching Jeff's video review, I think he made some truly insightful criticism and comments about the game. He was showing how enemies look the same, but progressively get stronger -- Like how later in the game you can shoot a thug splicer repeatedly in the head and he/she won't go down, whereas, earlier in the game, one shot will put them down. I think he makes a good point that things like this affect the quality of combat in the game.
Nevertheless, it's a great game, and I can't wait to experiment with all of the plasmids and upgrades!
yet not as highly rated as wario ware. dude should lose his job for this. period. full stop.THETRUEDOZAH
the review is more important than the score. wario ware isn't even on the same system as bioshock so why compare them like that?
Sorry if this has been addressed already, but no way am I reading through every one of these messages :D
I may think that 9.0 is low, but oh well, that's just me. What I don't understand is that didn't Jeff complain about the arrow at the top of the screen and the map that tells you right where to go? I'm not sure how you can complain about that stuff when the arrow can be turned off and the map ignored. That is what I am doing and it is incredible. I can see how the game would lose something if those things were not optional, but they are, so why complain?
After playing Bioshock for about 5 hours last night, and stopping once I got to Arcadia, I personally feel that a 9.0-9.5 is about accurate for this game. On the old rating system I am betting that it would have probably gotten a 9.3. So, the review is accurate as can be in my opinion.
I experienced the freeze/skipping glitch that Jeff Talked about one time as well. I just saved my game, and reset the game and had no further problems. Other than that, the game is just great. Superb atmosphere, and very colorful, immersive, and darkly humorous in an insane sort of way, lol.
The game in certain ways reminds me of a mixture of of Condemned with how the crazy as hell Splicers madly attack you while screaming insane rants, and Half-Life 2 with the Telekinisis plasmid being reminiscent of the Gravity Gun. However, overall, the game feels completely fresh, and very original. I love it.
The atmosphere does = instant win. I agree as well. I can't remember the last game I played that had a better atmosphere.

Most definitely, man. I think the thing that I am anticipating finding out the most is the "terrible price" that will be paid by my choosing to harvest every 'little sister' that I come across. Maybe end up becoming and insane splicer yourself, who ends up staying in, and scouring Rapture for EVE, lol?
Cannot wait to find out. But, then of course it will be an immediate replay in order to see what happens if I save all of the 'little sisters.'.....Just a killer game from the suspense, and wonder it provides alone.
They put so much crap anti-piracy stuff on it that you can only use it on one computer andcan only install it twice before it locks you out of that one too!Are you serious? :?

I don't think that those problems are on Steam. Slight downside of the PC version of Bioshock, you can only ever install it on a computer twice!

OMG, yeah, Kotaku is just reporting this http://kotaku.com/gaming/more-bioshock-shock/bioshock-pc-+-you-only-install-twice-292222.php
I've never heard of a game doing that before. I was curious about the Windows Vista version with DirectX 10, but now I'm definitely sticking with the Xbox 360 version!

Someone will find a crack around it. I shouldn't be expected to keep an 8GB game on my computer forever just because they overkill the anti-piracy.
Or maybe enough hate mail will force them to remove it? I'm sure senting my complaints.darklord888
2 installs for life is definitely a stupid anti-piracy idea. It's the time of thing that only affects honest users, not software pirates, who'll inevitably crack the game anyway. I mean, c'mon, how many times do people re-format their hard drive or delete games in order to make space. This is just dumb.

Hopefully. I have it on two computers, but I have not tried a third. I am going to try it later.the good news is that buying the game through steam should buypass this rule....

If so people should definately get the steam version. Its not like there is any advantage to owning the disk after this development.

Does the PC version load longer? I would think it depends on your hard drive speed.

why would it be?
Steam has transferable accounts....and is already pretty secure...even without individual copy protection.
