[QUOTE="JediRiff"][QUOTE="jechtshot78"][QUOTE="Bullets4Brains"]Jeff says in his video review that the game doesn't promote exploration because it has that big guide arrow that points you in the direction you're supposed to go, he made a pretty big deal about these arrows. I'd just like to point out that these arrows can be turned off, so that point is mute Jeff, shouldn't have even been brought up as it's optional, like the guide arrows in Oblivion.
Another gripe is his doen't mention this glitch in the video review that makes the game stutter, yet it counts as a negative in the written review. People with the game have said this is a hard drive issue, not a problem witht the game, so that shouldn't have counted against the game either.
It's fair enough if Jeff found the combat unsatisfying, I guess you can't please everyone, but his other problems with the game are not valid as the arrows can be turned off and the glitching is only affecting a few gamers with hard drive issues.
End of rant.

The Arrow is off by defult, so he HAD to have turned it on.
Actually, its not. It came on for me, not long into the game, and I didnt turn it on. I havent had time to see if you could turn it off, but I would think you can. I will find out for sure after I get home today for work. I only had about 30 minutes to play it, and I am still not even past the point at the end of the demo, so I will get into the good stuff tonight. :)
I don't know about the 360 version but I can confirm that the arrow is on by default in the PC version. But Jesus, it's still right there in the gameplay options, impossible to miss and as easy to turn off as clicking your mouse. But then again, it's in the same menu where you set the difficulty, and we all know Jeff didn't play Bioshock on hard. ;)
360 is confirmed as well. Thats what I am playing on... sorry about that, I should have stated which version I was using...
[QUOTE="cakeorrdeath"][QUOTE="mikasa"]Ok, so why is it you weren't going to create Halo3 Hype thread? Is it not a big name exclusive in your book?
mikasa
We just discussed this, because untill yesterday the hype level was deemed obvious.
Ah, I thought it was what Casey posted "official hype threads would be created by the mods for big name exclusives. the hype would end when the first review is released."
Didn't realize it had an unspoken/unwritten exception. "Unless Casey deems it obvious".
Anyone that goes to system wars at least once a week should know that Halo 3 is being hyped AAA, it always has been.if you can beat the game on Normal and beat it and be too easy, then you can bet with just alil effort you can beat it on hard. Bioshock looks like it was made for noobs of FPS, i mean cmon a frikkin arrow? a map, and a more detail map, and hint system? oh i guess if your good you can just ignore all that, but i thought the game was supposed to be hard not the player make the game harder for himself. they made it too easy and short and no Multiplayer lucky it didn't get 8.4 like the Darkness.

Okay, now you're trolling. You haven't played the game, you haven't played the demo--you're just trolling. Cut it out.

I dont think so.....I have to admit there is something wrong with having an arrow tell you where to go in a game like this.....
no previous games of this type (STALKER, DUES EX) needed it....and in many ways they were more complex so then Bioshock.
Why not a PS3 or Wii?CaseyWegner

I prefer the Neo Geo, personally -- but we're getting off topic

It didn't flop but its expectations were much higher.
And if Prime scores better than this I have some ownage to claim in a few threads
This game runs smooth as butter, but the load screens........ugh the load screens. VandalvideoAre they as bad as the Oblivion 360 loading screens?

Hmm, I hope my copy comes in the mail soon. I ordered mine off the Toys R Us website while they were having that buy Madden 08 and get another game half off deal. I do hate waiting, but getting it for $30 was pretty nice.
I can't wait for the first time I get to fight a Big Daddy. Going to have to think up some pretty complex traps. Will be fun!
[QUOTE="TheC0mmunist"]The only difference between the respawn points and game overs are well..........the 10 second intermission to reload your game. They are the same thing in concept. "Oh noes I died, now I'm back at my save point after reloading." "Oh noes I died, now I'm back at my spawn point, without reloading." If Jeff considers that 10 second intermission to be an astronomically difficult endeavor..................then I find that funny.I really don't think that's what Jeff meant at all. I am pretty sure he meant that since you respawning in Bioshock with all the enemies as you have left them, it makes the game easier. The fact that you can continue to widdle away at enemies until they die without any consequences of going back to a checkpoint means that killing enemies, require a lot less skill than it would with a checkpoint system, where you are forced to kill all enemies without you yourself dying. Constant respawning would be tedious but it doesn't increase the difficulty of the game. The respawn point issue reminds me of thesave/load anywhere vs checkpoints debates. Save/load anywhere was bashed on for making a game '' too easy '' back then too , but is all too common now. But maybe irra..sorry, take 2 will add an option to chooserespawn without lasting AI damage in a upcoming patch . More choice is good .
Also , when I'm going to play the game , I'll surely DISABLE the guiding arrow , that's no brainer...
One gripeI had with the X360 demois thatmy native language isn't English , so I always play games subbed , but the subs did not really match the speech imo , can anyone confirm this ?
Lastly , I am probably goingfor thex360 version, becauseI think thethree core 3.2 Ghz and custom ati gpu is more capable then my athlon 64 venice 3000+ @ 2.6Ghz with 1.5 Gb ram and 7900 GS , Although I can hook up both pc and 360 on the 40'' HD bravia , I think the good ole pc will struggle @ 1280x720.
Both deus ex 1 and System Shock 2 went in like sweety pie , Bioshock will be no different ,)

According to a config.ini log taken directly from the source of the BioShock PC demo, it appears once and for all this game is coming to PS3.
The file is located at the following filepath for the game:
Program Files/2k Game/Bioshock demo/Content/config.ini
[Console]
Console (XBox360, PS3) specific settings
StreamingDynamicFloatingLimit:
If this is a positive number, then instead of using the fixed per-level
limits, the StreamingDynamic resource will use as much memory as is
available as long as the total memory allocated by the game is less than
the specified number. In other words, StreamingDynamic will grow and
shrink to fit to the available memory instead of being locked to a fixed
budget StreamingDynamicFloatingLimit=500
Clearly 2K Games would be in serious fog if they were to pull out a "no comment" card here, or a typical "this was a mistake," because clearly, all the evidence points to BioShock hitting the PlayStation 3 console in the Spring of 2008, perhaps even sooner.
Keep your eyes on PSU for more BioShock on the PlayStation 3 information. We think you'll be seeing it soon enough.
It Says PS3 Settings
[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"] I already had it on pre-order for the 360, and I had planned on buying it till I found out they sold my LE copy to some guy five minutes earlier. Nearly went postal *Angry face*. I did end up buying the PC version, but only have they gave it to me for 5 dollars off. (That had to if they didn't want a postal dude.) The loading isn't even bad. Its a one time thing at the very beginning, and its a necessary evil because quite frankly, the PC version runs smoother, looks better, sounds better, and will eventually have mod support.Heil68I got the LE version and my Big Daddy was intact glad to say. Apparently they had some issues with the figurine busting. Do the graphics look that *much* better? I've heard they look they same. Not that I really care anyways, I'm glad more people get to play this great game. I'm going to hit it hard tonight. :)
my 6800 GS runs just about everything except AA on highest settings at 860 x 600. They have improved very little over the 360. :(
