I think that it has a chance(albeit small) to get 5-6 million subs, which is basically what wow has since all the chinese were cut off. Althought that won't kill wow, since acti-blizz are the only ones who can shutdown wow and I don't see that happening until they dip below 100,000 subscribers.

I think it will have a very large fanbase because it appeals to a market that is largely untapped for MMOs. A singleplayer type story MMO is what many people, myself included who doesn't overly care for star wars, have been waiting for. I see it as less of what WoW made the generic MMO and more a persistent world with a rich story and huge lore.

Toppling WoW now? I doubt that but it is possible (it is only 5.5 million now afterall).

I completely agree, based on what has been shown through dev diaries and videos. It looks like they are putting the RPG back into MMORPG. Alot of guys over at most MMO forums are appaled at the idea of TOR since to them it isn't an MMO, it is an online RPG. I find this pretty funny because I prefer deep immersive roleplaying to getting corpse camped and grinding the same mob over and over again. If there must be a grind at least it should be fun and not just mindlessly pressing the same two buttons on the keyboard. What I hope they do with TOR is eliminate grinding mobs by putting a bunch of huge quest chains with cinematics and choices that change the game(which I think they are doing).

WOW came along and wiped the floor with that game..so it's very possible for a new MMO to one day, come along and take out WOW as well.

is that really surprising though?..Warhammer Online is a hardcore "PVP heavy" MMO,as opposed to WOW which is more casual friendly and reaches out to a wider audience..so the winner was quite obvious..

Trust me 75% of them don't know what Bioware is.
