throw your 60+ million numbers all you want, but that thing is a sinking ship and no new psp will change that.

Saying no new PSP will change that it supposedly is a "sinking ship", based upon past implications isn't too much of a good idea. By that assumption, the PS3 should've continued to grow in sales based on it's PS1 to PS2 lifetime sales. Instead, we see that the console that failed last gen (Xbox) is beating it out by 4-5 million WW.

It's within the realm of possibility that the PSP2 could very much could outsell the 3DS.

i want a psp phone tbh.

I just hope it's a home console rather than a handheld, I really would dig a PS4, and this generation is already five years old now. By this time, we should have some rumblings of the successors to the current consoles. What do you guys think?

To me it's wrong that you apparently only want a PS4 now because it's been 5 years since the PS3 was released as opposed to there actually being any need for new hardware at this time. That's just a silly way of thinking about it as far as I'm concerned.

Keep in mind SCE only do gameing dedicated hardware as a part of Sony, i don't think they could compite direcly with iPad and keep it as gameing hardware in same time. Besides Sony need to move forward with portables, as i said Nintendo ended gen, Sony need to follow, they succed too much in this market to leave it be.

Also i predict it will be fully DD, UMD failed as general format and DD model is already in core of mobile devices, if they don't do it now they will need to other few year or risk another PSP Go like fail. I also hope that they will keep MIPS architecture to still be compatibale with PSP and PS1 games and who knows maybe PS2 too.

The report doesn't make it sound like gaming hardware. It says it can ALSO play gaming software via disc. This makes it sound like an extra feature. I think Sony can compete with the ipad if they design a better product than the ipad. Sony is stronger in the gaming arena than apple. Even if it isn't successful alone, they can crush apples attempts to get a foothold in the gaming market.

I hope to GOD... it's the PS4. I'm sick and tired of the this gen. Time to move on.

I just hope they are making a hard core console again and not a rebranded PS3 or Wii clone.

here why i dont think ps4 or psp 2 are even close

1 -ps3 just started getting steam , sony would alienate the new comers , for the ps4 -no one is in preparation except maybe the early adopters? plus theyd pull an xbox , which is somthing sega was known for and look where it led them ,

2 psp already has somthing in the works its called a psp phone , this could be very well that! and nothing more there is phones that do all that already ,scan barcodes etc internet etc so this could very well be the much talked about psp phone thingy another thing like i said it could be very well related to the sony note book/pc family, more then console family,

could be a video camera with advanced features who knows

either way ps3 is where im staying

im not blowing another 600 on somthing that is not guaranteed to be any better then ps3 is already

i dont need all those flashy features , , so im not ready

And you don't understand why, people knew that about PSP with UMDs and people was consider it inferior to original, thats main reason why it failed, if PSP was DD only from the beginning that would not be a issue, PSP2 could do that too. And btw, you talking about iPad that is fully DD and also strangly on iPhone gameing software sales more too... on DD only device. I was using diffrent source that not saying anything about discs

Misunderstanding, Only Portal 2 will get stream, Sony allows to involve 3rd party network services for a single games and even same as MGO don't need to use PSN at all.

As Kotaku pointed out, this basically means that, "In The Future, The Playstation Will Be A Little More Developer Friendly". Good news, but I'm wondering if they change to much around to make it more developer friendly, maybe it will be harder to have backwards compatibility in the next console without keeping core parts of the PS3 inside (not saying this article about new hardware is talking about PS4 since it's probably referring to the PSP2. Still, I'm sure the PS4, Xbox ___, Nintendo ____ are already in development and have been for a while now).

The fact that is thread is still going is undeniable proof that people can't think for themselves and check the sources first.

Sounds like a Sony PS Pad to me.

Wouldn't be surpised when they tried to emulate the success of the iPod/iTunes with the PSP GO.

Having read the article it sounds like a cross between a PSP, an Ipod touch and a Kindle. Seems designed to go after Apple more than Nintendo.

hard to take on Nintendo handhelds, may as well take on Apple handhelds.

If they made a PS4, I would be really pissed. I just ****ing bought my PS3 less than a year ago. :x

what simply better graphics, more hdd space, online? not good enough of a leap.

The userbase is not big enough yet to warrant moving on and there are still new features that havn't been really fully released yet - 3d, motion controls and possible other things.

If we want way better visuals and processing power that is what the PC is for.

PC is the one that actually "does everything" right here, right now, more and better! fact! It's also the better suppliment to those who care about "graphics kings".

doesn't matter when the next consoles comes out because the PC continues to evolve, surpassand is the hardcore elite.

This generation has too many games and promises to fulfill for the next few years.

Probably a handheld, but since they say "new concept" I would guess some kind of phone/game thing. Obviously, that's not really new, but it would be new to have a ton of support for one.

First of all, yes I made a typo. *,000. Second, believe it or not, success isn't only determined by who fits the #1 spot. Silver may not be gold, but it's still a medal. Sony would likely love to overthrow Nintendo and outsell their handheld. But even if their positions were reversed, neither would be a "failure," because they would both be viable handheld platforms.

not expecting them to launch the PS4 until 2013/2014, though. We don't need new systems yet.
