WSJ somewhat confirms the PSP2/PSPhone/PSPad theory.

Sony and Nintendo are suspected to be in talks with Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo.

"Meanwhile, Sony is developing a portable device that shares characteristics of hand-held game machines, e-book readers and netbook computers, according to people familiar with the matter. Some Sony e-book readers already come with 3G connections but it isn't clear if a new wireless gadget will use carrier networks."

The 3DS has the potential to drive Sony out of the handheld market. Sony is just doing what they can to remain relevant in that area.

I imagine we won't see a PS4/XBOX720 until 2014. I expect that both companies will want their new motion technology to stick around for three years.

If it's a PSPhone, it either ends up like an iPhone (unlikely) or, as is more probable, like the n-Gage
