It that was true, no one would play Naughty Dog games, because all they've ever made is third-person action games.*Ignorant logic is ignorant.

I didn't have an Xbox so in category one I'll just talk about this gen and ND has that down in tech, they take category 2 as well with great SP games since the PS1 days, 3 is tricky, Halo is the most popular but ND has had 3 different sucessful franchises versus one.

Naughty Dog by far, for days.

Crash Bandicoot? Jak and Daxter, and Uncharted?

And what has Bungle done?

Haloz, Haloz again, evenmore Haloz, evenmore Haloz Expansion.

For those people scratching their heads wondering why Naught Dog is winnin gby a landslide, its not just because Uncharted is fresh in the memory or that the Dogs have a broader variety in theor catalogue, its a culmination of many many things that ND do better than Bungie.

Bungie is a fine studio, I give them props for 'changing' the face of FPS (GOLDENEYE) notwithstanding, it is the overall experiences of the games that leave a better impression on players of the ND games.

From voice acting, animation, story, storytelling, graphics, sound, set peices. ND wins in all this categories all these add up and the gameplay aint bad either..

while halo has a cool lore, Bungie does fvck all with it in the games, and please dont tell me to read the novels. Thats homework, QED.

i highly doubt Uncharted, Crash, or Jak will ever be as recognized or lauded in terms of importance and significance to the gaminig world in the future as the Halo trilogy under the Bungie, so if you were to ask me which is better at this point in time, Bungie BY FAR.

Seriously go count the amount of awards and adulation won by Uncharted 2 alone and look at the games that have been released since and ask yourself who devs are copying more....

The bolded is factually incorrect and the italicized is all an opinion. Yes, even the graphics stuff. Because there are elements of Bungie's tech (lighting, scale) that blow Naughty Dog's out of the water.

If you're trying to present an unbiased reason for the results of the poll, you're not doing a very good job.

Allow me: People on System Wars like Naighty's Dog's games better, and Bungie's early titles are criminally obscure in the eyes of modern mainstream gaming.

I actually interviewed ND when they were making Way of the Warrior. Got a chance to play it before it was released on the 3DO. The controls were terrible, but it really wasn't ND fault. The 3DO controls had the D-Pad too tightly pressed, so the buttons and the pad wasn't hitting the contacts half the times. You had to press really hard to get anything to happen on screen. The game was ok though. Definitely not as good as Crash and Jak & Daxter series. At the time it was only Jason Rubin and Andy Gavin who made up Naughty Dog. They also had someone else doing the music I believe. Those 2 founders aren't even part of Naughty Dog anymore. The bolded is well what you call a reasonable aggreagate, its been 10 years of Halo for Bungie and in that time ND has released several IPs all in different genres.

Like I said, I gave Bungie their dues, its not a question of bias, I prefer ND's games my post history proves it.

The post youre quoting is merely shedding light on why peole are voting ND, they've done more in the last 10 years....maybe not more 'good' but more different. The Accolades are there for all to see.

Not calling you biased, brah. Unlike others that have posted here, I don't think preference = bias, and I'm not arrogant enough to discount someone's opinion because they have a preference, like normal human beings. Just saying that reasoning is not objective, and nothing really can be in those regards. In ten years Naughty Dog made Jak and Daxter and Uncharted. They're both third-person action games. I don't see how that's different genres or more different. Naughty Dog makes third-person action games. That's what they do. And that's fine. I just don't think they've shown a lot of variety as a studio.

Myth series is AAA here and on MC. Marathon was released in the early nineties so reviews are rare, but it was very well-received and very influential. It's often compared to DOOM, but it was more technically impressive.

No idea about sales, but I would guess that Myth did well enough. Marathon is iffy since it was a MAC game, but it did well enough to spawn two sequels, so...

They were successful enough that Take Two bought Myth and Oni and continued to make games in those series when Bungie got bought by Microsoft, and successful enough that Bungie managed to make enough money to continue making games on a platform that was not known for gaming (Marathon), and an XBLA remake of Marathon 2. But I can't find actual sales numbers. I'm guessing it's because they just weren't recorded as well then. I don't even think id knows how many copies of DOOM have been sold. PC game sales from the late 90s just weren't tracked as well, either. I mean, I can't find sales figures for Dungeon Siege, either, but we know it was pretty successful.

So even though the OP asks for which had the more successful franchises using the criteria of sales, which.. we don't know, popularity which doesn't seem high, and fanbase, which seems small but dedicated after doing some googling. You think it makes sense come down on people for not listing them ITT...

[QUOTE="DarkLink77"] They were successful enough that Take Two bought Myth and Oni and continued to make games in those series when Bungie got bought by Microsoft, and successful enough that Bungie managed to make enough money to continue making games on a platform that was not known for gaming (Marathon), and an XBLA remake of Marathon 2. But I can't find actual sales numbers. I'm guessing it's because they just weren't recorded as well then. I don't even think id knows how many copies of DOOM have been sold. PC game sales from the late 90s just weren't tracked as well, either. I mean, I can't find sales figures for Dungeon Siege, either, but we know it was pretty successful.DarkLink77

So even though the OP asks for which had the more successful franchises using the criteria of sales, which.. we don't know, popularity which doesn't seem high, and fanbase, which seems small but dedicated after doing some googling. You think it makes sense come down on people for not listing them ITT...

You said they weren't successful. They clearly were. I don't see the issue.

It's either, we don't know, or no, using OP's criteria.

They were critically acclaimed, spawned sequels, and two of them were intentionally acquired by one of the biggest publishers in the industry. They have the "popularity, fanbase," and critical acclaim part of that. Just because we don't have sales figures doesn't mean we can't get an idea of how well they did. Again, we can't get precise sales figures for DOOM. Are we really going to pretend that we don't know if DOOM is successful or not?

Damn DarkLink, you are way too invested in this! xD

If SW feels like ND is better/more popular/more successful/whatever than Bungie, then let it be :P Whether it is a correct assessment of the facts and real word views, it doesn't really mater. Correcting SW opinion is near impossible, and surely wont bring you any joy! If anything, it'll cause you loads of headaches and pointless arguments :P

Desmonic

Meh. I'm bored.

I don't care what SW thinks. If they like Naughty Dog better, more power to 'em. I'm just trying to correct the rampant "Bungie has only ever done Halo" crap.

They dont have fanbase, the only thing found is that they are small, unless you have something different.

I've never gone looking for the Myth fanbase, but Marathon's is about the size of the dedicated DOOM/DOOM II fanbase, which is pretty impressive considering those games are nearly 20 years old.

Bungie has had a bigger impact on gaming as a whole, but I prefer Naughty Dog's work. But damnit, Halo 1 is just so good.
