According to their twitter....We'll see. I personally thought Halo ODST was kinda ugly at times
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I've always wanted a game that runs seemlessly between cinematic and gameplay with no graphics change, for a long time.
Thank you, Bungie. Except I won't get it cause I don't have a 360. But maybe other devs will try it out.

THe expectations for Reach is through the roof, here's hoping they meet them.ah Uncharted 2 did that very wellI've always wanted a game that runs seemlessly between cinematic and gameplay with no graphics change, for a long time.

ODST ran on the Halo 3 engine.........which is a modified Halo 2 engine.........which is why it looks rough. Halo Reach runs on a new, custom engine, built specifically for the 360.Link

Even the seemless part? I want it straight from cinematic to gameplay, no black screen, and for a FPS that would be even better. Have the awesome cinematic in first person and keep playing in first person.
[QUOTE="AndyAlfredo"]ah Uncharted 2 did that very well i would say MGS4 did it very well, you can tell the difference in cutscenes and gameplay in UC2...........at least i could. MGS4 did a real good job, but most of the sequences were so long, more like watching a movie. You almost forget you're playing a game.
I hope they mean in-game and not in-engine, as they can just use up a lot of the assets to create a little teaser with the latter.
[QUOTE="AndyAlfredo"]ah Uncharted 2 did that very well so did MGS4. anyways. i'm interested in seeing what this is about. the premise has me interested. remember now... i've never bought a Halo game. i've played them. finished Halo 2 and 3's story and thought they were solid but overall left very little mark on me.I've always wanted a game that runs seemlessly between cinematic and gameplay with no graphics change, for a long time.

It also had mid-level loading, and stuttering, so i wouldnt use that as an example :PI think the game wouldve been better had they used loading screens..............my opinion of course :D

Brutal Legend did some of that. I'll just say the demo part so that I don't spoil anymore. Anyways, when you take out the sword and slash Ophelia. It transfers right to cutscene. Very nice. I wish more of the game did that.
Yeah, Reach will look like Halo. This is the Halo universe. Bright colors, nice lighting, pink guns and purple aliens. This is Halo.
Better detailed textures? Sure. But I expect it to be very much Halo.
I disagree. Halo 1 & 2 is considered some of the best looking games of last gen. The reason Halo 3 looks outdated was because it ran on the Halo 2 engine, but its one of the few games this gen that employs TRUE HDR lighting. Reach is on a brand new custom engine. So one could safely assume that it will also be considered among the best looking of this gen..........no?I don't know what you guys are expecting over Reach. Bungie has always been about balance and polish over graphics.
I'm expecting Reach to look very similar to Halo Reach similar Halo 3 but with better textures and a larger scale.

This was in-game/in-engine...know how that turned out. Yes, they said they changed it because it didn't fit the Halo style, and supposedly they showed some mesh that the final MC had the same polygon count. I still find the pre-MC to be more impressive graphically.

Halo Reach runs on a new, custom engine, built specifically for the 360. doesn't mean its goign to look all that great, halo usually has a fairly big scope, with diversity, we aren't getting killzone with that type of level design.ah Uncharted 2 did that very well[QUOTE="smartcriminal"][QUOTE="AndyAlfredo"]

Like Half-Life 2, I like free moving cutscenes where I can shoot the person and they keep talking haha.[QUOTE="smartcriminal"][QUOTE="AndyAlfredo"]ah Uncharted 2 did that very well i would say MGS4 did it very well, you can tell the difference in cutscenes and gameplay in UC2...........at least i could. Probably a step up from gears 2 maybe, or equivalent.Sorry, but Bungie has a bad track record on Bull shots. They pulled it with Halo 2, and they pulled it with Halo 3. So, until it is actually being played, I'm not biting.

You may be right about the loading. The little hickups halfway through a level were distracting. I guess Guerilla figured shorter midlevel loading was better than long individual loads throughout.
I'm also of the opinion that Uncharted 2 did a good job. Hell, the first Uncharted did a good job, they just improved it in the second. Hopefully Reach accomplishes what Bungie set out to do graphically compared to the other games, but I'm not holding my breath.
And to all the people already hailing this game as a "graphics king" of sorts, wait for the video. You know, that one deciding factor that NONE OF US has seen?
Millions of fanboys are going to get massively owned later today, I can't wait! :D.Rockman999Why is the game being shown today??
After the **** bungie pulled with Halo 3 I'm not passing any judgement till the game is in my hands.
Edit: Not that I think about it, Halo 2's first "ingame" reveal trailer looked NOTHING like the final product

That's what halo 2 was supposed to look like in game, I don't even think halo 3 reached that

What good would it do for them to lie? We're not talking about Sony here.Well, hopefully the video would have a H.U.D., then I'll believe them.

Half life 2?
They said similar things about Halo 3.
Remember the cut scene from the cliff top. Well they said "In Engine", and it was. The trouble is the engine does not look even half as good when it also has to cope with AI, other players, network traffic etc.
Even if you look at "Dragon Age", the cut-scenes are done in engine since they reflect how you configured you character to look. Too bad the actual games graphics don't look anything like the "In Engine" cut scenes.
Moral of the story don't buy into the hype and you may actually enjoy the game.
