Can we all admit now that Blu Ray was a terrible idea for the PS3 to begin with?

Yes because not everyone owns a HDTV let alone a top of the line one where Blu-ray really shines.

What does the Blu-Ray offer the PS2 gamer with out a HDTV? How many PS3 titles truly take advantage of Blu-Ray?

I agree that BluRay in the PS3 was a bad move, mainly because of the resulting price tag. The cell didn't help either. The worst part about BluRay in the PS3 is the read speed. It's a joke when you're required to do a 10-20min install because it's too slow.

Blu-Ray itself is a good format, but I've seen stand-alone players for $200, and even coupons where you could pick one up for $170. I want BluRay, but I doubt I'll be paying the extra $230 just to play MGS4 and Resistance 2.
