[QUOTE="vicscrape"]Lol I'm sure that there's piracy on consoles too. JiveT

PC game piracy DWARFS console game piracy and with the rise of broadband access it's insidious influence is rotting out the entire PC gaming industry.

I warned people in the OP to not try and use this line of argument because it's irrevelant.

And pre owned games + Piracy on consoles is aslo HUGE combined - especially considering Pre Owned games is 1 billion each year on its own.

and yet despite all this rising and rampant piracy PCgaming revenues are still growing fast each year and PCgaming is healthier than ever. It's more profitable than it ever was, it's easier to make and sell games than ever before and there are more pcgames being made and more healthy (financialy) PC developers than ever before.

Oh noes....the sky is falling :D

As people mentioned earlier, whats with the recent attacks? Your games are failing, so you go out and bash the whole system? So what if piracy is chipping away at the PC gaming's foundations, doesn't mean that it will crumble any time soon.

They need a negative argument against PC gaming, just after the huge amount of impressive / positive PC gaming stastics were released, pretty much rendering nearly all their negative arguments useless.

They still hang on to the piracy argument, despite the huge DD increases, and they dodge the fact that consoles have both piracy and pre-owned games crippling their systems.

Alright... suppose that the game piracy issue does lead to the death of the PC gaming industry. What happens then? Since console piracy is also ridiculusly easy, these hermits will start pirating console games. This will eventually spread to the rest of the console population and what next? the death of console industry or the gaming industry as a whole?

Anyone listened to GFW podcast? What the hell has happened to Chris Taylor? :? I mean first he makes Space Siege even simplier and more streamlined than DungeonSiege (which already was jokingly compared to screensaver) making it a "game for amputees" (not my term, heard it from Age of Decadence dev) and now he goes on to ramble how rtses are too complex, that anything that requires a tutorial is bad and shouldn't be this way. I wonder if this isn't simply a way of hiding the "we need simplier games so they can be ported easier to consoles" thought.

All I can say is thank God for companies like Stardock, Related Designs, Iron Clad, Paradox Entertainment or Creative Assembly who don't assume their gamers are morons.

[QUOTE="Ultimas_Blade"]Hell, if the PC market diminishes hermit'll find happy homes on consoles, unless they just want their MMOs, those have no reason to shift markets.AdrianWerner

exactly fixed hardware = stinkage

Not really, most hardcore PCgamers wouldn't find happy home on consoles. If pcgaming would die, they would just stop playing games alltogether (well aside from playing some old pcgames and mods of course)

Yeah, it's one of my favorite podcasts. I was very disappointed to hear Taylor's attitude, and the way he left the podcast half way through, along with his shameless plugs for Supcom 360 made it quite obvious he was only there for that reason, he offered nothing intuitive to the conversation at all. I would even go as far to say he sounded pretty arrogant. He's delusional if he thinks Supcom or any tradional PC RTS is ever going to have the same reception on console. The only RTS's with a similar chance of PC RTS success is Endwar and Halo Wars, which are built for console. Taylor then mentions that in the future they have "console" and "console and pc titles" to be announced, basically saying he's done making PC exclusives. It's obvious he's bitter, you could hear it in his voice.

The guy from Relic was much more uplifting and talked about how they are pursuing an ad based model in China with CoH, with hopes to bring it everywhere else. Overall, yesterdays podcast was much better. 1up had a good one today though, with FourZeroTwo of IW, they talked a lot about the PC version of the CoD4, thankfully Shawn Elliot is now on the 1up yours podcast, which finally gives the PC a voice.

It's been rumored that Intel is jumping into the high end GPU market, should be very interesting.

Intel probably could easily design a GPU to rival nVidia and ATi's top end flagship cards however I doubt they will. I do think though that Intel will align with nVidia to produce technologies that work off each other much better than current chipsets/gpus do. I also know that Intel and nVidia both are joining together to give additional support to PC game devs in order to boost the stagnating PC gaming market. PC gaming is about to start getting the royal treatment it deserves. It is about damn time.
