The indoor graphics in Crysis are "meh"? What on earth are you talking about?

P.S. The physics in Crysis are phenomenal, and KZ2 can't hold a candle to them.

was goin to say the exact same thing

lol @ 1600x1200 resolution on 12-20 inch moniters, yep, that says all i need to know right there.....and btw, Far Cry 2 has better vegetation than crysis.PS3Fanaddict

You have to be a HUGE fanboy to think Killzone looks better than Crysis, honestly nothing can match Crysis, even in medium/high settings surpases any other game.

I know the title is lame, and so will be this subject. The reason i am posting this is to differentiate the graphics between Killzone 2 and Crysis. I am a little to sick of pointless comparisons.

Crysis:

1. Runs only on pc, and hence is seldom exhibited at any resolution less than 1600x1200

2. Best outdoor vegetation graphics ever. Indoor graphics are meh.

3. Physics are good. On par with Killzone 2. Hit response system is not as good as Killzone 2.

4. Lighting is a little short compared to Killzone 2. You can stare at the sun, and it is NOT blinding in any way. No spectrum or even flares. Shadows are good due to resolution and hardware capabilities of PC.

Killzone 2:

1. Runs on a native 720p. That's 1366x768 for most LCD TVS. The resolution alone puts it at shame next to Crysis.

2. Best indoor graphics ever. Outdoor graphics involving vegetation is *yuck*. Just pay attention to the weeds on the Suljeva stages.

3. Physics are on par with Crysis. Hit response system grants more satisfaction than any other game (IMO)

4. Lighting is the best ever (IMO). Flares improve realism. Usage of dynamic lighting to bring out contrast in the game is extremely good. Does not rely completely on forced lighting like Gears of War.

If you ask me, Killzone 2's biggest weakness is it's resolution, especially the low res textures at many parts of the game which the devs think we won't pay attention to, but we obviously do. If Killzone 2 had a PC version, running at 1600x1200 and above, with an option for high rex textures, like any other pc game, it could easily surpass Crysis. But to compare Killzone 2 to Crysis based on the hardware difference is just silly. Of course Crysis wins. Even games with average graphics like Fear 2 end up looking good on PC due to resolution and AA.

Ilikemyname420

If you put the physics as "on par" with Crysis you're either off you're rocker or you haven't played Crysis....The physics in Killzone 2 are litterally the same 'Havok' physics engine as was in oblivion years ago.

Agreed the Physics in Crysis far out stretch anything on any console, this is the 2nd thread i have posted in today like this and i just can not believe some of the ignorance of some posters here. Try shooting a tree on Crysis at close range with a shotgun you can chop it into pieces as it falls! Leaves all affected by you passing through them etc etc Physics in Crysis are far beyond KZ2 please face reality.

I enjoyed KZ2, and it was a very good looking game, but why do some people feel the need to make it out to be the Second Coming?

Really, Killzone 2 isn't as impressive as cows say. It has more artistic merits than technical imo. What its stand outs is its animation, but they are mostly scripted events. Whenever you kill someone you will trigger a random animation sequence that indeed is impressive but independent of where you hit them... unlike Crysis, Farcry2 or even CoD4/5. Its also  -able when the cows use things like the bridge sequence as example of excellent physics... when is clearly an scripted event...

Technically, Killzone 2 can't compare with Crysis, Farcry 2(PC) or even CoD4 (PC). Artistically though, Im still amazed whenever I play on that multiplayer map that makes everything look like black-and-white. :o

The only thing KZ2 is superior to Crysis is in artistic merits. The physics department almost everything is scripted, you shoot someone there is a great animation but as you play the game you realise there are a few animations that happen and it doesn't matter were you hit them. The lightning is fake most of the time. Try for yourself few lights create dynamic shadows.

From an artistic standpoint it's a masterpiece. Technically it's a joke to place it over Crysis.

LOL, what physics are yall talking about in Crysis. Believe me the jungles are gorgeous, but the lighting really looks old now after playing KZ2. The animations in Crysis look like any other pc game, which doesn't say much for it. And then the special effects such as particle effects and so on looks very dull and limited compared to KZ2. I mean explosions look like there a image that is overlapped over the original image, definitely don't look like their part of the games graphics at all.

So to me in the end Crysis wins just because of the resolution you can play it at, size of the levels and its jungle vegetation. But Special effects (particle effects), action on screen, enemy AI, Lighting, weather effects and animations KZ2 wins.

If talking about physics I really didn't see anything in Crysis that made me say wow, so in that case I would give physics to KZ2 aswell. The weather effects, wind blowing, sand blowing, smoke blowing with the direction of the wind, grenades getting blown in the air by the wind making you to use kentucky windage. So if anything KZ2 showed off more physics than what Crysis did. But I am also talking about retail copy of Crysis aswell.

Also crysis has some bad textures aswell just like all games. And actually it has quite a bit of bad textures and the ones that just smack you in the face with them not even trying to hide them lol.

P.S. Resolution does not add content, it just makes things sharper and crispier looking. So no matter the res. you run it at Crysis is not going to have those particle effects, action on screen visuals, just the feeling of a living breathing world.

Graphics : Crysis >>> Kilzone 2

Overall : Kilzone 2 >>>>> Crysis

------------------------------------------

Crysis I enjoyed 1 play through on both games and found MP to be mediocre at best but it was visual satisfying.

Killzone 2 I love. Single Player was good maybe not as epic as Crysis on scale but felt more Warzone. Online is fun as hell the whole no reloads during gametypes just makes it feel so much better.

Crysis is a good game. Killzone 2 is a better game.

crysis has rope physics, rope will break under heavy weight, soft body physics on trees, ability to shoot down tree, water physics, day/night time cycle with sun moving across landscape casting shadows. houses can be blown up and the pieces stay, pick pieces up use them as weapons. crysis has much more going on, much more stuff blowing up, more enemys on screen alot more hectic game in general. not to mention killzone2's explosions are a joke compared to this http://i44.tinypic.com/25swlg0.jpg

Oh you talking about the plywood walls that I can disassemble with a shot gun, but with a stationary .50 cal no damage at all lol. Or the trees that I can cut down with a mounted gun and they fall flat with no bounce or any kind of physics at all to them lol. Guys like some of us that make KZ2 out to be the next coming, its just as bad to hear that Crysis is the 2nd coming aswell lol. I played and beat Crysis the week prior to KZ2 coming out, it was the week I got my new pc and it was the first game I played on it. Which it was very impressive to say the least, but now after playing KZ2 and replaying levels in crysis I definitly see where crysis falls short at. Sorry that yall are to blind to see those but yet want to point out the small details in KZ2 that doesn't hold up, all the while those same things can be said about crysis lol. I also said Crysis wins, but to me its only because of its huge world, which isn't sandbox like some like to say, but definitly huge areas to travel across to say the least. All the while looking stunning. But some of the things as of now in this gen they don't look as good as some would have you to beleive, even would say cheap actually.

GreyFoXX4

congradulations on the most misinformed and idiotic post in system wars history.

when KZ2 gets destructable enviroments like Crysis has, than come back and post again.

But some of the things as of now in this gen they don't look as good as some would have you to beleive, even would say cheap actually.

your talking about features which KZ2 doesnt even support.....

and yes Crysis does look better...only a complete idiot would think that KZ2 looks better than something like this:

Bu, but teh bridge!

well, seeing as 99% percent of fanboys ignore screenshots, lets bring in the videos then:

here's Volcano Island

here's the Alpha map present in the trailers, that didnt get to the full release, BUT was modded in

Crysis Rescue Mod

Dude get out of here with some mod to crysis geez, show the real game why don't you. You scared to show the truth. And what graphics card you got?

Yeah, apparently not a clue. GreyFoxx4 I run Crysis on Very High 1920x1200 and it blows KZ2 away. Plus the physics engine is one of the best around.

Just took these today during this thread.

Thats the shed I shot to death with that mounted .50 cal but no damage. Went up to it afterwards with my shot gun and took the shed apart lol. Basically sheet of wood by sheet of wood.

Photobucket

Notice the textures on the road or grass next to the road how they drop off.

Grayfoxx4 what machine are you running that on? No wonder the textures drop off as those screens look awful.

Once again resolution DOES NOT ADD CONTENT. Geez, it just makes things look sharper. And I run the game at 1680x1050, so if still seeing bad textures at that rez then guess what, their is bad textures in the game, and alot of them. And that physics engine isn't hardly even used, which Sony just done a deal with Nvidia to incorporate it into its games in the future I guess.

you realize that Physx cant even be hardware accelarated on the PS3 right?

and again, those shots are clearly not of the highest, or even high settings.

have my specs:

Q6600 at 3.4 GHz cooled by a thermalright ultra 120 extreme with a scythe ultra kaze 3000 rpm 120x38 mm fan

4 gb's of AData DDR2 @ 907 mhz 6-6-6-18 timings

Powercolor Radeon HD 4850 @ 680 / 1060

580 GB's worth of HDD

ps, you apparently think mods are hacks and crap, well, theyre not, crysis is nothing but a sample of what the cryengine2 can do, those videos jsut show what a bit of work can do to it, and if you want the actual game, here, have my own rig running crysis at 1680x1050 with 4x aa on all very high on DX10 with no mods

bdgf

fvd

bgfhnf

mjh

and youre lucky i havent uploaded my screens from the 2nd/3rd thirds of the game (alien spaceship and assault)

lol I said Very High, if you are running the game at low/med then it's going to have much worse textures, how much do you PC game? Apparently you don;t have a clue

On the PS3 it's going to be scaled down much further. On PC it's hardware accelerated, plus you can stick an 8800 card in with any card above, and it would act as a PPU (Physics Processing Unit), taking the strain off the single card.

If CryEngine 3 (just shown at GDC 09) is capable of doing things on the 360/PS3 that Crysis did on Medium then Killzone 2 just WTFPWNED!!!x3

ive seen people use a 7800 GTX to accelerate physics ALONE, so it wold never cope with physics and GPU strain, the cell woldnt help at all since trying to process the equivalent on a geforce 6600 in graphics whilst processing normal data wold kill it

*sigh* i run the game at 1680x1050 and look at how much better my crysis looks, resolution =/= settings, you know  go build yourself a rig instead of buying those crappy gateways, untill then, you will not call yourself a pc gamer
