Sony can only get their ass kicked for so long before they take drastic measures to become more competitive. By this time next year, I expect we'll see a $300 PS3, with a $200 black friday sale.

not going to happen, read the articles that came out today. they outline how Sony CANT lower the price. if they lowered it more they would be bleeding money. so unless something drastic changes in the next year (value of Yen changing - not likely, or components getting drastically cheaper - not likely). this global economic crisis has Sony by the *****. they can't do anything but sit and wait... and with this economic crisis predicted to last 5 years i see Sony taking a bow once they've sold current PS3 console stock. things could change - but that's how it's looking to me.

Sony has still quite good lineup of first party games. Those games might go to other platforms, but would those games be good without Sony's support? Also competition is always good for consumers because of two things: Price and quality.

i really think you should double check that. from what i've been looking at it's just not true, PS3 sales are overall disproportionate to 360 game sales... I said they aren't on par with 360 game sales (sometimes not even close). I never said PS3 games sell more than 360 games.
All PS3 games don't sell poorly like people suggest. They just don't sell as well as 360 games. Motorstorm 2 and LBP are already 1 million + sellers :). PS3 games sell more over time, opposed to 360 games that obtain the bulk of their sales within the first 2 months.
Proof of those selling more then a million copies each is required for such a statement. All the news bits I found about LBP put it less then 400k worldwide. This might be an old number but I bet its still below a million. I be waiting.
You will also have to show proof of PS3 games selling more then 360 games over a long stretch. Heck, look at the Nov NPD, Madden 09 is still on the top 20 list for the Xbox 360!

The PS3 is just starting to get good, I think they'll continue to turn it around as time goes on. Just too bad that the price still has to be so high, they need a cheaper version to compete with the $199 Xbox 360 model.
The ps3 was too expensive from the start, even now it's far to expensive ecspecially with this economy...but sony is probably losing money by selling it at $400, I didn't think playstation could fail, but in this economy no one is safe. I'm shocked the Wii sold 2 million in one month with all this talk of how bad the economy is that's really huge sales figures..congrats nintendo. not to mention their DS sold 1.57 million. all i can say is wow about that.
I enjoy the PS3 as a hardware and all the software that is available for it. It would be a shame for developement for the console and Sony's gaming division to stop especially since SCE makes some killer apps. All gamers should hope that the PS3 doesn't sink.
Who cares? I have a PS3, I hate the 360, and I really don't care what others think. I like my PS3, and I enjoy the exclusives that I have for the console. As long as I'm happy, that's all that matters. :P_Brennan_
Sorry I love my 360 and only like my PS3. I will say the PS3 is cool but not cheap. But BR movies do look alot better even on my 32" TV. I will say Home is pretty "meh" though. I got into the Beta a while back and used it twice. Neat distraction for free but nothing practical that I would use. Unless you like a virtual theater playing game previews or the ability to play a really bad bowling game (worse than GTA4). once the PS3 becomes affordable in 2 years then it might be worth getting for the casual gamers.
Well, it looks like if Sony doesn't have a successful media format to push, the system fails. Blu-ray is no CD/DVD success. See ya next Generation Sony (maybe)

It's generated SO MUCH hype that it's obvious it's going to sell. I mean EVERY PS3 owner or at least the majority is waiting for this game. I mean KZ was supposed to be Halo Killer and look what happened. But, I have to admit KZ2 LOOKS amazing:) I hope it's as good as it's hyped to be.

It's obviously a little fanboyish, They didn't say it doesn't have many must have titles compared to 360. Look at what they said "The PS3 doesn't have ANY must-have titles. Even on gamerankings this year alone, the PS3 has 2AAAE's and at least 7 AAE's. LBP scoring higher than gears of war 2 as well. Far from not having any must have titles :| It would be fanboyish to claim what they said is completely justified. Then again, CNN probably took the idiot route and is basing "must have" status on sales and only sales.
OK so a lemming wrote a story for CNN. Big deal. You guys need Sony more than ever. Can you imagine what it would be like if Sony bailed out the game? MS would have carte-blanche to put out shoody electronics at over inflated prices. Heck even with a competitor it cares very little to the RROD and not making online play free.

On Metacritic the PS3 has two AAAE's. CNN said the PS3 has zero must haves. So even from your perspective they're ignoring great games.
It's irrelevant though, they're talking about sales, not quality.
