I have been gaming online since 99...I have yet to play a game where people actually play as a team. Like you would in real life...NEVER...What I think some of you "team work" people mistake as team work is..."you are in a gun battle with someone"..."your team member comes around corner and shoots the guy that was shooting you"...You both are still alive...HIGHT FIVE!!!...You go on your merry way thinking "WOW, that was some great teamwork"...BUT instead the guy that helped out was just shooting the guy to get the kill..IT just so happened he saved YOU..THAT is what happens 9/10 times

Again...this is what I think most people confuse with team work..jmo

people primarily like CoD's difficulty for 2 major reasons

they feel competative, and it massages their ego's and they can stupidly try and e-peen measure.

razgriz_101

The majority of people (~25 million) play COD because it's fun.

Then there are some (~5 million) who play it for competetive reasons and or other causes.

Most of the fun comes from how abhorently easy it is to do well, it instils a false sense of being good.

I tip my hat to someone on GH who can play expert + drums (which is basically playing a double bass setup kit abliet more simplistic).

You can argue the fun card as fun can be a very weak term, also theres only ever around 500k people on (live) at peak times now shows 1.considerable drop off if were going by your numbers and 2. your basing off pure sales.Really doubt all of that "25 million" bought it for its riveting single player which serves as a glorified tutorial for the game itself in many ways.

Huh? It's not a surprise that COD's fanbase consists of 30 million gaming fans. I certainly don't hope you thought it was as poor as BF, CS or other FPS? CoD is the King of Kings.

One reason BC2 works so well is that it rewards the player for working as a team. For instance, when defending an M-Com station, a person playing Recon can throw down a detection mine and receive Mine Assists, as well as helping defend. An Engineer can help a team by destroying tanks, or if in a friendly tank, can issue repairs. A Medic can revive teammates to keep a squad alive, and can throw down medpacks. Assault class can throw down ammo packs in order to replenish any squad or allies, and receive experience for doing so.

It's just a matter of different taste and style of gameplay.

COD=faster pace, less reliance on team, hop-in & out matchmaking, deathmatch/small maps style maps, and easier for new players play without worrying aynthing else

BF= slower pace, more teamwork/communication/team effort, vehicles, and huge open maps

In other words;

BF = Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, boring.

Not even remotely. I'd take BF over CoD anyday, though I do like both series. So... Which of our opinions is superior? (hint: neither of them).

No, in other words; you like COD games more then BF while other prefers BF. Simple as that.

it is newb friendly so anyone can do good and battlefield is not

games are quick and fast paced and battlefield is slow, long tactical

it is pretty much this casual gamers vs hardcore gamers which clearly it is easier to see who is most of the market

yeah, and the wii series has the biggest fanbase ever, so it must be the best! Justin Bieber has more fans than Black Sabbath, so he must be better! McDonalds sells more food than any other resteraunt chain, so it must be the best in the world!

both COD and CS are played alot. They're neck and neck a lot of the time when it comes to player numbers. However, CS gets more crdeit since its been out since what, 2004? compare that to black ops, which came out 10 months ago, and then compare that to MW2, which came out around a year and a half ago..... it makes the COD numbers lose credebility. COD only survives because a new one comes out every year.

I'm getting both BF3 and MW3, I play ALL AAA titles, even the ones that are exclusive to consoles. I try very hard to like the BF games simply because I know they're suppose to at least have a little more PC support than consoles especially since EA wants to push Origin like a pregnant lady wants to push her baby out during contractions although the more I hear about it, the worse my opinion of BF3 has become and the better my opinion of MW3 has become, so BF3 started out as a 9/10 for me then slowly went down to 8/10, 7/10, and MW3 went from 4/10 all the way up to 7/10 for me from all the changes in gameplay and level design I heard about, it really sounds like they're catering to the top 5% of gamers, aka hardcore gamers and giving MW3 as the big fan service to the hardcore CoD fans that had to put up with this massive influx of casuals.

It just bothers me knowing that MW3 will be as good as BF3 on PC but only because Activision has 10x the resources that DICE does, not because they give a single damn about PC gaming, but at least I know MW3 will run well on PC unlike Camp of Duty: Lag Ops, and MW3 is suppose to be the most fast paced CoD game with almost zero choke points on any given map, all guns have stopping power so no need to waste a perk slot, and there are point streaks instead of kill streaks so team play is rewarded and all this is because they listened to the MLG Pros and youtube commentators' suggestions.

As for BF3, I played the alpha and I am really excited, and crossing my fingers hoping it will be more polished this time thanks to the bigger development budget. I'm a little disappointed that the Frostbite 2.0 engine does not handle real time physics calculations, but even the scripted/pre-rendered behaviors/destruction in BF3 look much better than BFBC2(IIRC DICE said objects will be composed of 5x more pieces than in BFBC2 so if a building was made of 40 pieces in BFBC2, in BF3 it will be composed of 200) and it will be strategically limited so gameplay will be much better balanced, however it will still be prevalent enough to prevent campers and let's just say, they're being about 9001% more professional with level/environment design this time around and they're pretty much embarrassing their past selves with a faster, more well designed, and better balanced game. I really hope BF3 can finally be a competitive game, what I mean is a game where the controls are tight, response time is good, and the gameplay is balanced enough for extremely good players to compete in tournaments and I also hope it's a huge hit on consoles, because lets face it, all that console gamer money will make the BF4 budget at least 2-3x larger than if it were a dedicated PC version.

My biggest issue with BF is the community, when you have an elitist community that peddles their smelly poo(BF games) like it's any better than other smelly poo(CoD games) it just makes me think terrible of these people and it seems like these guys are religious or something with the amount of cognitive dissonance they exhibit. People playing non-PC exclusives like BF, MW, Crysis, etc. should not even be allowed to thumb their nose at other gamers, this is a right reserved for people that play games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Call of Pripyat, DCS A-10C Warthog, ARMA II, Red Orchestra, The Witcher 2, etc.

COD for the single player (just fun! can't really explain it well) and BF for the multiplayer.

i'm pretty sure that CS source is played more than CS 1.6. Not 100% sure though. Anyway, they're both played a lot, and are way older than any COD. Not to mention they're both actually different from each other, unlike COD.

for a start, both COD titles there add up to around 19K players. But i think its unfair to put the two toghether. Point is, COD isn't the most played FPS online. TF2 is, followed by CS.

TF2 is? Maybe on the PC. 7 million gamers play CoD every day. That's of course all platforms taken into account, but in no way is TF2 more popular online than COD.

Nah, COD is quite poor on the PC platform.

VanDammFan

indeed, the CoD community on PC is hitting the grave

it is?? just played COD2 and COD4 yesterday and there were tons of people on. I dont play long as I dont like the controls, but still..thousands of people from what i seen.

Lmao, "thousands of people". I don't think you realize how poor that is compared to the console versions. :D

ah, thanks for clarifying that. I stand corrected:P

gamedude234

you dont, thats only steam, there are millions of dedicated servers that are off from steam. just look at cod there, 21k playing, we all know there are millions more doing it.

for a start, both COD titles there add up to around 19K players. But i think its unfair to put the two toghether. Point is, COD isn't the most played FPS online. TF2 is, followed by CS.

relax, Im not defending cod, im saying otherwise, just saying there are millions more playing cs, tf2, lf4d...

even if theres only 300 people you are bound to find a match, cod isnt that popular on PC, most pc gamers feel its a ripoff, I mean after all IW did by taking out dedicated servers and all of activsion's scams, pc gamers dont think its worth to shell out 60 dollars in the game when they have better options.

I believe COD is the most played game in xbox live. but as for PSN, no, I saw somewhere it was either KZ3 or UC2. COD is really strong for xbox, because the xbox versions are usually superior in front of the PS3 version

OK, I am going to clear out some things here so ignorant isnt much of a factor.

COD is an arcady, eas, run and gunning sort of shooter. It is meant to be like that. It is not realistic because it is not meant to be and also Call of duty was meant to attract a wider audience so that way is more dumbed down and it's easier to play. COD fans like their games because its a franchise that constantly has games coming out every year, its also easy to get into and it has alot of gadgets which are fun to use.

Battlefield on the other side is a realistic, more teamwork required, cant run and gun, kills are not a factor. Someone like DangerousLiquid saying that Battlefield is not fun and that COD is fun has no clue and they never played a battlefield nor should they play a COD because they are mostly 12.

Now, To say. Bad Company 2 and battlefield 3 are not in the same series. They are completely different. This is like saying Black ops and Modern warfare gamea are in the same series. They're not. Sure, they are in the same franchise. Now the story is with this is that Battlefield 2 came out in 2005 which only came out for the PC only. Console gamers meanwhile were complaining to DICE that they should of got battlefield 2. So DICE's decided that they wont release battlefield 2 on the consoles but they said they will make a sub-series for the console gamers so they get a taste of battlefield. DICE then released bad company in 2007 for the consoles only and they carried on with the 'series'. Bad company series was a filler for the console gamers so they dont get left out of the picture. Bad company games were supposed and especially made for consoles so thats the reason you'll find alot of consolized stuff because its made for consoles. 'Battlefield' however on the other side was a series especially for the PC so it will be much different. Hope this clears out alot of confusion.

Hey everyone. Stop playing COD. Switch to Battlefield. That would be fun to see COD die.

You couldn't be more wrong... CoD is insanely popular on the PS3, too. And the best-selling franchise there (as well as on 360).

TF2 is? Maybe on the PC. 7 million gamers play CoD every day. That's of course all platforms taken into account, but in no way is TF2 more popular online than COD.

They probably wont, they will stick to it. It's a game which is easy to get into, easy to get kills, very rewarding even when you're terrible at the game. There are no other FPS games that follows and shares the same aspect as COD as. Them playing Battlefield will be far too hard for them to even handle

Why play BF? It's BORING.

We don't play COD because we love Activision or because we hate DICE or EA. We play it because it's so much more entertaining than that sleeping pill called BF. No fanboy love here.

No you're BORING. Battlefield is not boring. You're just a plain fanboy which clearly you have not got a clue on what you're talking about. Also read my long reply. Couldn't believe how you think Bad company is the same series as battlefield. I suspect you being a 12 year old ignorant cock sucking piece of crap.

Bad Company or not, made by the same DEV, PLAYS THE SAME, and is boring (at least me and 30 million others think so).

If you want to play BF, then go and do so. But it's simply an extremely BORING game, which is based on camping and nothing else. If you suck at CoD, and have your grandma's reflexes, go play BF.

Seriously, How old are you? Call of duty 2 and MW2 are developed by same companies but they play extremely different. Bad company was made for 'consoles' and Battlefield is made for PC gamers. I don't suck at COD, My K/D ratio is 2.21 on COD. Battlefield is not about camping. Battlefield is about objectives. Camping in Battlefield will get you nowhere but in COD, it will.

now you're assuming that anyone who bought a COD game never plays BF. Maybe someone bought MW2, hated it(rightfully so, as that was by far the worst of the series), and went on to play BF?

And though you criticise BC2 by being the same as normal BF and having the same devs, i find having having two devs work on a series and all of the games playing the same to be more embarresing
