Halo 3 didn't get Multiplayer for the year, it didn't get FPS of the year, it didn't get best sequal, it didn't get best graphics, it didn't get best music, it didn't get best story, it didn't get best gameplay. How bias is this site?!

And some how COD4 get's shooter of the year too?! Halo 3 revisioned the FPS and Bungie spent countless 3 years working on this game. How can GS do this?!

For all we know, tomorrow, they might end up giving GOTY to COD4 or that PC FPS that needs a 3k PC just to run on mid. How wrong is that?!

Does anyone else feel that the GS GOTY awards aren't right this year?

GS awards are never right in general. I would gladly take Halo 3's campaign over COD 4 any day of the weak. The campaign in COD 4 is weaksauce. Its worst than COD 2.

However, in the multiplayer department, I will take COD 4. Not saying Halo 3 isn't fun online, but it looses against COD 4 by a little bit. Same is true of Crysis. COD 4 is indeed the best multiplayer offering this year and that alone makes it GOTY worthy.

I'll get more playtime from COD 4 online than any other game this year. Heck,combine the top 5 games and I'll still get more playtime from COD 4 online. Talk about bang for your buck.

More on the point, halo 3 does deserve some awards. I've owned nearly every major game this year and played them all, halo 3 still manages to be one of the best games of the year in my book. I'm not entirely sure about the comments of 'halo 3 is no different to halo 1'. That idea is near insane to me. Apart from Halo 3 feeling like an entirely different game to halo 1, there are a load of features in halo 3 of which Halo 1 didn't have. I'll list them shall I? Continuation of the story, new weapons, new vehicles, new enemies, new environments, new gameplay mechanics such as equipment, saved films, forge, custom games, online play (halo 1 (xbox) lacked this from retail) and armour customisation. There are probably other things that i don't remember. Halo 2had a few of these things and quite frankly, the gap between Halo 2 and 3 isn't nearly as big as the change from halo 1 to 2. Halo 3 is Halo 2, but overloaded with features.

People who bother themselves to not only play the campaign and a few hours of multiplayer, but also delve into Halo 3's forge, saved films and the features on Bungie.net linked to Halo 3 will realise that halo 3 is more than a 'generic' shooter.

CoD4 is a very good game and probably has the best singleplayer campaign for a FPS this year, Crysis is also an extremely good singleplayer game (i can't really judge the multiplayer because my computer just can't handle it well enough for me to play competitively).

Overall, probably the best year of gaming for me ever. So many games deserve awards for what they've done and Halo IS one of them.

You need to not take the awards that seriously. In my opinion, Halo 3 > COD4, even though COD4 is still an amazing FPS, its a close 2nd place in my book.

exactly.. i think halo didnt deserve anything thi syear.. all the games that came out did better then it.. to me.. cod4's 5 hour story line owns halo3 5 hour story line.. it kept my heart racing the whole way through.. probabaly because i played on the harder levels instead of normal.. plus it had better graphics.. it felt better to me as well.. felt very smooth.. gameplay was perfect.. and the multiplayer OWNS! i want some more maps though

But this forum isnt the whole of Gamespot users let alone Game Rankings users. and many Review Ratings differ.

For example, last week, The Witcher was 12th in User Rating, while Mass Effect was 17th , but somehow Mass Effect via Criticts rating ahs 10% more ...

Flawed review system? Knocking The Witcher down because its using an oldish engine? while Mass Effect is getting AAAs everywhere based on the fact that it has a new engine, better graphics ... but worse combat? and Performance issues?

Critics are flawed... overall User Average is more reliable.

I would have agreed with user average if all users gave honest reviews. But, again average may not be a good metrics.

Average itself is synonymous with mediocre and the game that would appeal to casuals (large number) will get many good scores.

1. Console Built FPS = JV League
2. Varisty Built FPS = Varsity
3. Other FPS stole the spotlight and the awards man. Sorry.
4. Graphics = Crysis, CoD4, UTIII > Halo 3
5. Music = CoD4 > Halo 3
6. Story = Crysis > Halo 3
7. Gameplay = CoD4 > Halo 3
8. Most Improved = Sorry but there was a bigger gap between MOH Hero's and its precursor then Halo 2 and Halo 3. MOH was crap that turned good. Halo 2 was good but Halo 3 was just a better.
9. Reinvisioned FPS = No console FPS will ever re-invision the genre especially when you don't have options of Mods or user created content. Forge is just modifiying maps. I'm talking about built up from the root up.

Suck it up man. Oh and SMG beat out H3 for GOTY lol

Halo 3 is a great game. But it doesn't out do every title in everyone of those catagories. This is the glory of compeittion!
