I perfer more crazed song structures and writes who sing or even speak or shout in free verse (i.e. mewithoutYou, Circle Takes the Square) compared to those that rhym and it gets repetitive.

It probably sounds like I'm a hater, but I actually do enjoy more of the better old school rap, but I perfer more of Hip-Hop styling than anything.

Let's take the big kahuna of video games...Super Mario Bros. and compare it to Halo. For comparative reasons, lets just compare the core mario games. Mario Bros. 1, 2, and 3 against Halo 1, 2, 3...make it more balanced

Super Mario Bros. 2 was released in 1988 and sold 10 million copies, and Super Mario Bros. 3 was released in 1990 and has sold 18 million copies. Adding the 3 games comes to 68.23 million copies so far....pretty impressive, now lets look at the Halo games:

Halo debuted in 2001 and sold 5 million copies. Halo 2 was released in 2004 with 8 million sales, and last but not least, Halo 3, released in 2007, which sold 8.1 for a grand total of 21.1 million copies sold....not looking to good for Halo lovers.

Super mario Trilogy = 68.23 million sales. 1985-2008 (23 years)

Halo Trilogy = 21.1 million sales. 2001-2008 (7 years)

Now you can't have an accurate comparison with those numbers. Mario has been out for 16 more years than Halo. So let's do a per-year-sale comparison:

68.23/23=2.97 so as a whole, the Mario Trilogy has sold 2.97 million copies per year.

21.1/7=3.01 so as a whole, the Halo trilogy sold 3.01 million copies per year.

In all fairness though, this is more of an old-school trait for console games, and not so much now. Back in the day, consoles received a lot of PC ports because the PC had already been out for some time and had time to establish a line of "hit" games. So they figured, if it worked on the PC, why not on console? As we realized through the years, some games are just meant to be played on PC. Today, games are typicallyreleased on bo th platforms quite often from the start...Rap on the other-hand, continues to butcher Rock songs rather than actually think of original beats and ideas.

New rap songs tends to be cool for a couple weeks, and then die. And when they die, they do not fade away gracefully, they crash and burn. you might as well bury it in a lead box, cover it with cement, and build a skyscraper on top of it. How many times have you seen someone on the road bumpin "the Fat Boys" or "Fresh Prince." It's not cool to play old rap, and it's not cool to play old console games....I've actually seen people look online, and make fun of people if they were playing an older game. In fact, if you want to play an older console game online...good like finding people on the servers. Whereas on the PC, like rock music, old is perfectly fine. Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Neil Young, all are just as popular now as they were when they were new. And you will still find people playing games like Doom, UT, Starcraft, and D2 online....And the PC attracts an older, more mature crowd, so they won't make fun of you if you choose to play the older titles.
