It's not DICE, it's EA that does this.

Why is everyone getting their panties in a bunch over this? I see this in a lot of games, and it's not like these few things are going to break the game. Plus this content will probably be available for dlc at some point.

The full name of Dice is "EA Digital Illusions CE". The company is subsidiary of EA. The same as Bioware they are part of EA.

This is really low comming from DICE. Real low. Hopefully community backlash is strong enough to have them put it in the game at launch or make it downloadable, something.

Ok so let's say there is the physical warfare pack and then 3 more packs for different regions?
That means there will be quite a few extra weapons.
I wouldn't mind that at all, as long as they work well for the gameplay and won't be expensive to purchase afterwards, so that you have all weapons.
Either the weapons suck or they will be made available for purchase afterwards. And then it all depends on the price, and whether the basic game has enough weapons etc.
It's too early to tell.

I'm not protecting BF3. If they mess this up and this turns out to be a low blow through DLC I'll give them hell for it on this forum. It's just too early to tell whether this is good or bad. The fact that I was able to pre-order this game for a very very low price, may be influencing my mind.

Well yeah you buy champions instead of using in-game currency but in order to buy the runes and stuff, that can only be used through in-game currency. You can still buy an xp or ip (the in-game currency) boost but the game is pretty balanced I think.

BC2 had so little content this doesn't really surprise me. What's worse is the content BC2 had was lacking in polish, which is ridiculous. I don't think DICE has what it takes to put out a quality product, at least not under EA.

This practice is appalling and it is hurting gaming.

There is a thread on this over at Reddit and it is top of the subforum (with 540,000 viewers).

I contacted EA Support telling them about the outrage this is causing in their loyal community and how it will negatively impact their sales to market this way. The woman I spoke to is forwarding the link and my message to their senior management and I should be hearing from them in the next couple days.

Fair enough. Yelling and acting like a knob is more likely to see you ignored. Communicating your points in a cordial and legible manner is preferable. Still, a big enough rabble will get the general message through.

At the end of the day I don't think it matters either way as EA doesn't care what you think.
