Could GTA V be successful if the lead was female?

I would love to see them have the guts to take on a lead female character for the next GTA. It would certainly turn the series on its head.

I think there will be an option for a female or male lead. Not just one. Either way, yes.

At this point, GTA is a license to print money no matter who the lead is. However, as much as I think it would be a refreshing change to see a female lead character, I honestly think it will lower potential game sales.

Wouldn't work for me, I would cringe everytime my female character tried to be a badass. If a female character tried to push around a mob boss with all his male goons, she would end up... Lets just say it wouldn't be pretty.

Personally, I don't care, but I usally play male Chars in games as I like to RP (me being a male and all).

I'd like to see it, also **** all of the people making kitchen jokes. I think one of the reasons so few women play video games is because so few games actually even give one iota of effort to appear more appealing to them. Also R* has great writers which means that the lead being female could actually be an important aspect to the game.

It wouldn't turn the series on its head; it wouldn't even be a big deal. We're pretty much beyond those days and females are lead character in a good number of games.

The characters in GTA games are so shallow anyway, it won't matter. They could make the lead character an escaped Gorilla and it wouldn't hurt the game or even change it much.

I wouldn't mind playing playing as a female as long as the game featured multiple leads

The bro-gamers would reject it. And Rockstar can barely write a male lead well. A female lead (with depth and feeling) would be out of their creative league.foxhound_fox

i guess thats partally the reason aswell :D but i hate how some games try to push females into everything. like in gears of war multiplayer if you dont play as a female character you are at a disadvantage because they have smaller hitboxes. no one can honestly say they enjoyed the date mission in gta iv because it was horrible

I couldn't see it working not because she's a girl but to have a girl do all the things that normally happen in the GTA world would, in my imagination at least, make here have the personality of those annoying **** girl that are usually played by the enemy and annoy the **** out of you. And to have the character that you play be annoying would just ruin the game for me. But then again maybe they can pull off a good girl/bad girl type character that has enough bad ass-ness that it's cool but not to much that it's annoying. What would be great if they made the female character customizable like CJ was in GTA SA. That would be great seeing some hulked out women just beating up male prostitutes or some Over weight girl doing a drive by hanging out the window or Hell Even becoming a hooker would be funny as hell! On Second thought they need to make a female customizable female character it would make the game so wonderful! Also sorry if this came off as sexist at all was trying not to.

I'd rather have a strong male lead but if written and voiced well I could definitely see a female lead working well in the GTA world.

That would be a nice change of pace.
