[QUOTE="SAGE_OF_FIRE"]I'm surprised it's usually Xbox games that leak a month in advance. Stinks because I don't want the game to be spoiled by someone. theuncharted34

betting that it ends with aliens losing or another cliffhanger, im betting crytek doesn't have the balls to make a ending where the aliens win.

you want the aliens to win...? you traitor

I generally prefer endings where it is not "and they lived happily ever after", i don't care too much for endings where everything dies or is destroyed, but i don't care for endings where the universe is saved and everything is good now either.

Aliens winning is an example of a none happily ever after ending, but there are plenty of other ways crytek could make a pretty badass ending as well.

it just depends on how bleak things look for the protagonists. if it's obvious they're going to die/lose, I wouldn't want them to pull a win out of complete no where.

In theory they have to win, cause Im pretty sure Crytek said Crysis was a trilogy. Either way anyone want some more pictures? or should i keep them to myself. They aren't mine btw.

The more this story develops, the more it looks like a leak from Crytek themselves. What are the chances now of the game geting delayed now? Convenient?ducati101
Why would Crytek leak the whole game with keys that circumnavigate the anti-piracy protection and the ability to play the whole game? That is the stupidest comment I have ever seen.

Ah yes, let's not blame the man who leaked the beta, a man who most likely works at Crytek, lets blame the group of people who bought over 4.5 million copies of Crysis/Warhead, the group of people who allowed Crytek to rapidly expand to the position they are now and also fund the damn sequel. Really...

Thank you consolites, for killing off what little bastions of console gam... Oh wait, there aren't any bastions of that. :P So how is it hermits faults again if someone from the inside leaked this Crysis 2 beta?

Because hermits download and seed the torrent? But I just realised something. The people who download this leaked game and don't pay for it are the same people who will wait for the pirated version and not pay for it, hence Crytek isn't really losing out.

And it isnt the leakers fault because?

Gamer, Advanced and Hardcore are the options and if you change a dll file you can get DX11 mode. This is according to information I read on another forum, so I can't vouch for it.

EA should start treating their testers and employees like humans. It's unfortunate when a Bobby Kotick is right. This is the third time for them and I'm not relly informed.

Well a free promo, looks like a dev build, those that decide to pirate the game now, will in most cases buy later for the MP.

[QUOTE="ocstew"] Boy, are Crytek happy now that it isn't a PC exclusive ...

KiZZo1

Yet you never hear this sort of sentiment when console games get leaked early, which happens alot as well. Never once did i hear anyone say "Boy, i bet bungie isn't happy that their game is a 360 exclusive" when it got leaked before launch. ANd i doubt you would be saying similar stuff if the 360 or ps3 version had been leaked. So why the double standard?

This is more damaging than pirating the game after release. A lot of people who are hyped about Crysis 2, and would normally buy it, might download it just to "take a look". Not to mention spoiling the story, the lack of control over content preview etc. etc. (this BTW might also affect the other versions).

Boy, are Crytek happy now that it isn't a PC exclusive ...

Who leaked it onto the internet again? Im sorry people seem to assume Pc gamers used hax and got it themselves :|

Because Bungie knows that anyone who pirates Halo, a multiplayer focused FPS, will have to buy the game if they want to play teh multiplayer.

Because piracy on PC is higher? And as far as I know you can get banned from XBL if you use a modified console. Which would sort of defeat the purpose of pirating an online game like Halo ...

KiZZo1

And you can't play online with a beta product either and Crysis 2 is supposed to have a pretty big multiplayer component, so what is the difference again?

That pic leaked out sometime ago. Somebody basically just photoshoped those 'r_displayinfo 1' stuff at the top right corner and pass it off as an actual gameplay pic. It looks like a console pic btw.

Publicity stunt anyone? You never know... Crytek have shown NOTHING of PC footage, and suddenly its leaked within EA. Not a full finished game, but a beta which is apparently locked to medium settings DX9? I reckon they are teasing the fans :P

ITT all PC gamers are evil because someone leaked a game.

Seriously guys, I think most if not all people on these forums who were interested in buying Crysis 2 are still going to do so instead of suddenly revising that because they'll settle with some gimped beta version.

Why would they damage their game's performance on one platform so bad just to stop a few PC fanboys from bashing them on the interwebz?

Just a quirky theory I thought I'd put out there. Obviously this is extremely damaging to Crytek, so close to release date and all. But I do wonder, I mean there's literally been about 3 screenshots from the PC and the game is just over a month away. I'm pretty sure the majority of PC gamers are doubting or have doubted the outcome of this game since it's going multiplat, the setting etc. They aren't doing it intentionally, but this could potentially boost people's interest in the game by getting a glimpse at it. I'm not condoning this release at all by the way, just putting forward some thoughts.

If you don't believe me about the piracy rates on different platforms, the answer is one google search away ...

I never said anything about the piracy rates. The mulitplayer portion of Crysis 2 cannot be played with a beta copy nor a pirated copy, the same as a modified console. What's the difference if people buy it for the multiplayer?

It can't be a release from Crytek, it's a leak within Crytek. If they were going to do that, they would have just released a PC demo, not a beta module of the game.

No suprise. For the final game in the trilogy Crytek will likely follow R* and abandon the sinking (pirate) ship that is PC-gaming.Sushiglutton
Crysis sold like four million, more than any PS3 exclusive besides GT5 and MGS4 (I think).

ITT: People doomsaying and insulting the ethics of PC gamers for something that isn't even remotely their fault. Typical.

Good thing Crytek isn't half as irrational as SW fingerpointers.

So you are trying to ignore the fact that Crytek lost 2 million sales to pirating? Hmmm... I wonder why Crytek went multiplatform with it's sequel. I wonder  Yes, it sold 4 million for the sole purpose to showcase your rig's power. Crysis was not a great game by any means other than tech wise

And that's why it scored a 91 on Metacritic and a 9.5 on Gamespot.

Because it's not even remotely a great game!

It's the reveneue, not the number of sold copies that matters. $15/game ($10 during sales) is a robbery for a high quality title like Crysis. Clearly they weren't satisfied at all.

It didn't lose 2 million sales, there's no guarantee those people would have been interested in buying it at all. I wouldn't be surprised if 3/4th of that number came from people looking to easily benchmark their new rig while having no interest in playing the game. This generation is a multiplatform generation, it isn't happening only to PC, consoles as well. With that said PC still has the most developer support. I'm not arguing about the quality of the game itself, your opinion is your opinion. Though stop trying to pass it off as fact.

Honestly, it's warped thinking like your's that's keeping big publishers in the stone age. They screw legitimate buyers by tailoring the game to combat the pirates, people who wouldn't buy the game anyway. Whose losing here? Not the damn pirates.

And I'm sure you have proof of how many of those sales were $15/game. So where is it?

Where are you getting 15 dollars anyway? Crysis is still 30 dollars on Steam and 25 dollars on Amazon.

[QUOTE="ducati101"]The more this story develops, the more it looks like a leak from Crytek themselves. What are the chances now of the game geting delayed now? Convenient?ocstew
Why would Crytek leak the whole game with keys that circumnavigate the anti-piracy protection and the ability to play the whole game? That is the stupidest comment I have ever seen.

The Beta was leaked internally obviously. A hacker didn't just hack into their systems! There would be 2 reasons for them to leak it, one being to garner free press and hype for the game and second would be too delay the game. If they knew they wouldn't be able to release the game in time due to maybe a new bug they found etc. What better way to tell the press they need to delay the game to fix the code, due to the beta? After all it's not their fault! Not saying any of that is true, but being in this industry for so long, that wouldn't surprise me.
