To be honest, maximum speed was pretty useless in the first Crysis most of the time. They improved it a bit in Warhead, but I still didn't use it much. Luckily, cloak and maximum strength are the ones I use most. I'm also really excited about the 'vertical' aspect of the open gameplay. I still wonder how it'll turn out, but from what I understand, height is now more relevant, which opens up new options for stealth gameplay (initiating attacks from above etc.). I also hope this means I get to climb skyscrapers. Hubba hubba.

There´s nothing 'hardcore' about Crysis1. Other than graphics it could have worked on any console and played by any kind of gamer.
Well the city looks less of a sandbox and more of a linear corridor shooter and they removed armour abilities.
And played by any gamer? Give a Wii Sports playing grandpaCrysis and I'd love to see how he goes with it.

This is what I expect as a typical post in this topic.
Of course when a multiplat pc game gets narrowed down because of design choices they were making before the console versions even existed then its consolization, then a pc exclusive gets narrowed down because of design choices then its just smart and good design. If only I could agree with evidence of it. Games like Invisible War were supposed to be 'better designed'. Alas it was anything but. As for Crysis 2, who knows, might be better removing the constant need for changing skills. There is some sense to it.Okay. Crytek sold out. Is that better?[QUOTE="DarkLink77"][QUOTE="15strong"]

How about saying it is a sequel with an all new suit. The suit is streamlined so it is better and faster to use. Changes in a sequel, who would have thought of such a thing?
How about instead of changing the 5 suit modes to 3 so you basicaly have stealth and overkill mode and the default armour mode, to introduce stuff like gadgets to maximise the seposedly more verticaly open world game they are going for. You know, introducing stuff like grappling hooks, repelling ropes, giving the suit a few jet boosters for a realy long jump (seperate from the strenght mode), making more of the levels destroyable, maybe even making the campaign a series of totaly open segments of NYC with real time day-night transitions so you can go around and maybe go reccie an area before attacking, or telling a squad of marines where to attack so you can get a diversion etc. Not going and dumbing down evreythingI played it on the 360 during the beta and I didn't think that there was anything in Crysis 1 I couldn't do in Crysis 2. Just had to do it in a different way. Infact it was easier to tie stuff together and really get the most out of the suit.
I guess all of the PC fanboys whining "consolization" should actually shut it and play the game before making those claims.

Well, so much for everyone's hopes of a non-consolized Crysis 2.

IDK the powers seem like a good idea.. Because speed sounded good, but it would have so much cooler if it were automatic with sprints.. Same goes for armor.. Imo it should just been removed inless there were when there were huge explosions at you that it would have you survive from.. And when I think about it, neither it or the expansion really had that..

This quote dashed my hopes even more lol "Crysis 2 is much more driven, a sharpened point to Crysis's slug. The problem with following such a seminal title is the weight of expectation. My advice is to drop that weight, and just enjoy Crysis 2's bumsliding ride."

But speed didn't just affect your sprint in Crysis, it affected your regular movement too. It doesn't make sense to have the maximum speed tied to the sprint function. You don't understand us PC gamers. :( You're primarily a console gamer.I played it on the 360 during the beta and I didn't think that there was anything in Crysis 1 I couldn't do in Crysis 2. Speed and strength combined makes sense if they have newer, more advanced suits or something. If they're in the same suites as the first one, I shudder to think how fast the power will be drained. :PIDK the powers seem like a good idea.. Obviously this is consolization... but, why?
Sure, you need linear levels because of memory constraints, but why gimp (dumb down) the powers?
Consolers aren't idiots, they can handle 5 powers.
Same deal with ME2. Do devs assume consolers are all morons? Do moronic and dumbed down games sell better?
I love trolling the consoles, but come on, from my time spent here I now see consolers are people too (with brains). WTF are they gimping the options/powers for?
Think about it from a logical standpoint. It makes no sense to have strength and speed as separate attributes when one is directly reliant on the other. The game designers are forcing unnatural things on the players to give us the illusion of difficulty without being creative. Its akin to the design decision by Capcom to have Resident Evil players stop and shoot, rather than move and shoot to create some sort of suspense when in actuality, people do move and shoot. It makes little sense!Obviously this is consolization... but, why?

So you mean devs wouldn't bother with a console if there were a ton of pirates? Well now the PS2 must have done horribly last gen

Lol! Im a pc gamer but would hate to be labelled a hermit on this forum....the way they act is hilarious and predictable.... this is not consolisation! This is an intelligent design choice which doesnt change how useful the suit...all the powers are still there ...and the choice to make the game more linear and storybased is one i welcome as long the ability to tackle an objective in multiple different ways is retained which, from reading previews it is!

Apparently logic and reasoning don't work at all.
You know who is truly killing PC gaming? The PC gamers thinking that every game to come to the platform needs to be 10x more robust and featured filled than the console counterparts AND be cheaper.

It's like having 2 children, one with a 9:00 PM curfew (Child A), and another with a 11:00 PM curfew (Child B).
If their mother suddenly made both their curfews to be 9:30, surely Child A would be happy, but Child B would complain, wouldn't you?

But how is anyone complaining about something on forums, killing PC gaming? How is that possible? Who says it's killing PC gaming? All they did was combine strengh and speed, which makes perfect sence. Allyou people are just looking for things to cherry pick at.They added a Metroid Prime-esque visor system too. Sounds like additions to me (thermal/scan/combat). Weapon customisation is still there in single player, and the game will most likely still have multiple paths. There you have it, everything that made Crysis different is still there.
OK multiplayer has had loads of major changes, but if its good who cares?
I always thought using the speed was a bit clumsy during combat as you only need it here and there, so having it as sprint is improvement imo. I'm sure it will be somewhat dumbed down (as most sequels) but if that comes with more polish and a more structured campaign I'm fine with that.
Consolization isn't imo a big problem with shooters as they're pretty simple games, as long as the controls are tweaked to suit KB/M, lazy ports are a whole another matter.
