God, I hope this isn't true.

If so, there should be a big sticker on the box warning the customer of their potential purchase. Utter BS. Hopefully it'll be DRM-free so that people can at least return it.

That is terrible. I thought PC's were supposed to be easier to develop for? I am waiting for PC version, now I don't see why.

Surely someone will create a 1080p mod? Surely....? They have done it for other games.

Wonder if they will include obvious config files so you can manually change the resolution and stuff.

I've forced higher resolution in older games without regular support. It usually required hex editing the exe file with a new value that would tell it to run in a custom resolution. The only problem was that you had to use the same aspect ratio or it would stretch the picture.

Console games are always at the standard 16:9 ratio so that shouldn't be a problem for most monitors.

Well, it's got a steady 30 FPS frame rate, that's something the console version wishes it had. I've seen friends play the game on PS3 and the frame-rate is all over the place about 40% of the time.

But locking it down to 30 FPS, AND locking the buffer resolution to SUB-HD is UNHEARD of for a modern PC port. Even the worst of the worst ports will let you set the resolution to whatever your monitor's native rez is. This is somehting that a couple fo thousand bucks to a third party PC port developer would have fixed, jeebus, that's lazy.

Here's hoping the great PC modding community flocks to this game and improves it.

On actually purchasing it - I probably will. It's not up to PC standards in terms of graphics, but the gameplay should be just as good as the console version - actually better since I won't have to worry about frame rate hitches. And I would rather these guys come out fo the experience of developing a PC port of their games with a "Let's do better next time guys!" attitude rather than a "never again!" outlook on the whole endevour.

It's also a game I WANT to play, but not badly enough to spend severla hundred dollars on a PS3 - somethign that to me would be about as useful as an overpriced blu-ray player. So PC verison it is.

How can the gameplay be better if there are less people to play with? Framerate only affects 2 single player areas. MP locales do not suffer from this.

I am pretty sure these issues will be fixed quickly.

LA noire was locked at 30 FPS too but a mod to remove the cap was made soon after the game was released.

I'm sorry, are you visiting us from the future?

We don't know how many units it will sell on PC, and regardless, the number of PC gamers who routinely play online is MUCH larger than the number of PS3 gamers who game online. The ratio is significant enough that even if the game doesn't sell all that well on PC do to these porting issues, it's probable that the online community won't be far behind the PS3 in terms of size.

Bottom line is, I don't know, you don't know. Why don't you bring up this point again once we DO know, instead of asserting your opinion on a possible future event as fact?

As for the frame rate - don't lie. I'm a PC gamer but I own consoles, and I have freinds that do as well. I've see this game running on a TV in front of me, and while the frame rate is REALLY bad in only a few places, it is very inconsisitent through out a decent portion of the game.

Not at all, but it is one of the features where the game shines, while ignoring the P2P servers that is. (maybe this will change with the PC version)

No you can't. How it works is that there is something called humanity. You use this to become human. Once human you can summon others and also invade others. You cannot while undead(Hollow). When someone invades you, you cannot quit the game and must find the person and fight to the death. If you try to DC your save file will probably go corrupt so yeah. Jesus and I thought pc gamers were hardcore.

Playing offline is not a solution to invading it's a silly mistake new players always make because they think everyone who invades will instantly kill you... PVP is part of the magic, if you're going to turn the whole multiplayer aspect (including co op and other extremely helpful features) off then you might as well throw the game in the trash.

I love getting invaded it's like recieving a gift from a random player considering killing noobs is fun :D

I intend to buy the game. I also intend to keep invaders out because I'm one of those noobs.

I guess since nowadays I'm sure the first few areas are full of morons invading new players going singleplayer at first is an ok idea... But don't forget getting killed is part of the experience, that includes getting killed by insanely overpowered players :P

Who cares? I played this game a year ago, it was good, but overhyped by hipsters.

get vitality/ endurance to 40-50 and raise some other stats by small amount, paladin +5, lightning zweihander, hornets ring, east wood grain and you can own pretty much everyone.

Or be incredibly persistent like myself and level vitality to 100 and use light armor+a rapier

Some idiot invading my gamespace? If I can turn it off, that's the first thing I'll do.

Ironbash

yeah im pretty sure you can turn it off

No you can't. How it works is that there is something called humanity. You use this to become human. Once human you can summon others and also invade others. You cannot while undead(Hollow). When someone invades you, you cannot quit the game and must find the person and fight to the death. If you try to DC your save file will probably go corrupt so yeah. Jesus and I thought pc gamers were hardcore.

Most of them aren't hardcore, F2P and FB games seem to be the order of the day on PC.

Also you can only be invaded by those AROUND 10% above or below your level.

Hipsters don't like popular things, I love Dark Souls and it's actually relatively popular amoung gamers, and I would love seeing Dark Souls get even more recognition... It's my favorite game of all time and I am NOT a hipster, far from it lol.

For someone who's going to be new to the game, that sounds a lot of leveling to me. But, we'll see. ;)

[QUOTE="Kinthalis"]

It's not up to PC standards in terms of grpahics, but the gameplay should be just as good as the console version - actually better since I won't have to worry about frame rate hitches. And I would rather these guys come out fo the experience of developing a PC port of their games with a "Let's do better next time guys!" attitude rather than a "never again!" outlook on the whole endevour.

Ironbash
How can the gameplay be better if there are less people to play with? Framerate only affects 2 single player areas. MP locales do not suffer from this.

"less people to play with" what as apposed to buying it now on consoles with even less? when this will have new life through steam sales, a much better online system and more content. You don't have a leg to stand on, just like your other thread. All we lost is alittle graphical fidelity, all the other perks remain in tact.

But, I can keep them out? Right? I'm not really a big fan of someone barging in on my sweet time (singleplayer). I suppose it can be fun if I'm already leveled up.

"Just watched From Software change the resolution of Dark Souls PC to 1080p. Game of show."

and what i got from neogaf today that its locked in 1024x720 but you can play it at 1080p but it will be upscaled

Stay as a hollow, when you think you are ready, either invade using items or go human and wait.
