the GB crew never even bothered to review demons souls.
It's pretty obvious that they're simply not into punishing games like this.
dunno man. from what I've seen of the video: 1- janky physics 2- outdated graphics 3- bad storyline I was really hoping for this game to be somewhat interesting as I was honestly planning on getting itthe GB crew never even bothered to review demons souls.

ya. but it's not elegantly designed. I remember frantically trying to pause the game in the middle of fighting a silly couple skeletons (at the very begning of the game) to answer a phone call, so I pressed the home button and left the room, only to come back later and find out my character had died and turned into a soul.
That's just bad game design no matter how you look at it.
P.S. I'd advice you to try Oblivion, if you're into medieval RPGs

Since when? Uncharted 2 got nominated for GOTY in 2009. As did starcraft 2 in 2010. An it looks like Dark Souls is set to get AAA scores across the net.
if you wanted to pause in demons souls, just press quit game, and then load it back. You wil be in the same position with all your souls Ratchet_Fan8You can also just clear the current area of enemies. They don't really roam around, so once the area is safe, it will remain that way (unless, of course, you're in body form and don't want to get invaded).

It's not meant to hold your hand like Oblivion is. In fact, the game is designed around dying.
It's not designed to look impressive either, it's designed to be rewarding if you invest yourself.

I have no problem with demon's souls, which is exactly why I'll be playing dark souls. to be honest, I'm more into "action-rpgs" than "medieval" rpgs.. maybe I'll check it out at a later time, however, it doesn't really look like our tastes are similar anyways...so it might not be such a great suggestion for me.you won't like dark souls then...lol but fyi, you can beat demon's souls without having to level/grind. you cannot pause, but you can exit and save at a safe point.[QUOTE="Some-Mist"][QUOTE="Mystery_Writer"] A little bit. Oblivion was worse, hand holding, plain and simple and it's a bad game design no matter how you look at it. No pause is because you're supposed to feel isolated with no easy way out like the MW2 "How to survive a nuke" option that Oblivion has of "Pause, exit, load game again".This is what happens from the game series going multiplatform. You will see a lot of newbies expecting hand holding or expecting it to be like fable or oblivion. What really gets me is ign podcast beyond hyping the game when in 2009, they didn't even list it in the best ps3 games that season, like it didn't exist. Well now the series is multiplat it gets hype? Demons souls was great, I feel dark souls will be too, just there will be a lot of xbox owners bashing it after they realize it's not like other wrpgs thy hold your hand. ( just a prediction). Oh and who is bashing on the graphics... They look great.Midnightshade29no pause is just bad design. I'm sorry, but it is what it is. You can call it "not holding hands, etc.."
Anyway, I hate to be negative about a game that I haven't played. I really hope it'll turn up being better than my frist impression of it from the video.

Thank god Dark Souls is all about gameplay and customization, otherwise these points might actually have merit.
Not being able to Pause has to be one of the worst decisions ever for a video game.
And yes, it looks meh, no heavy storyline, terrible physics, hard as hell to the point of frustration and so so graphics.
Now with that being said i'm getting it for the combat, the boss battles, the atmosphere and the overall feeling of the dark phantasy world, however my hype went down as soon as i learn that 80 hours into it and they were barely 1/3 of the game, that pretty much told me i won't probably finish it ever, too many games but very few time, so an insanely long game is just a no no for me, then again i really want to try it, hopefully there is a way to end the game (the main "story" at least) in less time, but yeah, with Zelda around the corner, i feel i won't be playing Dark Souls that much.
Definitely valid arguments. I have to say, though, that the "hard as hell" argument is a bit misleading. If its anything like Demon's Souls, then, yes, it will be difficult. However, playing patiently and carefully will get one through it. One thing I liked about the difficulty was that it was never cheap. Not being able to Pause has to be one of the worst decisions ever for a video game.

You can pause really, just save and exit
The backstory is fine, the game does not need a heavy front story line to be deep
As for graphics, looks great, Demon Souls looked great too, this looks much much better
And since when more gametime is a bad thing ? I would rather it was 400 hours myself, but 100 will do, since i will play it 6-7 times, like Demons Souls
If you people want to watch the game, just go to twitch.tv and put dark souls in the search box. Then watch one of the many people streaming their gaming experiences. Some even stream it at 720p. Been watching the game for weeks now. Of course it's the Japanese version so unless you read Japanese, your not going to understand the menus and such.
Anyone slamming a game like this for "da physics engine" is probably getting too old for gaming according to an article from Cracked. I don't play graphics or physics, in fact I wasn't too happy about the physics engine in Demon's Souls. While it did provide slightly more immersion it also slowed down the framerate a bit in some areas.
The game isn't even that hard. No pause is a design direction (which is about the harshness of life, not really handholding and **** around for your own egotistical ideals) that you can easily get around, like that guy said with pressing start and load your game.
[QUOTE="Crossel777"]sequels/successors cant get GOTY afaik.Thats why Gears 3 wont get GGOTYIn that case there will be no GOTY this year. Basically all the good games this year are sequels.Looks like Demon's Souls in which case it's got a chance at GOTY.

Otherwise well, if you didn't enjoy that experience then you're not going to enjoy Dark Souls. This isn't a game for you. Does that make it 'meh' or any form of poor? No. No it does not.
Std bomb
Also digging the extra stats, and classes. Plus they actually come with descriptions, woo hoo.
worst voice acting ever , terribad story , forgetable characters again , ragdoll psysics again , no tutorial at all again concerining stats and gameplay mechanics (tendencies in the first) are things gamers should jhave in mind when buying this crap... i ment game.
and please do not say "this game is not for you" , my arguments above are facts, the game Should have better V.o , at least a understandable story, some likeble characters, a tutorial about how the game works and got rid of these vomitable ragdoll physics.
Voice acting and story aren't really what this game is about, it's about challenge and gameplay. Mario always has a non-story and lame acting, but it scores 9 and 10's on the main franchises for being great in it's gameplay aspects.worst voice acting ever , terribad story , forgetable characters again , ragdoll psysics again , no tutorial at all again concerining stats and gameplay mechanics (tendencies in the first) are things gamers should jhave in mind when buying this crap... i ment game.

As for ragdoll physics, well...
I don't really think we should judge a game based on how well it's physics work unless it's completely core to the experience or ruins it in some way.

Ever heard of Chaos Wars? Plus there's barely any dialog in Demon's Souls.
The game doesn't focus on story, its a dungeon crawler.
Same as above.
Oh no, not ragdoll physics! This shall surely break the gameplay.
Read the manual, its basic RPG fare, and you can always find out by yourself.

guys!!! please this is the second game here, yes they are not game changers at all but should not they fix the psysics? i owned and finished demon's souls and while i invested 50 hours in the end of the day it offered nothing nothing memorable (except maneater cursing my self to buying this game xD), the only memorable moments was something like 45:40 at the quick look video. dungeon crawler for sure but would not a story and some characters make it better? also imo combat is not good at all, you learn patterns wait and then attack , same as demons souls. i do not know abpout you but i really do not like it and i really wonder what gamers find in this game. Please Log In to post.
