[QUOTE="jg4xchamp"]It's a nintendo console. Who in their right mind honestly thought the main reason to get a Nintendo console weren't going to be Nintendo franchises?SuperFlakeman
You think they changed their minds about grabbing the dudebro audience and are going for a $249 system again, letting MS and Sony get away with all the big 3rd party multiplats for themselves?
The way I see it, MS and Nintendo will meet halfway compared to last gen, meaning MS' nextbox will be a bit less powerful than expected and Wii U will be a bit more powerful than expected, based on my intuition. I can't see MS going for hardware that can run samaritan at 1080p 30 fps and enough juice to for graphically demanding games. I imagine that would be another $599 situation.
Then there's also the fact that N7 will release around 2018, which is 3-4 years into PS4/Xbox 3's lifespan.
It's a messy situation, I don't think you people have thought it through. I don't have any agenda to push here, I can personally go with those Zelda HD grapics for another 10 years, think SNES, many 16 bit 2D sidescrollers still look pleasing even next to Rayman Origins.
I think while Nintendo will go HD this gen, and they will be significantly weaker than their competition. Maybe not 360/PS3 vs Wii weaker, but weak enough that we'll end up with the same scenario for third parties. You make the major multiplats on xbox/playstation/pc, and you throw the Nintendo console a bone exclusives wise.
Because with the Xbox3 and the Playstation 4 not coming out in 2012, and maybe not even coming out in 2013(if they don't announce it this E3, I don't see how they come out next year) I just don't see how those platforms won't be stronger. Either way we find out how much horsepower the WiiU this E3. So at this point it's just wild guesses.
