lol TLG shits all over Dead Rising 4.
You people are pathetic sometimes.
This was expected. A skilless button masher for the brainless masses outselling an game for sensible artistic senses. The same reason why 50 Cents outsells Mozart but we all know which is superior and will outlive the other.
You're comparing someone who made music in the 21st century to one who made it in the 18th.
I want you to think about what you said, and how dumb it was.
Dumb people are oblivious to their stupidity.
This game have had so much exposure through the years. It's been at every other E3 shows, every other TGS, every other Gamescom, every other video game show and just recently it's been on Sony's very own PSX show. Lol@anyone using the damage control that it's only been exposed in gaming forums LOL and that it's not advertised well LOL. It had almost 10 years of exposure and free advertisement! If gamers don't want to buy it, they don't want to buy it period. Who knows why not. Maybe the negative reviews that it's not as good as the previous two Team Ico masterpieces really turned people off. Who knows. But to say this game didn't have any advertisement or any exposure is nothing more than damage control. Once it gets discounted it could end up very well, just gotta wait for that price drop.
Your average pc indie game is better than this. 0 exposure. Sell more as well thanks to word of mouth.
This game is a huge disappointment, people just aren't willing to accept it.

That's not what this thread is about, Cows have been talking shit and trolling about sales for months, so when the XBOTs have a counter, they will use it.
It's just how System wars has evolved, I'm sure quality wise TLG is a lot better than DR4 (3 was average)
Fanboys will be fanboys though, and some will flip flop like little punks and never admit being wrong.
Welcome to System Wars 2016, I'd rather have 2004 SW with Sheep still big in numbers.
So lems are comparing a game in a long running series to a new ip? And people wonder why lemmings are the stupidest fanboys in existence.

Agreed.
@Syn_Valence: You have to be rational as well and understand that The Last Guardian is also coming from the creators of ICO & Shadow of Colossus which has been around longer and is more well known than Dead Rising...
Sales mean **** all when it comes to good games.
This is false. A good game, espcailly a pc title with no marketing can resonate through word of mouth, espcailly in the youtube age with the likes of Total Biscuit, Angry Joe and Zero Punctuation.
Even older titles such as Painkiller saw a spike in steam sales when Ben Yahzee gave a highly positive review.
A good metacritic score is also shown to effect sales significantly, Publishers put huge emphasis on metacritic as it's a readily comprehensible, and popular gouge of quality for the consumer.
In the case of the Last Guardian, Nobody is raving about it. Which is unfortunate.

bad games like GTA and COD sell alot too.
the thing is good games sell alot under thier fanbase.
last guardian should have been 15$ indie game. and should not be full priced game as it looks and run like PS2 game.
No doubt. I watched a few hours of guy playing on Twitch and happened I got to see the ending as well. My goodness all he did was bitch about the crap control and camera. Made me super frustrated just watching this crap. lol
I'm not even kidding, this game wouldn't score above a 5 on GS if it were an X1 game and sold for the price of Recore, $39.99 but TLG full price and a 9.0. GS = lol. :P
is that what you do, watch walkthrough's of Playstation exclusives on twitch because youre to poor to afford your own? LOL
Herpedy da derpy da derp. Do you even know what Twitch is? I mean, the whole point is to watch others play. If you sometime don't enjoy just watching others play than you're no gamer. Geeez, what a maroon and oh, I'm absolutely certain I have more money saved than you'll make in a lifetime. lololol :P
Overwatch was a new IP, sold like hot-cakes because it's fun and appealing and from a reliably esteemed developer.
This wasn't.
And you think Ueda is not an esteemed developer? What planet do you live in?
Like Phil Fish he mainly appeals to hipsters, Blizzard is a gamers game company.
Overwatch earns better reviews and sells better, regardless of being a new IP. Every game they make, be it Overwatch or a little card game is a success story. They understand games are suppose to be fun. People intrinsically know this, even if they can't consciously define it. The proof is in the pudding, don't need to justify it.

Making games, like any other type of media, can be about having fun but is also about making art out of it. And art should explore many different types of emotions and topics or be relegated to become the lame one-size-fits-all thing for brainless idiots and it will never be taken seriously. If you have a problem with diversity in gaming I suggest you're the one with the problem, not gaming. If you want to limit your experiences to those that are emotionally shallow and depend on adrenaline rushes then by all means do but don't assume others want or have to follow.

Gaming isn't serious it's just abit of fun.
It's why Blizzard are popular, they don't try to be the Seventh Seal, you just play an Orc dude hitting little fish men, that's fun, people like that.
Waiting for some poodle with wings taped to it's back is boring as hell.
@tormentos: dont be mad that cows in the real world don't buy PS4 exclusives.
like I said baby hands...you and your butt buddy come back in a couple months and post the sales figures for all the games on that long list he rattled off in the other thread.
80-percent of them probably won't sell 500k with a 50 million install base. so basically they are flops. I'll be waiting.

Find me a game with higher attach rate than Killzone SF on launch...
2.1 million sold on a 4.2 million user base, since you can't use % of a launch game from 3 years ago vs 50 million people when 46 millions were not there when the game launch.
Sure seem to be a lot of cows on here defending the game, but as far as I can see, only @dynamitecop and @kvally actually bought The Last Guardian. Not one other person in here actually said anything that suggested they had bought the game, much less spent even 5 minutes with the game. Guess only Lems buy PS4 games... 0_o
Gotta wonder if the cows actually play games on PS4, or are they all like tormentos?
I haven't played DR4 yet, but it's near the top of my back log. Just finished The Last Guardian on Sunday and helped a buddy finish the game via shareplay yesterday. Controls are shit but the story(more atmosphere and experience than story) are stellar.
I suggest you cows stop defending the game blindly and go play it for yourself.
lol TLG shits all over Dead Rising 4.
You people are pathetic sometimes.
For an all around game consisting of mindless destruction, it's hard to beat a DR game. Technical merits and plot? Different story.
Its not surprising... kinda expected.
TLG was a game that alot of people gave up hope on. A game that barely showed anything about itself and of course took way too long. The gameplay footage were very vague and confusing. Secondly only those who play ICO and Shadow of Colossus would be hyped for this, and very very people around today played those games.
Most people were expecting it to flop big time anyways so even if you wanted it, you were gonna wait on it, not day 1.
I would get the game, but at like $25 cuz like some already said.... its a artsy fartsy hipster game with fall asleep gameplay.

You do realise that KZ:SF was bundled with the console to begin with, so thats the only reason it has a high attach rate
TLG is a fairly good niche game. Not some timeless masterpiece. The catbirddog eats barrels ffs ,thats well thought out.
This man is desperately trying to hide his salt and failing miserably.
Pretty disgusting stuff.
Sure, Dead Rising has gotten progressively more safe and uninspired as each outing was released, but I cannot ignore that the original game was quite a phenomenon for its time when it originally came out. It managed to tap into both hardcore and more casual player base as that "feel bad" kind of game experience which GTA has long since been celebrated for as well.
The thing about The Last Guardian, is it has always, and will always, cater to a more niche crowd of core gamers. Sure we can all reminisce on the good old times of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, but let's not pretend these games have ever been major sellers. They weren't. Not compared to IP's like Uncharted, Killzone or LittleBigPlanet. They might be celebrated as among the best titles offered by a Playstation console, but they never soared beyond that niche gaming crowd, and yet even to the core gaming crowd not everyone can say they've played them.
The added problem with The Last Guardian, is how it did indeed fall under development hell. Much of its core audience that hyped it up originally on the PS3 have long since split up with the expectation that it's a process of being vaporware. Now I'm pretty damn aware that there's the loyalists out there that have been following The Last Guardian even during times it seemed hopeless, and these people must have already bought the game, and most of these people might be people that post on System Wars, but let's not pretend this crowd is anything beyond niche crowd.
I predict The Last Guardian will have modest longevity and that will ultimately lead to its success. Unlike The Last Guardian, Dead Rising 4 better enjoy its sales now because once people stop buying the game, people will STOP buying the game, and it will be a frequent visitor to the bargain bin. I predict a different fate for The Last Guardian. It will be one of those sought after titles, and people even up to the end of the PS4's lifespan will be adding it to their collection as one of those PS4 necessities maybe they missed out on initially. I predict The Last Guardian will be one of those more rare, searched after titles and that's how it's going to leave a lasting impression to the PS4 legacy.
idk, TLG seems more like melodrama than high art
games should be more like Dead Rising imo. You know, fun
The Last Guardian outsold Dead Rising 4 by over 75k this week in Japan. (Media Create)
Japan =/= the world. Who cares.
Wait.... Wait... Wait... So when Quantum Break didn't out sell MLB: The Show or Ratchet and Clank, established IPs vs a new IP all the cows went bat shit crazy dogging Quantum Break. But when the same happens to Sony it is okay to use that excuse. I just don't get all the fanboy rules on these forums.
That is the issue with fanboys in general to be honest!
Rich will be pleased
Also this
So it's okay for you cows to celebrate sells over stupid shit, but if lems do it they are idiots?
laughable and ironic logic.
@tormentos: Even cows dont care about KZ, nice try deflecting though. Look at you backpeddling. you are acting like they stopped selling the game after launch. Whats stopping any of the current 50 million from buying those old titles and increasing the totals? They are awesome PS4 exclusives that everyone wants right?
Like I said, come back in 3 months after 'The PS4 Q1 Super Exclusive List' have all released and publish the sales numbers for all those games and we'll see.
I'll be waiting.
TLG is niche and DR4 is a popular franchise. Also, people like killing zombies, a lot.
Clickbait article.

North America is the only one that matters, the rest are plebs.

UK = the world? Japan is part of the world , as is the UK.
There are only 3 Xbox Ones in all of Japan. No way a Xbox One game can compete against anything in Japan. Hell Atari games still out sell Xbox One titles in Japan. haha!

There were also new exclusives every few weeks for consoles. Now its like a few a year. Before PC had digital distribution there was also a legit PC vs individual console battle, now even with all consoles combined the PC gets 10 times the number of exclusives. The actual "war" has kind of petered out.

huh, uk =/= the world either. So why is everyone caring about this thread?
I like this specific part on TCs own link:
Critically, however, it's clear The Last Guardian comes out on top. Eurogamer branded the long-awaited adventure as essential.
"Does the successor to Ico and Shadow of the Colossus live up to its lineage?" Chris Donlan questioned in Eurogamer's The Last Guardian review. "It does so much more."
Meanwhile, Edwin labelled Dead Rising 4 a "brainless, buggy open-world game that's forgotten the second you put down the pad". Yeeesh.
top lel
lems can have their "sales" while we have the better game

Dang, 5? They must have had a clearance sale to double them to 5.
I hope in the long run that TLG crushes it, because the game IMO, is awesome. I wish it wasn't perceived as niche so that more people would play it.
