Demon's Souls is the best new IP to come out this generation

It came out in 2009 when gaming was pretty much all about shooters, it was a breath of fresh air and was an extremely risky IP to release in the states. Demon's Souls shattered sales expectations selling over a million units when it was initially expected to sell less than 100k. The RPG received critical acclaim, winning GOTY 2009 at Gamespot and scoring a 9.4 on IGN. It's also exclusive to the Sony Playstation 3 and runs at a native 720p with an exceptional art style and has a tremendous amount of depth and replayability.

I'd have to agree, Demon's Souls and Dark Souls have set the standard for the highest quality original IP series this generation. No contest. The game's are masterfully designed and impeccably executed. Both of them.

Good thing the sequel which is better in every concievable way is best on Xbox.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, amazing games, I'd give both 9-9.5/10, but Mass Effect takes the cake for best new IP. It was a fantastic trilogy that told a huge story spanning across 3 games. Each game managed to outdo the last, and each one gained AAA status (at least on Metacritic).

If you haven't played it yet and you liked the souls series you need to play this game!! It combines the skillful tactics combat with skyrim like open world, with using your envorinment for advantage with diablo like classes and loot, with smooth animation, npcs, shops, (even some romance option and new game+), it has the most amzing battles with shadow of colloasus style climbing massive monster andflying beasts who can snatch you up and take you away! The game has hords of enemies too. its so fun exploring, finding a new rare item/weapon/ armor piece. The game is pure gaming bliss!!! If you are an RPG fan (not mass effect fan) you owe it to yourself to play Dragon's Dogma!!! (I wasn't even going to get it, glad it did!)

Nope. I can name 20 better off the top of my head. Now if you wanted to say most over=rated then I thinkg I would agree with you without hesitation.

I wouldn't argue against that. It's a toss up between Demon's Souls and NIER in my opinion. Both are incredible games for differing reasons.

I'm actually part of the 5% of gamers who actually liked the ending :P.

Still, even if people didn't like the ending, you can't forget the rest of ME3/2/1, which was nothing short of fantastic! :o

Bioshock is indeed awesome but I think Condemned 2 and Cryostasis (even with all of it's problems) trump it. We need more first person horror-ish games.

Demon's Souls is great and all, but still limited to one or two playthroughs, as are most games.
