Its pretty obvious that nobody is going to buy a console port.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
You have to admit that's true thoughFunconsoleYou have to admit you don't know what you're talking about.
PC piracy has been prevalent for years, yet developers keep releasing games for PC, so developers obviously don't hate PC gamers. They just don't like pirates.
whats funny is that the people who read this article from this thread will say "hes wrong" but in reality hes making several valid points...oh wait, thats not funny, its just sad denial..
[QUOTE="Jankarcop"]Probably because they weren't pirated as much? Did you read the article or did you miss the point entirely?whats funny is, the full builds were leaked on PS3/XBOX360 2 weeks before PC leak, and destructoid had nothing to say about it.
vashkey
The build was leaked internally and was barely downloaded, try again
The article is stupid and console games are leaked way more often and way more early.

Proof that it was barely downloaded?
It doesn't make a difference who leaked it, obviously the entire dev team didn't want it to happen.
It's not about when it's leaked, it's about the volume in which it's downloaded.[QUOTE="Jankarcop"]The article is stupid and console games are leaked way more often and way more early.

If I were EA, I would actuallypullthe PC version ofCrysis 2right now.
Sorry, but he totally jumped the gun, and it made no sense since console games are always leaked. Also, he wrote the article around the same time it was leaked, and there was nothing indicating it had mass downloads. He was being an ingorant fanboy.
There is no actual reason to defend piracy. People who pirate are benefiting from the fruits of someone elses labor, no matter how badly ported the games are.
All you can really do to reduce piracy is create quality games that gamers want to buy and support. Look at Valve. Some people (like me) buy their games because they are dedicated to the company due to their quality products and great services and it has resulted in HL2 selling 12 million copies. I believe the piracy rate would go down (or not matter because of increased sales) if other developers had the same idea as Valve.
But a game being low quality doesn't make it okay for people to pirate it, and it doesn't make any sense at all to pirate in the first place. If someone feels it is worth $0.00 then why are they even playing it?? They obviously feel that it isn't worth anything yet they still play it? Sounds like they just have the ability to not pay and so don't pay.
Um what he says is pretty much a fact.
I followed the piracy bent over at destructoid and its true pirates got literally irrate when he suggested they actually admit they are thieves.
And pc piracy is far worse then Console piracy.
Hermits are all the time talking about consolization...etc don't you wonder why these games are getting preferential treatment on consoles? cause they are guaranteed to be pirated on the PC regardless of DRM.
Yeah, as in sad denial that the consoles suffer from the same exact thing.whats funny is that the people who read this article from this thread will say "hes wrong" but in reality hes making several valid points...oh wait, thats not funny, its just sad denial..

And of course the actual final build of the game was leaked and pirated first on the consoles. Console gets final build leaked before release, no one cares. PC gamers get a leaked beta that very few people actually downloaded, all hell breaks loose and PC gamers are all pure evil.ferret-gamer

So because he dislikes pirates and how they've screwed up PC gaming, he's biased?
That, my friend, is FOX news logic.
I love that we have evidence of PC piracy being a major problem, yet so many people are in denial... well chances are they are probably pirates themselves, and this is just an example of how the pirates get irate when someone suggests that they admit to being thieves.
Or maybe they are like they noble ostrich, sticking their noble heads in the sand, that way, what they can't see, can't hurt them.....?
There is a reason why so many games are built for consoles and the PC gets a shoddy port... you think this trend is by accident? You think companies havent crunched the numbers many many times over, for quite a few years? Cause and effect people... cause and effect.

Nah pretty much all multi platform game leaks to the ps3 and 360 weeks before pc, he haven't mentioned that. And why would we care anyway each pirated download don't mean money lost anyway. Well, its pretty much just like the Console gamers and the used games market, from devs and pubs its the exact same thing, someone gets a copy of your game without them getting anything
WE can thus conclude that the potential customers have a fairly large chunk who utterly bones the industry.

So if someone modify his console to play pirated games. Do that mean he had bought the game if he didn't modify it? Most likely not. Nothing gained & nothing lost. No, because he initially fails to bring up the massive console piracy that has been going on. You can't deny the multitudes of DS Flash cards with multiple games. Burnt disks of the entire libraries of NES and SNES games on the Dreamcast (yeah, I said it. DREAMCAST). Floating chip usage on PS1, PS2, Gamecube, and Wii...unlocking all regions, and burnt games galore. Not to mention Geohotz findings, and standalone PC emulators. What else....OH, how about the modded Xbox phase that everyone has been doing? Replacing the OS, and cloning xbox games into a replaced 250GB (or bigger) hard drive. Do I need to go on? Yeah, I'm a Fox News ReporterI love that we have evidence of PC piracy being a major problem, yet so many people are in denial... well chances are they are probably pirates themselves, and this is just an example of how the pirates get irate when someone suggests that they admit to being thieves.

PC gamers do not like being compared to or related to thieves. This is most likely where some of the "irate" behavior comes from rather than a pirate being in denial.

But if the pirated game in question doesn't work as well as, say, the retail version, then you've gotta deal with word of mouth and such.
Take HL2, for example. Some German guy got his hands on the source code of HL2 awhile before release. It was a buggy mess, and as a result, word of mouth spread and many people decided not to buy the game, which did result in lost sales, no matter how much damage control Valve did.
Not to mention many people just take the lazy route and pirate a game instead of buying it. You can't deny people don't do that.
So, yes. Pirating does mean lost money.

Didn't HL2 end up selling like 10+ million copies? Where was the lost money in that? If anything it promoted the game, not drove people away from it.
Guess all console gamers pirate too.

I'm very much against both.

Fixed. If you combine all consoles it'd outscore PC pirates. Lets not even bring handhelds into this.
