I'm going to the Halo 5 midnight release and I'm going to ask whoever joins me there. I'm genuinely curious.

Personally I think most console gamers, hell even PC "master race" gamers, are going to care more about massive engagements with dozens of enemies and vehicles that seem truly "next gen", even if it requires some rock textures to be of a lower quality. They're going to be too busy having fun in the encounter to care if the dirt is slightly less refined or there is some aliasing on a stick. Dropping of frame rate however is immediately apparent and I think 343 made a very wise decision to prioritize it over other graphical effects.

Pictures and videos matter to the average consumer. If you make a game that is noticeably worse quality graphic wise than your last game through screenshots and videos, the consumers will care.

1334x1080?? I guess whatever gives you an excuse to put it in writing "we achieved 1080p with Xbox One" when really the pixel count is barely a hair more then 900p. But instead of an adequate pixel-to-pixel ratio, the vertical lines are now as fast as 720p. And that is very ugly.

@ReadingRainbow4: What a disgusting lie. Bloodborne has the worst frame rate issues of any next gen game, having deep dips into even the teens. The game is fast-paced and yet its frame rate is a disaster. No excuses for From Software. They developed a game for a game console 16x times more powerful than the last, and they still can't get a decent frame rate. It's a travesty.

I haven't heard of bloodborne going into the teens, but the worst framerate title goes to Dead Rising 3 which went between 9-10 fps in some parts and ran at 720p.

I'd have posted some pictures off Halo 5 but uploading them to OneDrive is still blocked. The image clarity is not a problem. Some missions were at least half of the time at 1080p and the rest of that at a bit more than 900p to 1080p w/o antialiasing. I've noticed drops below that too, but they were never prevalent for prolonged periods of time.

Some sacrifices with individual assets or effects can undermine its otherwise stellar presentation. But let's not exaggerate. The game will keep you so busy you won't have much time for such ponderings. Whereas some areas might be scaled down (graphical aspects, I mean), at least character models / faces aren't and they really represent a substantial leap.

That's one ugly pile of subHD poo fest alright, damn son Halo 5 looks ugly. The price they paid for that 60fps is pretty much like cutting a log with a kitchen knife, you just end up with all kinds of screwed up and hurt.

Lol how to run 60fps on Xbox. First lower all reflections (Forza) and animations (halo 5) to 30fps. Add 2D water droplets and cardboard crowd pedestrians (Forza). Run resolution is weird sub-HD dynamic scaling 831p or whatever but hide 1080p in there to render while in the menu screen to save some face

That's no where near a smooth 30fps!! Look at the frame time graph, the frame frame are delivered all over the place meaning it does not feel smooth at all.

At first I thought it was just loading that causes it but it does it through nearly every area.

So your video just proved how un-smooth the frame rate actually is.

@nyadc: I don't want sub-1080p games so I will take Bloodborne as is in this hypothetical scenario where it is one or the other. I don't think Bloodborne looks good enough that the graphics are holding the framerate down though. There are better looking, bigger games on PS4 that run better. From Software just are not great on the technical side. They still make great games though.

The game drops as low as 1152x810p which basically is 720p,the worse thing about this kind of dynamic resoltion is that you will notice it quite fast because it blurs the image on the fly,worse texture filtering is poor which make matters even worse.

This game sacrifices to much to falsely claim that it is 1080p.

I'm getting more pumped for this game by the minute.

@tormentos don't be an idiot. If you could name any fps game on ps3 or Xbox 360 that ran at solid 60fps it would not be many. They didn't do cos they would have to sacrifice to much.

Halo has been screaming out to run at 60fps and sacrifices have to be made. They have done a good job and overall the graphics, gameplay music, story and multiplayer will make this game one of the best.

Just hope I can finish Halo MCC before it gets released.

The game almost never is 1080p is mostly 1334x1080p,and has drops as low as 720p basically.

Yeah lets ignore the pop in with shadows, poor texture filtering,half frames animations,and other problems and pretend is all peaches and cream,if you only had this kind of positive attitude toward PS4 games that ACU or The witcher which use to have problems and you have no problem slamming.

@Zero_epyon: But Bloodborne is definitely much more consistently worse on all front. Even when the game is locked at 30fps, From Software's oddball frame pacing makes the game a sideshow despite being technically 30fps. Dead Rising 3 deserves second place.

1334x1080?? I guess whatever gives you an excuse to put it in writing "we achieved 1080p with Xbox One" when really the pixel count is barely a hair more then 900p. But instead of an adequate pixel-to-pixel ratio, the vertical lines are now as fast as 720p. And that is very ugly.

The game drops as low as 1152x810p which basically is 720p,the worse thing about this kind of dynamic resoltion is that you will notice it quite fast because it blurs the image on the fly,worse texture filtering is poor which make matters even worse.

This game sacrifices to much to falsely claim that it is 1080p.

The mocking went over your head, apparently...

Good gameplay is good gameplay. Frames per sec only enhances it , at the end off the day the word lag exists , and random interruptions while playing still occur. You guys make 60 fps seem like it automatically makes the gameplay super amazing. I know you guys need gossip material tho so i guess... , cant wait to play halo at friends house btw. Haven't played one since 3
